Here are the books that Ustad Rashid mentioned: - Lost Islamic History: Reclaiming Muslim Civilization from the Past by Firas Alkhateeb - Hidden Debt to Islamic Civilization by Al-Djazairi - The Preaching of Islam II edition by Thomas Walker Arnold - The Ornament of the World: How Muslims, Jews and Christians Created a Culture of Tolerance in Medieval Spain by Maria Rosa Menocal - Islamic Science and the Making of the European Renaissance by George Saliba - Sephardic and Mizrahi Jewry: From the Golden Age of Spain to Modern Times by Zion Zohar - The Legacy of Muslim Spain by Salma Khadra Jazakh'Allah Kheyr brother for this lecture.
Ya sheikh, my gratitude towards you is beyond description.... You taught me so much. May Allah bless you and may he grant you a long life so that you may effectively serve the Muslim Ummah! Really looking forward to meet you Inshallah!
It brings tears to my eyes thinking where we once were and where we are now. My hope is to promote different aspects of our identity, religion and culture through videos. I think we can also use the film industry to create historical tv shows and films (e.g. Ertugrul or Osman)
This is a very informative lecture. The two questions that were mainly focused during most of the time truly are what has been lost. Although I am following the series "Unveiling the Muslim Civilisation", I benefited from this lecture very much. In my opinion, interactive lectures (where the lecturer is talking to someone present there with them and so things like questions, comments (from the host), etc. also come up along the discussion) are easier to follow, more direct and more efficient.
Masha Allah Adnan sir your lectures are very inspiring to know our past how Muslims master in field of education specially in science n every field Masha Allah ,it's time to we need to revive our past in sha Allah
Salaamalakuim @Adnanrashid for your outstanding lecture may allah bless you. Question would you suggest the book “Muslim Spain and Portugal” by Hugh Kennedy?
Mr. Adnan your background is so cute. I really really want me and many learn history from Adam to us... So kind of God to guide us at every second of everyone's life. أشهد أن لا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له وأشهد أن محمدا عبده ورسوله (صلى الله عليه وسلم )
Salam Alaikum, any book you would suggest about history about Mecca and Medina during Pre-islamic and the rising of Islam from other civilization's perspective or Archeology. Thank you
a Salamu aleykum uncle. I must point out a huge mistake being made in the first book you recommended. ,,Lost islamic history" in that book, in the chapter of Uthman ra. it is written: ,,In 656, a group of soldiers from Egypt came to Medina to protest directly to the caliph regarding his policies and the division of spoils between the army and the civil government in Egypt. He listened to both sides of the dispute and promised to take steps to solve the problems equitably. On their return to Egypt, the soldiers intercepted a letter supposedly written by the caliph to the governor of Egypt ordering their execution " Uthman never has written such a letter, that is a huge mistake being made by the author and it is a huge Lie. It should have been represented as a Lie and not stated normal. Just wanted to warn the brothers and sisters who will read the book. Despite that i like the book a lot. barak allahu feek
A lot of people talk about how much knowledge was lost when the Library of Alexandria was burned I would say a similar amount of knowledge was lost when the Mongols destroyed the House of Wisdom
