REVEALING the Spec of My FERRARI 296 GTS! My Car is Ready NOW

- There's a Ferrari 296 GTS at The Shmuseum, so let's reveal the FULL SPEC of the upcoming Shmeemobile! You'll be surprised by my curveball choice for this, and quite how soon it's going to be arriving... Join me for a first 296 drive in the UK, and why I'm so excited for this Ferrari!
Having announced a year ago that the Ferrari 296 GTS is joining my collection, I've been tight-lipped on my spec and further details. Well, fast forward, and my car is now built and at the end of the production line in Maranello, which means it's time to go through the details and share it all! For the purpose, we are joined by a Blu Corsa demo GTS from HROwen Ferrari, my supplying dealer.
Coincidentally, while I've previously received the pictures of the body panels before and after paint, it's while I'm out driving the 296 GTS for the first time in the UK, that I receive the picture of the completed car ready for final sign-off and ultimately transport to my dealer. In terms of the drive; it's not my first time in a 296 of either form, but it is on home turf which means a more familiar road experience and terrain to compare what it's like. It has to be said that Ferrari hit a home run with this car, it's simply fantastic.

Given Ferrari's history, and in fact back in the 1960s introducing the 6-cylinder Dino as a more 'entry level' model, my choice is to pay tribute to that with the exterior colour in Rosso Dino. For this I've opted to keep it single colour without the contrast roof, and added both the Scuderia Shields and yellow calipers sitting behind the Aluminium matt Grigio Corsa wheels, along with the full suite of exterior carbon fibre upgrades.
On the inside I've created an unusual two-tone configuration with Charcoal for the upper surfaces and Grigio Scuro for the seats and lower dashboard. These are finished off with a matching Arancio orange stitch including the embroidered headrests, and on the steering wheel which features the Carbon Fibre LED driving zone.
There's no question it's a bit different to my regular Ferrari choices, which to date have always been blue of different sorts, but this time around we're going for my first ever red Ferrari.

@@madalex26editing video is one thing but making a script and shooting is another. As triple f shown shmee does one take videos which are more painful to do . So he has less edits .

Have to say, in my opinion, you've nailed the spec! I've watched you spec other cars and sometimes thought "mm, not sure about that" but when it arrives it always looks good. I'm looking forward to seeing the car and what plate you use, also your story behind your choices. Well done fantastic!

Perfect spec. The ONLY thing I would have done differently, and I’m surprised you went so “safe” in the interior, is to have the same red in the stitching applied to the center panels of the seats! That would have been epic.

I have spec'd 1,000's of 296's on the Ferrari configuration and never has that color combo come to my mind. Tim absolutely has a knack for putting specs like this together. Obviously when you have the ability to physically own the cars it is way different but still. Credit where it is due! Cannot wait to see this thing in the garage.
There's a reason why lol orange and yellow don't go well together

Imagine the difference in feel if someone picks up a more 'track focused' spec for the 296GTS - the upcoming 'Speciale' version, with the carbon seats, etc! The way the configuration/spec changes the feel of this car - a very versatile platform.

Great spec, a red Ferrari for Shmee, never thought I would see the day, but love it!!! Reminds me of the orange-red of F1 Ferrari's of the early 2000s.
I went for a similar spec in terms of carbon + wheels. Kudos for going for something different, particularly the interior. I did Abu Dhabi blue, which is great. I got it at the start of summer and it's been amazing. Enjoy when she arrives!

I remember back when the ferrari f430 spider with rosso dino colour is so rare and I loved it so much, and surprisingly I guessed and hoped right that Tim will get the 296 gts with this color. Can't wait for the delivery day!
I think the 296 has some subtle 05-06 Ford GT styling cues. Beautiful car.

I'm glad to see the two blues side-by-side; I wanted to see that ever since you did your 296 GTS launch video. Your SF 90's Blu Elettrico is by far the more stunning colour. Seeing the two cars together confirms my thought the the 296 GTS' Blu Corsa is just a bit too washed out for my taste. Your Blu Elettrico, whilst a tad bit richer, is still a bright enough shade of blue that it captures my eyes and won't let go; stunning! It is quite literally the ultimate shade of blue! Your gray on gray interior spec is calling my name as well. If I was able, I'd borrow the Blu Elettrico from your SF 90 and put it on a 296 GTS wearing your two-tone gray interior. The only amendment would be blue contrast stitching. There you have it, my perfect Shmee150-inspired one-and-done Ferrari. (Time to see if the configurator will accommodate this spec!)
Speaking of well-spec'ed cars, I should have never traded my US Spec 5-speed manual 1.8T 1998 VW Passat-not quite your league Tim-in Fjord Blau with a gray on gray cloth interior. I kept it from new for 20-years and have missed it ever since. With an updated OEM single-DIN radio featuring a USB-A port, a mobile holder clipped to my air-con vent and my iPhone, the only mod-cons missing were the radar (and camera) based driver aids. I expect you'll get all those with the 296 GTS either as standard features for daily road use or simply for safety's sake. That's a beautiful prancing horse you've spec'ed; I can't wait for your videos with it. Please make sure to do at least one comparison video with both your road focused Ferraris in a side-by-side drive after you've finished the break-in period. Then you can let them both rip on, say, a derestricted section of the autobahn. It'll look brilliant and it'll sound glorious! Well done Tim; congratulations!
I should also say thanks for helping me recall fondly the old Blau-&-Grau car that I could afford! I miss her terribly yet dearly…. I can only imagine the deeply passionate feelings you must have for the memories and desires wrapped up in your collection, the colleagues who've helped you along the way and your partner/camerawoman. Carry on living every guy's dream!
