Oncidium, abbreviated as Onc. in the horticultural trade, is a genus that contains about 330 species of orchids from the subtribe Oncidiinae of the orchid family (Orchidaceae). The Oncidium grows wild in the jungles of Central and South America. In the wild Oncidium can be found on trees and in rock crevices. It occurs both at the coast and in the mountains. Common names for plants in this genus include dancing-lady orchid, golden shower orchid, tiger orchid.
