  • I going to test the Toro Timemaster VS. the Toro Proline 32". This is a test on witch has more power, cuts faster, cuts better, and is better for the price.

    I have a 36 snapper belt drive and except for the reverse it's awesome.
    Just gotta drive it like a ski boat.
    Going through 2nd year with no parts replaced yet. Great machines!

      I bet Snapper doesn't make a belt drive any more! The only manufacturer that I know of that still makes a belt drive is Scag. It's unfortunate because belt drives used to be great and much more affordable and cheaper to maintain.

    I have a TM and no problems at all (over 130 hours on it). It cuts nicely and has never given me one problem. I take care of it. I noticed the commenters that have had problems with it are lawncare companies. Folks, it's a RESIDENTIAL MOWER, not a COMMERCIAL MOWER. What do you expect? Why didn't you get the commercial version? Wow...

    • @gls3894
      @gls3894 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Exactly!!!! I actually made the same comments on a different vid. Mine has about the same hrs as yours with no issues. Hands down the best RESIDENTAL mower on the market. But its residential and many folks are using it in commercial applications.

    • @Methodical2
      @Methodical2 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@gls3894 I just don't understand their logic. Toro has a commercial 30" for those folks. It sounds like they made a bad business decision and now they are trying to blame Toro for that bad decision.

      i use mine daily so ill chime in, it works fine, ive had minimal problems that i quickly handle myself. as far as why dont people like me get the commercial its because the main parts are the same its just quite a bit heavier, theres no real advantage to it. thats why this vid is interesting, the proline would be next step up.

      Lawncare services buy the residential because it's cheaper and easier than the turfmaster which easily runs over $2500.00 a pop. Their complaints are moot because they're putting lots of hours per day on a mower designed for strictly residential use. Also the turfmaster doesn't come with the personal pace system but instead a single speed driven transmission that's engaged by a bar you pull up underneath the handle.

    The Proline produces a far better cut than a Timemaster. It only looks bad because you're mulching really tall grass. Take the mulch kit off of the Proline and put on some high lift blades and you'll see a big difference.

    What parts did you have to replace on the time master? Was it poor quality control, or was it because the time master is more of a “prosumer” tool?

    • @BLKSG6
      @BLKSG6 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@davidvar9209 there’s a little flap on the right side held closed with a spring, and the discharge chute is a separate piece that clips on under the flap and holds it open. For mulching, you leave the flap closed. Typical design for Toro.

    Comparing a commercial $3500 mower with a 600cc engine to a residential $999 mower with a 223cc engine?
    Mulching grass that is too tall to mulch properly. Should be side discharging (double-cutting if necessary), and certainly should not have lowered the deck on the Timemaster for mulching this tall grass.
    Also you said you have the mulching kit on the Timemaster but it is obvious you are missing the mulch plug that fits into the discharge chute when mulching. That's why you have grass dumping out behind the mower under the discharge cover.

    • @daniellivingston268

      I did forget to put the plug in the time master and one mower may suite a potential buyer better than the other. That was the whole point of this video.

      rented one from the depot the other day it’s not worth the 1,200 dollars they’re asking for it. It was definitely a little quicker than my 21 but not 1,200 dollars quicker. If you’re gonna spend that much might as well save up a little more and go commercial it will last longer.

    I have both mowers. And the proline has much better cut quality. You have to make sure you are using mulching blades with mulch kit. But why are you trying to mulch such a high grass? Proline was designed to side discharge and with high lift blades. I bag with the proline on residential lawsn and its a beautiful clean look. I have the timemaster to bag only on small propertys where the proline does not fit with the bagger. You also were missing the mulch plug on the timemaster if were to be on it would’ve bogged down the timemaster cant mulch at all. It has 1/3 the power against the 600cc kawasaki engine with 30ftlb of torque

      Thinking of buying a Proline myself.
      Would just be for home use for now. Retirement gift.
      Would you recommend? Also looking at the Scag sfc30, but lack of reverse and smaller wheels are a concern
      I’d like to bag with the proline.
      TIA!

    • @mrbrandonaldana
      @mrbrandonaldana 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@herbb8412 yea i recommend it if if you have big yard 10k sqft or bigger. There is alot of factor to consider like toro has bigger foootprint so it can scalp easy if mowing low. And with a 30inch toro commercial or scag you wont scalp as easy. Baggin is easier with the 30inc mowers. Grass catchers on proline are expensive 300$ heavy steel ones or $500 for ligher aluminum. The proline 32 may have bigger wheels but weights 430 lbs and 30 inch mowers weight around 200 so is the sams thing. Baggin with proline 32 on a very bumpy lawn sucks because the high spot kicks the bottom of the grass catcher and disconect it from the mower. You must have a fairly level lawn.

    • @herbb8412
      @herbb8412 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Oh Timemaster, how many times I've drawled all over you at the local dealer, knowing I can't afford you, not by a long shot.. I still have to use and abuse my 2 used Honda HRX 216.. A month ago the line that regulates the power to the wheels snapped and I've lost the "walk behind" part of the mower while she became the push mower... I took her to get that line replaced and surprise, surprise- the dealer didn't have that part on him so he had to order it in.. To make the long story short, my baby started making money to me in a month... Grrr. And now, after just a few days of mowing I see the sucker leaving a nasty oil puddle wjenever the mower stays in the van over night.. I know I have to get myself a new mower, I know I can't afford one now cause I had some unexpected expenses but given all that I still don't know wether I should buy a Timemaster or another Honda HRX217..
