    Interesting! I just received the email saying they have shipped mine and I noticed the address was from China and I always thought it would come from California, I seen a video of people testing the play button and took it out of it's frame and on the back it says made in USA... I'm confused lol

    • @philip4193
      @philip4193 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      It's probably assembled into it's presentation frame in the US, thus they can claim "made in USA"; a common scam.

    Winston you've got a set of brass! Every video you produce you turn things up a notch. I've said it before and I'll say it again China owes you an Ambassadorship to western cultures. You've done more good for China on social networking than they could ever hope to achieve with a team of employees. Stay Awesome!

      cachem11, I think Winston's honesty and great camera footage showcases the best and worst in China. *That level of honesty is 100% appealing. It makes people trust him and his opinions and like the guy says he 💕 China.* You can see that in his videos. He makes me want to visit China and I had zero interest in doing that before finding his TH-cam so yeah he's a superb Ambassador for China (unofficial).

    • @cachem11
      @cachem11 7 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      He used to be great, but there are way too much of complaining and whining in the past two years. Not to mention those offensive clickbait titles. I understand he needs views to make a living, but when the subject of the title is a country or a nationaliy, that's discrimination.
      He only knows a limited amount of people and have only extensively lived in Shenzhen, which cannot represent China as a whole. However, he keeps saying ALL Chinese people believe blah blah blah and do blah blah blah, that simply is not true. People through out the country are huge culturally diverse and he should be expected to do a much better job given he has been living in China for more than 10 years. People get pissed off when they were misunderstood.
      He criticizes Chinese for bad driving manners, but himself always split lanes, cut others off and even driving in wrong direction when riding his bike. Double standards make me sick.
      Just a little perspective why he gets so much hates.

    • @redsyrup1138
      @redsyrup1138 7 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      cachem11, Nobody's perfect. Including Winston. General statements and stereotypes are what they are and *I think most people recognize such statements as not being true 100% but more or less true 51%.* As an American who now has an interest in visiting China I've got to say it's because of him. Not American media TV, Movies, PBS, BBC, National Geographic etc. It's because Winston has captured a lot of what's cool about China and presented it here on TH-cam. Every country needs a Winston documenting the nooks and crannies. It's the in-between spots that make a beautiful picture.

    • @rocko6439
      @rocko6439 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cachem11: viewers can form their own opinion base on what they see and hear, just like you. Winston is giving his viewers his opinion based on what he has experienced. If you have a different experience than Winston, then you will think negatively about what he says and you attack him. There's no reason to attack Winston.

I'd have no way of knowing how a billion people live on this planet without you providing the videos. Keep up the good work. It's important.

      It is common for companies to guard their premises, esp. against unknown people. Would you open your door to an unknown person? No, the barriers come up as they should.
      @DavidRsaid: UK Farmers have nothing to hide, everything is there to be seen and gets inspected all the time. But just as this factory, just don't turn up at a farmer's door and ask (demand) to see how they food/produce is made. No one is going to let you just walk about their premises, who knows what your intentions are. BTW: Theft of farm vehicles is common, thieves do a prliminary visit, say no more.

    You said "现在没空“ to the security guard, and translated it as "I've got to run now." That's not exactly accurate, and is actually quite rude. "现在没空“ actually means "I don't have the time right now." I only use it to refuse street solicitors. I think the appropriate message would be "我还有事,先走了哦。“ which is "I've got other matters to take care of, so I have to leave." Anyway, I enjoy all your videos, I am just trying to prevent you from turning into the "odd foreigner".

    You can't check the factory out for one simple reason: the factory has the obligations to TH-cam to keep thing wrapped up tidily. Trade secrets or what ever information is confidential for TH-cam has to be safely guarded in factory ground.
    In that factoey on their production line you are most likely to find product of other companies. There is too much risk for them to let you in. They can lost their contract or get sue.

    • @jmitterii2
      @jmitterii2 7 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      They likely won't get sued, as there are very little respect for such property rights in China. But the larger risk is losing the contract.

    • @wizardmix
      @wizardmix 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't think it's as much about getting sued as it is about losing business.

    • @wizardmix
      @wizardmix 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      +Moosey1789 what we really should understand is that working conditions and environmental safety ARE different from Western standards in nearly ALL factories in China, not just the one that provides silver play buttons for TH-cam. The clothing you wear, the shoes on your feet and the device you are staring at right now were all likely produced in similar conditions. These conditions aren't perceived as "bad" necessarily by the Chinese, it's just a factory to them. If that's something we'd like to change (have the Chinese adopt U.S. perceptions and standards -- for better and not), we first have to be willing to pay for US workers under US regulations.

    • @FlameRat_YehLon
      @FlameRat_YehLon 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you are just visiting the production area then you probably can't see any confidential information at all. In fact the factory would probably photo the production line to brag on their marketing material. The more reasonable explanation is that the factory isn't a public museum, it costs time (and maybe money and production cycles) to have visitors. If you are not a customer then, why would the factory want you to visit?

      I'm not sure if sending his name to them was a smart move, because we know what people on chinese internet say about him. Once they search for him they will find stuff that tells them "this laowai wants China to look bad..." and he asks them if the can visit the factory. Something tells me that the chances of them telling him to come are VERY, VERY low.

  • @pwkn86

    why not ask TH-cam themselves if they can set you up with a tour of that factory?

    • @pwkn86
      @pwkn86 7 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      I obviously know this as i as well live in Shenzhen. You obviously don't understand what I'm saying. Not owning a factory has nothing to do with what I'm saying. What I'm saying is he would have a better chance with the help from the company (Google) that's paying the factory (and giving them work) to be able to do a tour of it. That's all so..with critical thinking it doesn't take much to come to that conclusion. Horrible communication or not it's always worth a shot.

    This was a fun one. No thinking required, just sat here, drank some hard cider and went along for the ride. I think a video about the factories in China would be cool. We hear lots of stories, good and bad, but never really get to see them. I was surprised by the lack of movement of people or equipment running around. The drone footage was great to see. Puts things in perspective a bit more.
