YAAAAAAS! We're a whole family of silent/not-silent G I-dle fans, and your reaction will give me the perfect entertainment while putting my youngest (who can NOT stop singing their songs) to bed! THANK YOU, LANDOOOON!
Some song info (long comment): First, I-DLE or (G)I-DLE were both correct. They use IDLE when speaking in Korean, and G-IDLE when in English. LATATA -Their company failed to give them a debut song thus delaying their debut. Soyeon was so eager to showcase her group and members so she created this song and get the approval of the management. -Soyeon was into Latin and on one gagshow the host said, "LATA LATA LATA" which to her sounded like a magic spell. So she used that and turn it into LATATA, thus the "spell of love" which is the story of the song (the English version is more prominent with this theme) -The MV is quirky and childish, and doesn't even fit the meaning of the song. This is because they want to showcase their "Childhood" since their name I-DLE sounds like "AIDEUL" which means children in Korea. -At the start of the song, Soyeon and Soojin was shown with a fox mask. This was a throwback to Soyeon's 2 solo debut songs "JELLY" and "IDLE SONG" where Soojin was teased wearing that mask being called the "Fox Friend" (can't show her face yet since she haven't debuted that time). So this intro shows the one behind the mask and saying the wait and mystery is over. -The fire on Soyeon's cap was CGI, but she stated that she always wanted to incorporate real fire into her. ~~~~~~~~ HANN -Soyeon wanted to go along with a song with one syllable, and after conceptualizing came up with HANN, or being oneself, by yourself, thus being ALONE. It is about their resolve after a break up saying that they will forget that someone who broke their heart. This was later revealed as the 1st part of their song/story trilogy. -The MV have many symbolisms. The scorpion may represent the ex, who stung them after getting close. The desert, dead tree trunk, and ancient ruins may represent a solitary, forgotten, and empty life, which also connect to them waring black dress and veils, which to some cultures means mourning of someone who died. The colorful oasis, flower blooming on the sand represents hope and new life. FUN FACTS: -The scorpion was real. And yes Soyeon was poking it however it was too aggressive and attacking her. She and the crew was so scared but when the music starts Soyeon put on her brave face and finished the shoot quickly. -MINNIE did the whistle part ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SENORITA: -This is the title track of their 2nd album I-MADE, and was indeed a bop song, however they only won 1 award with this and the kfans didn't actually liked it (and awards were voted so yeah). And recently the girls opened up that this song was approved by their company and kinda forced to them, and they are still bashing it to today. -This is due to the fact that the song doesn't follow the standard song pattern, poor CGI, repetitive lines, too much advertisement, off-beat rap, etc. BUUUT all of these make total sense if you actually studied it. -The song may mean about a love at first sight (or even a one night stand) which is dangerous and often don't last. Thus the chaotic scenery and song pattern since you won't know where this relationship would go. the ending was abrupt as well since it may end at any moment. -Still, the wanted to taste that sweetness knowing the pain it may cause. This is symbolized by the razor blade inside the lollipop that Soyeon was eating at the beginning. -KAJA, which is the major sponsor gave them budget (and the biggest budget they had since debut), thus being fair with the in your face logos. But this represents that they can "Remain beautiful in the middle of the chaos." -Soyeon's off-rap beat was not liked by many since it was unusual. However if you check the lyrics, MV, and the meaning of it, she's saying "JUST FOCUS ON ME, ARE OTHER PEOPLE IMPORTANT?" stating that just focus on Soyeon and not get distracted by the MV, or explosions, or other people or her off-beat rap coz these are distractions. -Soyeon also consulted with a Brazilian artist to help her with the real Latin vibes FUN(?) FACT: -Some fire on the set were real, and the girls were concerned since the management only decided to use practical fire during the shoot. -The light bulb explosions during Soyeon's 1st line were real, and one flare went to her hair and burnt it. She continued the take knowing it happened (such a pro), however the damage was more intense that expected so she had to cut her hair short (this is why she got a short hair in UH-OH). ~~~~~~~~~~ UH-OH -At first this sounds like a song to their ex trying to comeback. It could be, but they stated that this was intended and dedicated to their haters and fake fans. -the UH-OH was actually from a staff from one of their commercials that always says "UH-OH~~" (just like the very last uh-oh). They were all into it, so Soyeon used that for this song. -Remember the fire thingy? Yes, Soyeon apparently love it so she have the mic on fire this time. She was scared then again, coz she also have to stand on a high platform. She said that the flame was so close to her that she can feel it while shooting. -The shoot during the Mad Max scene was so hot, bright and dusty, and Miyeon can barely open her eyes, you can notice it on some of her shots that she's just squinting. -MINNIE's melodic bridge part was created by Soyeon for her and her alone. She explained that since the song was hip-hop genre, MINNIE's dreamy voice will not show and be heard, so she added that part. ~~~~~~~~~ here's you potato (:;:;:;)
