The star wolf fight looked like it was from fortuna, in the original this was by far the hardest boss in the game, Wolf is a pain in the ass to hit, if you brake he rams into you, if you summersault he hooks hard left or right and it takes a long time to get him in sight, and when you are finally behind him shooting, he does a summersault, what happened to that
If you summersault right after Wolf does, you'll get right back behind him. And boosting while tilted to the right makes turning to the right a helluva lot faster than using the brakes like JGB did, but you risk crashing more often.
It was late at night on my first playthrough here, just me and Falco arriving on Venom to defeat Andross. The Star Wolf battle was a lot harder since Peppy and Slippy were shot down back in Sector Z and Area 6 respectively. I persevered however, and dove into the base, destroyed Andross' hands, face, eyes, and brain, and with the help of James McCloud's spirit, I successfuly escaped from the explosion and returned to the Great Fox and Falco safe and sound.
The only thing keeping me from wanting to get this game is bland voice acting used. Case in point when Andross threatens to sacrifice Fox with him. N64 version: Andross:If I go down IM TAKING YOU WITH ME!" Fox:"AHHHHHHHHHH!" 3D: Andross: if I go down I'm taking you with me." Fox: ahhhh. There is literally no emotion anywhere in here and it's sad
This level always pissed me off because I definitely did not have all 4 of my team by that point...I once had all 4 of them against me, and man was that a tough battle. Oh the good old days playing that with the...RUMBLE PACK! Haha...the advertising for that back in the day was god damn amazing.
All 4 of star wolf by yourself is definitely a challenge, but a few well timed barrel rolls, summersaults and about 5 smart bombs will quickly drop their numbers.
In the original the Wolfen ships blended with the Venom background, making them more eerie and harder to spot. Here they stick out like a sore thumb and the fight isn’t that challenging.
I fist played this on n64. When I first saw andross, I was completely terrified. The junky model and the sound of his laughter made him too much for me.
You mean 227 hits, and idr exactly, but i believe it is possible to finish Venom 2 with 350 hits, but idk if it's a result of speed, or taking out Star Wolf in a particular order...
@@Dark_Wolf0626the trick is to hit the ships by letting them chase you and firing charged laser shots at the ground to add up to your kill counter. This is dangerous because they won't stop firing at you, and it's much harder to protect the team by doing so, but that's the optimal strategy, and how you get more hits than 227.
This level was a total nightmare!!! Just beaten for the first time earlier on Score attack mode because I couldn't be bothered to start all over again after losing all my lives.
@@CrasherX2000I mean you would be correct if your teammates had better AI, the entire fight they barely fight back alone and most the time even if you save them starwolf would be on their tail again adding two or even one wouldn't make much of a difference
It might be a _little_ overused, but dang it gives you a *really* intense ending to a brutal gameplay marathon (Area 6 + Gorgon -> Wolfen II Star Wolf -> True Andross fight, all with little to no rest in between. That is some intense difficulty if I've ever seen it). One of the best ways to end a game like this imo, cliche or not.
They lack a bit of "Oomph" in the 3DS version that the N64 did, but I played the N64 version recently and I think they did a pretty good job minus Andross. Andross saying "Ha ha ha" is just so awfully botched.
It's not better ship that helps you defeat your enemies Pigma. It's the better pilot. Yes, it is happening Pigma. That's what you get for betraying team Star Fox.
Why is the voice acting and the music so wack in this version ? Why is Nintendo messing so bad his own genuine IP's ? I didn't want to play this remake for those reasons.
I think the voice acting for some bosses, James and Andross were better than the original, except for the desynchronized laugh at the start of the fight
Drop the "wah wahs" they make you sound like a 5 year old. Most people prefer the original because of controls and old memories. The remake is equally as good as the original to those who prefer handhelds over consoles.
The escape while following James is this series most precious moments
and him using the quote that Peppy took in his memory "never give up trust your instincts" but makes it that much more impactful
“Give it up you can’t win”

"Stick to the pond, froggy."
This game is beautiful. Visually.
Especially on Solar

Andrew’s death in 64 sounded more dramatic
This time Slippy is alive on Venom 2 in the All-range mode and a medal if Fox survive Andross battle in two forms.
Star wolf in the 64 version is still my favorite.

Is it just me, or is it kinda weird that they changed up some of the dialog a tad bit? 🤔
They had an awesome voice for the remake, but the initial laugh should have been kept the same as the original.
Fox McCloud: Say Your Prayers, Andross!
This is probably nostalgia talking but I feel like the voice actors in the original expressed far more emotion.
That Wolf voice should have gotten somebody arrested.
Andross' laugh is the biggest downgrade they could've done
It's easier to use a U Turn when Andross teleports right behind you.

On the bright side at least, Andross in the Japanese version has a much MUCH better laugh when fighting him.
