Dude Great step by step.. im getting ready for this swap as well.. Much appreciation!!
Thank you! Such a fun project 🤙🤙 enjoy it!
Great video. One question just for clarification, when doing this on a 2007 JKU Rubicon going from the 3.8 V6 and stock drivetrain to a 5.7 hemi and 8hp70 transmission, what is needed to be able to use the stock transfer case?
@@wademyers6051 thank you, here is the answer to your question hopefully 🙏🤙, if not let me know 🙏

For my 2020 Wrangler hemi swap, I bought a donor (rollover run n drive) 2020 GC SRT w/the 392 mated to the 8hp70 already. I assume I can drop the whole thing in as is? Thanks for any thoughts.
We tried using the GC cast headers and they were too big for our project so we used the c300 headers in Eriks jeeps and in my jeep I used 6.1 gc headers.
I'm not sure about the tcase from the GC, are you planning on using that? Or your jeeps tcase?
Would live to hear an MPG report as well from the swap;)
Pre swap with the nag1 and 6.4, I was averaging around 11mpg City-ish and 12-13 highway. And now I can easily get 13.5-14 City-ish, and 15.5 highway. When I had the cheap milestars and the 8hp, I was able to get 17.6mpg on the highway. Now I have sst pro 37s. They have a little more meat and weight
Great work!
Thank you sir! 🤙🙏
@@jku392adventuresDoes the neutral lock out & shifter cable both need to be removed as well if you're keeping the 3.6 pentastar doing the 8 speed swap?
@@beachboy4928 you would remove that because that would only attach to the nag1 shifter 🤙
@@jku392adventures Ok just to confirm both cables need to be removed then?
@@beachboy4928 I am 99% sure you can remove them both. Just like I did in the video 🤙🤙
Do you know where I can get the software to view the performance data?
The easiest way is to download the torque app and get a Bluetooth obd adapter and use your phone. If you want to use your computer you can get HP tuners but you'll need to buy an obd adapter and thats $400 for HP tuners. Using the torque app is probably $25 for the Bluetooth obd
Perfect, will go that route. Thanks for making this video, I used it as the primary “how to” for installing the 850RE 8 speed to my 3.6 in my 2014 rubicon. Just waiting on a custom Tom woods rear driveshaft since my JE REEL 1310 was too long….@@jku392adventures
@@jku392adventuresany certain Bluetooth OBD2 adapter you recommend? Saw one at harbor freight for $55.
Definitely don't use brake switch as power source for 8HP. If anything gets shorted in stop lights circuit and fuse blows, you wont even be able to move. Use reliable fused source directly from battery.
This is a good point. I was only thinking that the controller won't damage the brake lights, but there's always a chance that the brake light wiring could short out and pop the controller fuse. Good looking out 🤙🤙
