Hell when I was dining at Pizza Hut they didn’t yet have wings or breadsticks. Pizza was much better back then, just like everything else, including a Big Mac
Saw this video and brought lots of memories. Pizza has always been my favorite and it also rub on to my kids that when I saw your video it makes a perfect halfway point to meet up with my oldest that lives in Dallas to meet up and relive that childhood memory of mine groaning up in the 80’s. Definitely a great video
We were lucky enough to still have a dine-in Pizza Hut near us growing up in the 2010s and I remember the red cups, sticky floors, arcade games, and the paper towel holders at the tables. Pan pizza used to be and still is my favorite pizza. Unfortunately, it closed and now is a Boston Market, with the roof shape still there (I can't remember whether the windows were changed). It's a shame it didn't stay open so it couldn't have become a classic store. Getting pizza in a cardboard box isn't the same as when it was brought to the table in the pan right out of the oven.
Growing up Pizza Hut was a great family restaurant experience. They used to have a great pasta dish on their menu called Cavitinni, a variety of pastas shapes with peppers, onions, sausage and pepperoni in a thick tomato sauce
We have an open Pizza Hut dining room here. Ate there less than a month ago 🙂 just for the experience. There was only one other occupied table that came in after we did. The real issue I see with the Hut is that it gets pricey real quick. We bought a dinner box (small one), New Yorker, and a 2-liter and it was over $45 after tax somehow.
I would love it if other resteraunt chains did these throwback stores especially mcdonalds with the classic red roof and playplace i hope that happens someday
I love the look of it.. reminds me of the one that used to be off of Hulen and Grandbury in Fort Worth.. we still have one in the Northside but they stopped letting people inside to eat since 2019 so it's usually always empty now..
Finally a chain that honours and celebrates its history! I hope they bring out some of these to Canada too. I have a dine-in Pizza Hut 5 minutes from me in Vancouver that still has the "hut" roof, but its grey instead of red ..I dont think they do the dine-in anymore....Not enough interest, or staff? But like, the building is SO HIDDEN lmao...Its in a bad spot, hardly anyone knows its there I think. I hope they'll start the dine in again, its so small that it would be easy to handle the 2 tables at once 😆 Really awesome pizza....I still think Pizza Hut does pan pizza better than anywhere else. Cool video, I love the photos!
Yeah that's how most the chain has gone. They've really downsized to just take out counters with a couple of tables or none at all, so it's refreshing to see these retro locations popping up and I really hope the trend catches on!
We used to go to Pizza Hut all the time when they had the Priazza which had two layers of crust. They were so good. Maybe they’ll bring them back someday.
Yep, remember these. They were actually a pizzeria instead of a reheateria. Pizzas would come out on a metal platter and it always had the proper char on top. They had a full salad bar and draft beer. For softball kids, this was where your dad went after games. If daddy got buzzed enough you could beg 10 bucks worth of quarters to play video games. Making it home? Well, that was always interesting.
If you’re ever back in Maryland there’s a unique Pizza Hut restaurant on rolling road in Baltimore county . It has a very unique structure with windows because it’s on the corner of a shopping center and the restaurants design is old school. Not sure how much longer it will last because yelp reviews are bad but I’m glad that it’s still here when I pass it everyday
The thing that's missing at this Pizza Hut Classic is the Early American mate's chairs. The mate's chair is distinctive for it's "guitar body" shaped seat, ornate spindle back, and elegant and curved scolloped back rail, with the "hand hold" for doing the gentlemanly thing for your sweetheart. Pizza Hut is where I first saw that style of dining chair, and sat'n one for the first time as a six year old child in 1969. As I climbed up into the chair, gripping the seat by the edges, I noticed the in-curves, which give the chair's seat the guitar body shape. Previously, I had never seen a chair with a guitar body shaped seat. I myself have a red checkered table cloth on my dining table at home, and four genuine mate's chairs around the table. I also have a custom made bass guitar with an actual mate's chair seat for it's body. It has the holes where the spindle back used to be, and the concave carvings for the sit bones. While everyone else looks at the mate's chair as an ordinary dining chair, I myself look at it as an ICONIC dining chair. To me the mate's chair is like a "Christine" car, Stephen King's '57 Plymouth Fury. I look at the mate's chair's guitar shaped seat the same way one would look at Christine's tail fins.
YESS!! There's one in Ohio that I plan on going to someday! My childhood Pizza Hut was torn down. There's a few Target locations that sell personal pan Pizza Hut pizzas and I had one last year and it actually made me cry happy tears cause it tasted so much like what I remembered from my childhood.
Love your content, this is as close as we're going to get to a time machine. (other than visiting it ourself) Pizza Hut pan is my favorite over all the other chains.
I grew up near Glenwood Springs Colorado and they had the buffet. One price for all the pizza, salad, bread sticks and desert you could eat. It was the best. I wish they would bring them back. I rarely go to pizza hut but the last time I went they wanted to charge me for the packets of parmesan cheese. It's obvious they are in trouble and probably won't be around much longer.
I live in the Waco area. When I was in high school, my best friend and I went to the Pizza Hut across the street from the school at lunch every day with $5 in each our pockets. That got us the lunch buffet every day, and we were happy with that.
If you are ever in Central Florida during your travels. Visit the Pizza Hut in a town called Inverness Fl. I moved here in 1988 from Long Island NY at the age of 10. The building and inside decor is still the same today as back then.
That always had the kids happy getting their free pizza and handing over their little certificate for reading, I'd make them whatever they wanted, not just one topping lol
I miss the Pizza Hut of this era, my parents would take me and my friend on a Friday after school once a month. The main draw was that they had a MK2 arcade machine that we dumped endless amounts of quarters into. I remember there being a jukebox in those as well. I miss the 90’s man….
My childhood pizza hut was amazing. They had a jukebox, moonwalker arcade, and afterburner arcade. I remember getting my book reading sticker club personal pan pizzas and even turning in the free one from the TMNT NES game. The pizza and sauce back then was the best. Now it's more hit or miss with more misses and super greasey. Maybe they'll open one of these near me. I'd love to give it a try and atmosphere changes things. Maybe just maybe the food would be better?
@SetsStreetsEats love your channel. You led me to BBWL, the three stage CEC in Charlotte near me, and now there is a classic pizza hut in Albemarle, NC. You da man! Gonna go eat there very soon.
We have a few original buildings, that are no longer open. I have rarely had Pizza Hut. I have a few of those red Coke cups, as well as a few rippled brown cups.
Perry, Iowa has one. Perry has had some tough times the last few years. If your near Perry, come into the Hut, and support it and the town. It has great food and specials! P.S. I think there are 5 or 6 Classics in Iowa. We are lucky.
My 8th Grade Graduation party with my parents was at a Pizza Hut very much like this one which closed not very long after now still sits overgrown and covered in graffiti. Is very sad to have places like this fall into the dumps...
I went to this location Sunday and it was absolutely terrible. They had the red cups and refused to serve my drink in them because they didn’t want to wash them, so I got plastic. The waitress wouldn’t speak, she just walked over and awkwardly stared. The restaurant was filthy dirty and the table cloths were faded to yellow. I left without eating, drove back to Dallas and ordered a stuffed crust. So sad. This video got me excited
A Classic management / Education story. Pay kids to read, they read the biggest font possible and the shortest books. They quit reading when the pepperoni goes away EVEN when they loved to read big books in the beginning. Stop F'ing up reading. see Alfie Khon.
That looked pretty awesome. I will say, that personal pan still didn’t look 100% correct, as I remember the tall sides and it being crispy on the outside of the crust all the way around, maybe my memory doesn’t serve correctly, but served in the cast iron pan made all the difference!
@@SetsStreetsEatsI actually spoke to my wife about this exact scenario, she worked at Pizza Hut BACK in the 90’s as a teenager- she said the same exact thing, that personal pan was oiled and had a tall crust on the outside that was cooked crispy. It would come out in the pan as well keeping it bubbling hot! Thanks for this video because she’s dead set on recreating it for us at home based off the original process and ingredients lol
My channel was always this before and then I started sprinkling the Chuck E Cheese visits in along with other stuff like this so it's always going to be a mix.
I want to go, but they are trying to shove too many tables into that dining room. You can't even get through to your table. I do like your "Showbiz Pizza" t shirt.
You are lucky to find those. Remember the Classic Pizza Hut. Cheers buddy...
My local dine in Pizza hut closed and moved this summer. They were so cool!
I love old fast food restaurants! Really cool that you have decided to check these out!
Thank you, I'm so glad you're enjoying them!
There is a Pizza Hut classic about 45 minutes away from I live. I'm planning on going there tomorrow. It even has a Pac Man arcade cabinet!
In the summer of 1984, Pizza Hut had a BBQ pizza that was so awesome...ahhh...the good old days!
You just mentioned a pizza from 40 years ago.. World war 2 finished less than 40 years before then..
Back in high school, my buddy worked at a Pizza Hut. We would all hang out there and get free breadsticks. Tried my first ever buffalo wing there too.
Hell when I was dining at Pizza Hut they didn’t yet have wings or breadsticks. Pizza was much better back then, just like everything else, including a Big Mac

Considering the fact that I’m 16 and have never heard of a book it till this video, safe to say they aren’t around anymore. Love your videos!

Eating a personal pan in an original Pizza Hut is on a different epic level
Gross.
Takes me back to the mid 90s if only they had a Mortal Kombat arcade game
Growing up Pizza Hut was a great family restaurant experience. They used to have a great pasta dish on their menu called Cavitinni, a variety of pastas shapes with peppers, onions, sausage and pepperoni in a thick tomato sauce
I’ve eaten Pizza Hut take out before,it just doesn’t hit the same anymore as the old classic feeling

Nice, There is one in Woodfin, NC near where I live in Weverville NC 🥰

Where in Texas. Still good. Still open
I love the look of it.. reminds me of the one that used to be off of Hulen and Grandbury in Fort Worth.. we still have one in the Northside but they stopped letting people inside to eat since 2019 so it's usually always empty now..
From at least 1976 to 1984 approx. each table had a red candle and the lighting was darker to add ambience.
Nice vid! There's a new "old" remodel about an hour outside of Houston. According to an article it's due to get a Pac-Man machine as well.
I am happy that you do not shun the small town locations. I work here in Fairfield and live in one of the smaller towns in the area.

I remember bringing my report card for a personal pan and my local Pizza Hut has the classic all you can eat salad bar❤

Man I got to get to this place. Glad this video came across my feed. Subscribed!

The location looks really nostalgic my local Pizza Hut recently closed
Damn this takes me back to book its in the early 90s, we had mortal kombat, at mine.
can’t believe these still exist, that’s cool
My dad used to ALWAYS hit his head on the glass lamp shades every time he got up. He constantly forgot about it. 😮

So true, thanks for the support!
My Pizza Hut that had around this same interior closed and then turned into a diner. They kept the same building shape though.

Try the one on S. Academy Blvd. in Colorado Springs. 🥰

Hi crish this video is soo cool the Classic pizza hut cool. Hi crish have a great summer.

I was worried about not seeing any of the nasty red plastic cups. You came though at 3:43. I remember those the most. lol
I remember when i had a pizza hut near me idk what it use to look like but now its it clossed down and changed.

It looks a lot like i remember it looked in the 70s
This classic pizza hut set up was the second best spot to enjoy good pizza after the classic phase 1-3 chuck e cheese too..💯
My daughter got the free pizza for reading ! I didn't even know it was a thing til she brought it home 😅
I like the new intro
i didn’t know they had these classic stores, they look awesome
There's an original Pizza Hut, totally untouched and eat in style located in Salem OH right on State St across from Stadium GM car dealership.
please go to Northridge California chuck e cheese they have both a 2 stage and dance floor and i love your vids too Chris
I wish there was a dine in pizza hut near me. Cool video!
Funny enough I live really close to one here in NC
Noble Romans personal pizzas were popular. Think they were mostly Midwest though iirc ❤
That always had the kids happy getting their free pizza and handing over their little certificate for reading, I'd make them whatever they wanted, not just one topping lol
I miss these old Pizza Hut , oh the smells and memories .

We had an OG Pizza Hut just a few years ago. Built a new one and shut the old one down.
Perry, Iowa has one. Perry has had some tough times the last few years. If your near Perry, come into the Hut, and support it and the town. It has great food and specials!

Wow!
If you are looking for more places with animatronics I would recommend Great Wolf Lodge. They have 2 different stage types.
Thanks for the heads up. I'll check them out!
Still good
I remember when they brought out the big cast iron pans with your pizza in it.
I really wish one of these would come within 2 hours of Los Angeles. I would be there. This is a core childhood memory.
That crust is golden when done right...only corporate I like for pizza...
One of my first jobs was at a Pizza Hut in the 80s
🍕🍕 I worked at one in the 80's , those rayon uniforms were terrible 😅😂🤣
Didn’t they also offer pitchers of soda? You could refill on the fly yourself
i can smell the garlic already.
That looks like cool pizza hut
Pizza Pete kinda looks like Little Ceasar in different clothes. It’s like some bazaar “concept Unification” process.
Lol very true
“Remove mask,Lionclothe and spear, install the Pizza Pete, mask, and outfit”
I use to cheat on book it to get my personal pan pizza. Lol. Nostalgia
I miss the buffets
Yum now I want one 😅
Now I have to have pizza hut
Still open

I miss Pizza-Inn
That was my favorite.
I miss Pitt grill as well.
Hopefully there are dozens more of classic pizza hut locations around the world like this as they better not do like CEC 2.0 at update them..smh
Book it was a school program where you read so many books and then you got a coupon for a free personal pan pizza
But what was your drink cherry coke goes best with a personal pan.
Do a pizza inn comparison!!👍👍👍

hey remember America 🙂
Just like the pizza hut in NH.... It's empty... Take out is their bread and butter.
How come you did not eat pizza at Chuck-E-Cheese?
I eat Chucky Cheese pizza all the time, this video isn't even Chuck E. Cheese, what in the world are you talking about?
Can you go to the Chuck E. Cheese headquarters
They are no longer allowing public tours unfortunately 😞
Uhhh We Still Have One Located In Georgetown Ohio...
the reason its called pizza hut is because the sign they had only could hold 8 letters when first opening
Did you get your personal pizza free?
No, I did not, if only I had read just a few more books lol
Can't understand why they would not have a Miss Pac Man or Astroids at this location....'classic' and all
