Man just wanted to say, Bought a Solstice GXP myself recently, without takin into account how rare these roadsters are. Almost no one remembers them and few mechanics know how to work em. You're the first guy i've found actively posting new vids now and since the Sky was Saturn's rebranded Solstice, everything translates perfectly between sister cars, these vids are a life saver, thanks a bunch & keep it comin.
Enjoying the videos man. I like seeing possible mods before I do them. This is great for those of us that don’t have the money for trial and error. Thanks.
Thanks Luke. I'm glad you like them. There aren't many videos out there for the Saturn Sky or Pontiac Solstice....except for the "for sale" videos. Hopefully I can help others with mods installations that you may be thinking about.
As far as mounting the resisters you could lengthen the wires and remount them with mounting screws in a more appropriate location. Use proper wire connectors with heat shrink tubing to seal them watertight. Great video, I’m gonna do this mod on my 06 Solstice.
Like your videos! If you make mistakes ( like the rest of us do !) you show it! Like me installing a new water pump, sensor and then figuring out it’s probably the overflow tank sensor all along! Self tapping screws can be your friend!😀
@@MikesHouseOfMods thanks for the reply! The bulbs you used are no longer for sale… I guess I’ll research some comparable lights. GOOD LUCK on your real estate business. for a cleaner look for the resistor, put a dab of RTV under them and zip tie them to the metal until the RTV cures (make sure to clean the metal and the mounting surface of the resistor of all oil or the RTV wont stick), then remove the zip ties. The resistor metal case should be sufficient to dissipate the heat, as long as the fins are not plugged with dirt/RTV - physically mounting them to the metal would make the metal piece a heatsink - but probably overkill.
JDM sells switchback wiring harnesses to where one doesn’t have to cut wires it’s just plug and play and I love you car I want one or the Pontiac model but it won’t be my daily driver so it will last a long time. Good day! RJ
I think you should get sequential turn signals for the rear lights. It's definitely possible I saw a video on it earlier they look really cool on that car.
HI Mike: Was cruising thru this install, thank to you, and then hit a snag. The bulb was not as snug as thought when I put the light back in and the bulb fell out is now stuck in the casing. An ideas on how to get it out, or how to get the casing apart? And to top it off, I think it was a bad bulb!! Thank you
Its very rare to Saturn videos. Owning a 2008 Saturn Aura, I'd love to change out some the lights for LED's to make the car a bit nicer. However, I can't find a video on youtube of someone taking out hte headlight and putting in LED's.
Hi Peter. This is actually one of my favorite mods. The not only is the white light cool (when no signals are being used), but the white lights work as nice bright road lights that work well with the normal head lights. It really brightens it up in front of you without blinding on-coming traffic. Much better than the stock fog (or road) or road lights.
@@peterscapi Yep. They're perfectly fine. The resistors never get hot enough to cause a problem. Here's a link to them on Amazon. amzn.to/3bElZ9F if you're interested in buying them.
Dude it looks beautiful, I love the mods your doing, I'm actually going to do the same thing, I'm also going to install the short shifter you did as well, and I'm also installing the exedy stage 2 racing clutch too see how it drives but I don't know much about the clutch installment, do you??
The project I wish I could find on TH-cam would be an iPad-Dash install, for a Saturn Sky that's something I wish I could do for my Saturn Sky but I don't have any idea on how to

I have a Sky. I saw this video - then ordered the same turn signals. Installed 'em. Looks great. Thanks.
McLean Blades That's awesome. I really like mine and they're still going strong.

Looks like a hose clamp would hold that resister. They are cheap and found everywhere.
Self tapping screws.
I hope you figure that out. Because I'm saying something years after the fact.
Good videos BTW.
Are the switch back lights still working fine? Also did the bulbs ever come loose?
Switchbacks are still working fine. Bulbs are fine too

I bought some switchback lights from a company ALTA lighting from Amazon and we’ll see how it works…!
Looks great. This is my next mod.
congrats dude. This took me about an hour, because I couldn't figure which wires to tap into, putting the bulbs in. OMG
Too bad you didn't video the installation. That would have saved me some time....lol.
sorry dude. Im looking for some sequential for the brake lights. Ill video if I find them lol
I've been thinking about getting these. sweeplite.com/SKY.html
webelectricproducts.com/ There you can find them at 50 USD for the 2 headlights!

Adding this to my Solstice. Going to do the fog lights at the same time.

Well that sucks. You may need to remove the lower facia that has the light housing to get the bulb close to the hole.
Need advice on headlight assembly
Anything specific?
Velcro strips can be used...rc double sided tape.👍 you can find it in a hobby shop
Stupid question... There is a bar over top the turn signal... Did you take that out?
Super cool video!
Thanks.

thanks for the vid! just got a pair and about to install them. I'll probably just use metal zip ties
Cool. Show hem off once they're installed :) BTW, I still have the plastic zip ties on there and they're working fine.
right angle drill would mount that quick
getting ready for spring time and some mods for the Sky, how did this hold up for you?

Leave the resistors where they are. Just use metal wire straps available at Harbor Freights
Great idea about the metal straps.. I do hvac work too and have plenty of metal hangers that work too! Thanks for the idea

get an extension for your bite and some self tapping screws. the zip ties are going to melt
Thanks Chris. I can see if I can do that. Someone suggested stainless steel zip ties. That may be easier.
wow I did the exact same thing you did.
OOPS, not available on Amazon anymore, I'll keep looking
Noooooooooooooo, you should have gotten the Amber-White-Amber ones!!!! Not the amber-off-amber
They still look nice tho
Do you have link to the Amber-white-amber? thanks.

Amber-white-amber look tacky. He got the right ones 👌🏻
