The one that got flipped caused it to fall forward cause of its struggling in so allowing the hawk to get the literally a death grip...the one that got flipped was a waste of feathers!

The largest, brave chuck started to fight before his throat was grabbed by the hawk, and he was the first to die before the hawke moved on and killed his siblings, eating from them while they were still alive. I accept nature but the terrible reward for such innocent courage bothers me. I hope there's a bird heaven for that little guy.
The osprey chicks were large enough to resist the goshawk to any degree, so the three birds could have fought it off if they had worked together to attack the goshawk. If the parent birds had joined them, they would not have been killed.... Crows have that wisdom, but ospreys do not....

I love how one of them sits on top of its brethern or sisters to make sure the hawk cant fly off even when its trying to push him off very brave.

The ospreys' parents do not fight. The young ones pretend to be dead, but, in danger of their lives, they stand up to scare the enemy away.

It’s not “trained”. The legs of babies are banded. Those are the only ones they can band for research. These birds are completely wild.
These are wild birds. Rings are placed on chicks. Hawk is not trained, he follows his instinct.
