Looking at picking up one of these as they seem to be the best bang for buck. But have heard of there cracking frames. Is that because of a fault in the welds or geo. Or is that because riders are sending these things off rocks and jumps that’s out of its capability. Thanks!
To be honest with you I think the breaking might be have a lot to do with the bike being bought by some riders that might be more aggressive than who the bike was intended for, but that's just speculation. I mean I am 5'11" / 210lbs and came from BMX before MTB and I'm pretty rough on my bike so I break stuff more than the average or beginner rider. However, in my case I think it might have been from using an "oval" chainring that when the back end of the bike was fully flexed (like leaning into a tight berm, or landing sideways doing a whip off a jump, etc) at the same time the furthest reach of the oval was closest to the lower chainstay, that it possibly pressed in to it and broke it. I'm not 100% positive, but it's all I can figure out, I don't think I go big enough to be breaking the frame. I still think it is a great bike for the price!
@@SecretSpots Yeah, I see what you mean. I’ve been tossing up between this T7/T8 or go the aggressive hardtail route and go the Marin San Quentin 1 - 3. They just updated the geo on it for 2023 making it even slacker and longer wheel base. 64 head tube angle. Thinking it might be good solid all arounder till I start hitting gnarly stuff.
If so many people are breaking frames, that is a big problem. I was about sold on one, but.... That said, I am older and not likely to do crazy things.
To be honest, I STILL think the bike is worth the money! Especially for how much they dropped the price. And for what its worth, my second frame break was my own fault for pushing the bike past the limits of who it's intended for - I cracked the frame while riding some of the gnarliest double black diamond super rocky downhill trails in the east and I imagine many frames on medium travel trail bikes breaking on terrain meant for strong, long travel suspension downhill bikes! Here's video from that day for reference: th-cam.com/video/uIDtJILTUfM/w-d-xo.html
Hey there! I had my lower chainstay break on me, and I sent photos and a video clip to both Bikesonline and Polygon explaining what happened and they honored my warranty and sent me a new chainstay. I think if you have photos and good explanation of what happened it shouldn't be a problem. It took a little while, but they did come through. Best of luck! 🤙
Well I'm not sure how much the Norco Fluid costs without looking it up, but in my opinion and experience you're not gonna get a better bike than a T7 *for its price range*. But I not only bought this T7 for the price, but for the geometry as well, knowing that I was going to upgrade most of the components to my own preference anyway thus ending up with a bike just as good as one that is twice its price. And that's exactly what it feels like: Just as good as any similar bike that costs twice as much. Keep in mind even with adding the roughly $1000 in upgrades it STILL cost me like at least 1500 less than a top brand bike of a similar build/quality/geometry. However, the Norco may come stock with overall better components without having to do much upgrades. ... As you may end up reading another reviews on this bike, Polygon nailed it with the geometry of this particular model and it's an extremely versatile bike. Meaning, I can do everything from XC and Trail riding and climbing hills, to hitting jumps and features, to bombing down mountains at bike parks all on the same bike. I grew up riding bikes and even used to race BMX in my early teens, and was also a very good freestyler in my late teens or 20s, and decent at dirt jumps too, so I was riding bikes for a long time before I even started mountain biking so even though I'm no pro, I'm not exactly a beginner either and yet still very satisfied with this bike a lot. (kind of over the paint job now tho! LOL) ... Hope that makes sense. 🤙
@@SecretSpots got it man. Take a look at the new Norco Fluid 2023 models they start at $1999 decently spec'd but you can definitely get crazy. The Geo is very nice on them and they are getting some good reviews. I just hear a lot about the Polygons cracking a lot and using really low end bearings
@@BJJandBS Funny you mention about the bearings. I had to pop the seals off the frame bearings and clean and regrease/pack them! Yeah this bike served its purpose, and I DO like the feel of the geo when I'm riding, but my next bike (next spring) will be a significant upgrade from this one.
Glad to see ya got the rig put back together. Great riding! Makes me wanna ride Allaire again! 😂
Not riding much for 3 months was the break I didnt know I needed! 🤣 Feels great to be back in the woods. Let's get Patty O out there for a cruise!
@@SecretSpots ah yes bro! Let’s make it happen sooon!!
5:06 did you put a frame guard in your bike to look with that waves look?
if i was right where i can buy it?
Hey there! No believe it or not I drew that on there with a black paint marker. ;-)

@@SecretSpots thanks man I sent photos to bikes online and will send them to polygon directly. Appreciate it.
Question, where do you get to order for a broken lower chainstay?
Sorry I just noticed this comment! I went right through Polygon/Bikesonline Warranty
So whats the verdict on these? Junk or decent bikes? Contemplating one of the T7's vs a Norco Fluid

Fall Fell
It fell well ;P
seems like a common problem on the t7/t8
I've heard that same thing in other video comments. I hope to step up to a higher end bike next spring.
