Does that addition void the warranty? I wonder does that drain even more gas if you drive normal? Or does it improve gas mileage any? With that sound and power I wouldn't be able to drive normally and I bet nobody that has one does. Awesome car.
+beebop shopbop it will void my power train warranty if something breaks and they can blame it on the supercharger, which would likely be the case. And I'm planning on keeping track of mpg on the next tank so I'll let everyone know how this effects my mpg. It will be difficult keeping my foot out of it I'm sure!
Stupid unrelated question to the supercharger, but I was noticing how close that the top of your head is to the headliner. I have ordered a 17' SS with the sunroof, and I haven't sit in one yet, but I was afraid that the sunroof would in effect drop the headliner lower and cause my head to hit the roof. How tall are you and can the seat be adjusted to compensate? Thanks
+ALCOVY ORGANIC FARMS MANSFIELD,GA I'm 6'3" and I've never really felt like the roof is too close. When I had a helmet on during the racing I did, then it felt cramped but that's about it. The seat can be raised and lowered and I have it as low as it goes too.
Are you really getting 24mpg HWY? What are you seeing in the city, I mostly only drive city and see 15. What RPM are you feeling the power difference? You should do another video in the spring/summer with better tires and better weather. Congrats on the MOD.
It showed that on the instant readout. On the 20+ mile drive home the day I got it back, my lifetime avg MPG (because I never reset that) went from 17.4 to 17.5. And that number barely ever changes. I just filled it up yesterday and plan on doing some driving this weekend since it will be nicer out so I'll know how fast a tank disappears pretty soon. It seems to kick in around 3500rpm. I can't wait for better weather to really test it out.
17-18 is what I was think an avg would be. I just don't get mine out on the hwy enough to have those numbers. My 2010 Silverado also has the 6.2L (L9H) in it and 17 is the avg I do see in it. It gets 13-14 in the city.
I have also heard that the blowers give better mpg for normal driving because it produces more torque and don't have to windded up so much, but that's more of a theory. I'm 16-17 mpg, stock
I've a 2009 Vauxhall VXR8 - just done a year logging my fuel costs and, yes, it averaged 16.5mpg over 22.5K miles. That's with a lot of spirited driving, work runs & town driving.
I'd like to ask if you if you would do the Whipple again. I'm sort of torn between this and a Magnuson Heartbeat. The shop I am thinking about using recommends the Whipple. Are you fully satisfied?
I am really happy with it. I have the 4" pulley on mine, so it has a lot of potential because I think I can go down to under a 3" with it (with a fully built motor obviously.) For highway driving, it still gets as good if not better mpg than it did before, which is great. I've read that some people have had issues with them, but mine is so far so good with about 2,500 miles since it was installed. I will say that my original plan was the LSA and it switched to this because of the person I bought it from, so I wasn't specifically going for the Whipple. The only thing negative that I can think of really is that the hood liner had to come out, which sort of sucks because it doesn't look as good now when the hood is popped. I don't personally know anyone with the Heartbeat, but from what I hear, it's a great setup as well. I'd honestly make my decision based on price if it came down to both unless you were really looking to huge power, then I believe the Whipple would be better for that.
No, I'm not looking for real huge power. It's just that the shop I've chosen to do the work has installed more Whipples than anything else and they really recommend them.

+Mike Pascarella I have the stock clutch still. Speed Inc never really suggested that I upgrade but I'm sure that day will come. I don't plan on putting drag radials or slicks on it ever so that helps.
+spinQubit are you talking about the lights in cup holders and cubby holes? It doesn't have those, just a little greenish/blue light up near the map lights that is always on to light up the shifter area.
+brandon thomas thanks! I wasn't really thinking about a supercharger really. An LSA came up that was a pretty good deal and then some things changed along the way and the seller worked it out for this Whipple instead. Which was his replacement for the LSA but decided against.
I actually was going to go LSA but the guy I was buying it from realized the Whipple wouldn’t fit under his hood so he offered it to me for the same price. If I were doing it again, I’d go turbo probably. The only downside I see to the Whipple though is initial price if you can’t get a deal on it.

I went to Speed Inc. in Schaumburg for the supercharger install and tune. I know a lot of people that also use Next Generation for a lot of LS stuff and I believe they're in Elmhurst.

I have a silver Saab 9-2x, the Saabaru, a rebadged wrx wagon basically. I'm just north of Elgin, but have family down your way. I have been looking/searching for an SS for a while now and when I saw your green one going down the road I couldn't believe it, haha. First one I have seen IRL I have my eye on a few SS right now, most of them are autos (due to my budget). I just want to make sure I don't regret it later.... The problem is that it is impossible to find a manual to test drive, which is frustrating but understable.
I test drove the auto before I ordered mine, but I only really drove it for like 2-3 miles because I was more interested in other things about the car not related to the performance because I knew I would like that. I had some people tell me that if I wanted to test drive one, I should fine a G8 GXP, but I think that's just as difficult to find. Overall, I'm happy with my decision and have no regrets. I think if the car never came with the manual, I might not have ever bought it because I wouldn't have even been thinking about one.

ok cool. I want to pick up the Livernois powerstorm supercharger but not trying to have major traction issues. Was thinking about going to the NA route first to see how I like it and if the power isn't enough I will get a blower down the road.
Why not have AN OTR on it, total waste of $$ IMO to have the air intake where the factory one goes, like the walkingshaw version, why not have a good quality OTR and a magnuson supercharger on it ? Also the brakes on the car are good unless you dont have brembos on the rear ?

I noticed the Rotofab intake box attached to the supercharger inlet. Was there any special induction tube needed or did the one that came with the kit line up with the intake box?
+Ryan Strain thank you! I had the Rotofab before the supercharger and when the shop did the install, I don't think they put a different tube on there. The only thing I know they had to mess with was under where the filter box is, there's a long tube going down behind the fog light area and that had to be cut because I think it was in the way of the heat exchanger.

+05on20s no, stock heads and cam. Only mods are the 2.9 Whipple with 4” pulley and Stainlessworks headers and full exhaust.
