Once again Kelly your rationale and explanation for picking this song is very clear. It’s been a voyage of rediscovery for me, listening to Pearl Jam. Thanks for covering this. Absolutely agree with you that the solo is all about feel and mastering those Mercedes bends!
When I heard this song's intro for the first time, which is considerably more difficult in comparison to the solo, I expected the solo(s) include really difficult runs but it didn't. It's slow and tasteful and perfect just the way it is.
Thank you so much for taking the time to do this. I love this song. Now I play this and impress my sister who loves Pearl Jam! This made my day. Please keep up the great work.
Awesome lesson. I just recently watched "Super Pumped", a Netflix series about how the Uber compamyu was formed and how the company conducted itself to cause the founder to loose his top position. Last scene closed out with Yellow Ledbetter song. So fitting for the ending, and I got motivated to learn the solo. You sure helped me with that learning process. Thank you for your exceptional style of teaching.
Excellent solo, sounds just like Jimi. Actually when I first heard it, I thought it was. Wish you would've done the whole thing but you told us why. Your the best Kelly.
Thank you much! I feel like you're checking out my YT history, haha. I am exactly at the skill level you targeted this for. I recently tried to tackle this by watching a different video and I basically didn't make it passed "part 1". You got me through the whole thing in about 1-2 hours. I could play along with you at about 80% playback speed. Now I just need to work it up to speed.
Awesome video! You are definitely becoming my favorite. One question though. You mention bending to the blue note. The blue note is for the key of c# minor correct? Since the song is in the key of E would it not technically be bending into the minor 3rd? Learning theory I am.
Do you by chance have a video regarding the intro? After watching this video I think I would benefit greatly from it if you do. Thank you for the video
Is that a new guitar in your collection? I don't recall seeing it before. Anyway, great tutorial as usual. Beginner stuff is always welcome, I already spend too much effort at work 🥴
Well, not trying to be rude or anything but theory isn't for beginners in my opinion. You need to develope a real taste for playing before you ever indulge in the why's and how's.
As far as solos go, of course there are really easy ones, but kind of boring to play. This is a relatively easy solo for beginners. It doesn't have any quick runs.
The absolute best tutorial on TH-cam! Thanks
@@Dimebag4510 cheers mate, thanks!

Fantastic lesson. Easy to follow. Not only a perfect solo for my beginner/intermediate skill but sure to be a hit with the ladies. 👍

Always loved this song but never tried to play it. I thought it would be to complicated but I am encouraged now to give it a try.
Kelly you are so incredibly efficient on your tutorials. Hats off!
Excellent tutorial Kelly! Very well explained and demonstrated. Lots of great tips.
Thanks Gary! As always my friend.
Cheers Kelly for putting out such excellent content and making this great video. It was so good that I am now a subscriber, from North Wales Uk !

I am so glad you do these videos!
Great Lesson , Kelly!👍👍
Awesome lesson! Thank you so much
Thanks!
Dude! Seriously? Thanks ever so much for that man. Really really awesome. Much appreciated.
Greatest tutorial ever!!! Just subscribed.
Such a SWEET song 🎵 I can't play this on my acoustic, but I was more than happy to watch and listen song ❤❤❤
Great breakdown!

That's fantastic! Glad it helped you out. Have fun with it.
Never thought about learning a Pearl Jam solo. You just changed that. Thanks Kelly!
This one's a beauty. Just a lovely solo.
Very insightful lesson Kelly!
Thanks Claudio!
In the words of Lloyd Christmas, "I was WAY off!" Thanks for showing me the way.
Another great first solo is Comfortably Numb. Very pentatonic with a smooth flow, and great but simple techniques.
This is the first solo I was taught during guitar lessons.
Seems to be a common occurrence from what I've seen. Thus the video I suppose. It's a really really good starter solo.
Super cool.
This solo is perfect for me, I'm in that late beginners stage. I was wondering if you have the Tabs available for this?
Very nice
Hi Kelly, I just ran across your Perfect Circle video. Could you do a lesson on this. I love that groove ✌️
time stamps for me 6:08

Imagine this comment was clever and insightful and not just something to propel the algorithm.
Lol, thanks man!
I just found it, so how about a James Hetfield quote “the riff is the basis of a song!” Algorithm gold
I love lessons like this that explain what I am. What effects are you running to get this tone, and are you using neck and bridge pickups??
Do you by chance have a video regarding the intro? After watching this video I think I would benefit greatly from it if you do.
Thank you for the video
Not too familiar with this band but I like this solo. I’m right at that exiting beginner entering intermediate stage so I am gonna practice this one!
Seems like it would be perfect for you. Good luck with it.

Anyway, for you to tell us what your amp and pedal settings are??
The sound, the color, the shape. What IS that guitar? Fine, fine, fine
That is a Godin SD24
This solo always reminded me of the "David Gilmour feel".
If you want a really easy solo for beginners. Yngwie Malmsteen's Black Star is pretty easy. Takes about 5 minutes to learn.
Took me a few weeks that one. Really tough.
Hey Kelly! Could you please check out the solo to Stone Temple Pilot’s “And So I Know” and give us a break down? It’s an excellent one!
Is that a new guitar in your collection? I don't recall seeing it before. Anyway, great tutorial as usual. Beginner stuff is always welcome, I already spend too much effort at work 🥴
It's the last guitar that I bought a couple of months ago. Interesting looking thing isn't it? It's a Canadian made Godin. Good guitars.
@@KellyDeanAllenGuitar Yes, very interesting! I envy you !😅Haha, congrats on the new acquisition, cheers!
I have a question since I’m a beginner what I have to do if my guitar doesn’t have whammy bar ?
Use a big wide vibrato with your fingers if you can.
Do you have guitar courses available? Theory / technique beginner to master type stuff? I'll buy it.
Well, not trying to be rude or anything but theory isn't for beginners in my opinion. You need to develope a real taste for playing before you ever indulge in the why's and how's.
You are crushing those other guitar players’ feelings. They’re easy! 😂
Was that a Canadian accent? *checks amp* Ahhh, yep.
Not for beginners, bro😂
Actually......yes it is. Totally pentatonic and smooth transitions.
My first solo was actually the Alive tutorial by Kelly!
Easy beginner???😅

Thanks man! Appreciate that very much.
