Turkey will surprise you in only positive ways. After visiting and living in many countries, Turkey was just an amazing experience. The people are the most capable and willing folk who will always find a way to help. Will be back there in a few months. Its a special place.
I was there in the military. Turkey is like many countries, many hate Americans due to their media and religion. It all depends on where you are and if you have money. You never want to go out alone. When we travel now, we go on tours with groups. It may not be the best option, but is the safest...
@@vonheisemany hate the US Government for meddling with Turkiye and the region for decades, but that hate doesn’t extend to Americans, unlike most Americans they’re generally smart enough to differentiate and aren’t prejudiced. We , Turks , do NOT hate Americans or any other nation, we have a very rich independent history which gives us the natural confidence of self determination. We are not obliged to follow anyone else’s political footsteps. And we are “ the key country in a unique geopolitical position to connect past to future, East to West and yes İslam to Christianity “ as in the exact words of an Australian diplomat I met many many years ago .
For us, Turkey was the best place for boat work in the Mediterranean. People were competent, followed through on their promises and were really nice. And I really liked the fabrication services available in most Turkish towns. And if you can, try to rent a car and drive inland to visit Cappadocia😮 - it was fantastically beautiful!
Jordan You got balls man. No matter what you do in life YOU will succeed. I'm 65 plus a Senior Quality Engineer at Rolls- Royce engines and admire your skills, confidence and passion.
I used to watch this channel occasionally but after I happened to see their 4 recap videos, my husband and I went back to episode one and just completed them all . This was the first time we binge watched a vlog! Great channel!
That's awesome! Thanks for watching! I hope some of our earlier videos weren't too painful to watch 🤣🤣 we've learned a lot about making videos over the years and it's sometimes hard to go back and watch from the beginning because we're so critical about each and every video 🫣
You're too hard on yourself@@ProjectAtticus. I watch a bunch of sailing vlogs... SLV, Zatara, Wind Hippie... your video production is by far the best and I'm sure you don't have the same resources as say SLV.
So I assume (dangerous I know) that the “Lead Keel” has just paint on it. Questions being: why not retrofit a couple of layers of fiberglass or carbon using micro drill holes to the keel? Wouldn’t the furthermore lead to better paint and anti-foul options?
I love that this boat is not white or gray. If you look through a typical parking lot or marina you'd think people get colorblind. Never overpaint with white. Looks so good.
I've always thought that you have the most beautiful boat I've ever seen. No joke, every time she gets hauled out and cleaned up, I'm blown away by her lines and colors.
The flowers you picked are called Anemones. In many countries, these flowers are protected and must not be picked. Let others also enjoy nature. Just so you would know for the next time... with love
Yes, you are right! And the penalty for plucking them in Turkiye is a very high figure of about 8000 US dollars for each flower. I must warn you that a bouquet you collect to make a gesture to your lover can cost you a fortune.
I know you guys were in a hurry, but I used to and loved to learn from your refits. This was so much important information in this single video each deserving its own Jordan way of doing/fixing/thinking it video… -How did they polish the topsides? -How did you tension the bob stay, device and percentages? Congratulations on so much work in 7 days.
As always that was so fun to watch, hope the new heater gives you years of comfortable warmth! Seeing Isabella at the end smiling so broadly was so nice. Hope all of you are having your best days and continue to do so!
Nice to be able to live in a work of art. And to travel the world in it. Not necessarily an easy life, but one full of wonders. Congrats and many thanks for bringing us along with you.
Absolutely love the colors on your home! One of the prettiest combinations I've seen on a boat. Great job in the yard, & it's obvious you got hooked up with some great people there.
So beautiful, all polished up. Looks brand spanking new. And, and, and, look at all those baby teeth. Growing so fast. They don't stay babies long. Enjoy all the time with her, even all the jot so good stuff. Love you guys
Isabella is such a beautiful and content-looking kiddo! Your boat is beautiful too! Her hull design really is a work of art, and you can see that the boatyard guys really take pride in their work-that gloss on the topsides is incredible.
Great job Jorden I admire your skills and confidence happy sailing with your family. Atticus is looking beautiful for your next adventures. ❤ Ian Thailand.
Jordan I realize some of it is done thru the magic of editing but to watch you complete challenging projects (ex. heater replacement) versus your early days on the Atticus refit is night and day. Your skill set, confidence and overall knowledge is so much different now adays. So glad you left Atticus 2 in her Xmas colors, she is such a good looking boat! Cheers you four ..... 😊
I have 2 x grilled intakes, one each side of the hull, = Redundancy. Both supply All SW requirements to sea chest via 50 micron strainer, = less UW holes & crap in the lines (like seaweed in WM, heat exchanger). All fittings/lines are HD Poly (Blue Line PN12.5), = no corrosion, seals or clamp failures (especially spider clamps).
Damn brother, grey in the beard and a kid! 😂 I've watched you so long I've literally watched YOU grow up. Young guy out for adventure, now a dad doing cool dad adventures.
Hi Jordan. That diesel pump of the Eberspächer heater is not mounted correctly and could stop working anytime. The pump must be mounted at an angle (not vertical and not horizontal). Have a look at the manual, as to the inclination required. Also, switching on and off is not immediate. The device is optimizing its procedures to avoid sud and therefore needs some time before starting or shutting off after you pressed the buttons accordingly. That behaviour is thus normal. God luck and regards from Switzerland, Silvano
Maybe you should look at getting some kind of round screen, to cover your engine intake. Cowboy coffee, you add coffee to boiling water, and wait for grounds to sink, and they get more saturated, then you pour the coffee off the top of pan. The trick is to pour without stirring up the grounds on bottom of pan.
Superb Project Management skills and electrical prowess Jordan. It has been a bit chilly in Turgutreis for our stay but doesn’t prevent walks around the markets. Wish they would get the construction done by the marina. Oh, and shout out to family for their support of Desiree and Isabella
20:30 oh my goodness what a beautiful little smile. Not surprising really Mom & Dad both have very friendly faces and smiles so she lucked out there! 😊
Nice work on getting all the jobs done on schedule. I am not a fan of putting an extra strainer on the outside of the boat because it’s moving the problem to the outside of the boat, meaning you have to dive to clean the strainer, plus they tend to restrict the water flow with barnacles and growth in the strainer. I will just increase the size of the onboard strainer.
Different time, different world. I remember the tough times you guys had in Bocos del Toro working on Atticus I. Im so stoked that through your hard work, you're literally in a place that can do alot of the nasty boat work for you, Cheers Buds!! ❤ 👨👨👧
Great video and courage with wiring. Sometimes you just have to trust wire colors to match. The safest way is to pull the old wire and install the new, but that just isn't always practical and could be very time consuming. On aircraft, older mechanical relays tended to be weak links. I would make a note to remember that relay and replace it when you have the opportunity. The clicking noise on diesel heaters is the fuel pump.
Jordan......I've been watching you guys for several years now and, this video is the first one where you ever mentioned quitting drinking.....Kudos. Are you a friend of Bill W's ? You have a wonderful family and.....life!
You guys make me feel homesick. My family and me stayed at Marina Premium where you were....though we stayed for a year, not a week!! Back to Ionion next month to get our boat back on the water and head across the Agean to Turgutreis...great town and I'm sure you have enjoyed your winter there.
Oh man apostille hell! We feel your pain, we had several documents for our Portuguese permanent residency application and yeah, it is a frustrating experience. On one hand you have the consulate and immigration timelines that do always align with the apostille timeline which is just nerve wracking! To make matters worse, many states, like Florida in particular, only have one official in one office that handles all requests. Fun times!

The plastic bag stuck in the engine intake could result in some serious engine damage. I know through hulls are best avoided, Perhaps a dual inlet one on each side of the keel, would significantly reduce the risk of both being blocked .
Re heater, is it an Eberspacher? I got one in my van. Good, but prone to throwing error codes randomly, which can be cleared by going in to its "secret" workshop menu. (check youtube vids). But sometimes it locks you out after several codes if there is problem that needs to be fixed. Good luck!
Great to See you guys hitting all your Goals and getting together with Family too. Great Videos as usual. BTW I have had 2of the same heaters... had to replace one as the original computer were not working correctly for more than a week at s time. The new one has worked Flawlessly for 3-4 months. One of the Factory Installation Instructions for these units is not to "Cut the Factory Wire Loom" as it can Change the OHM's which affects the Control Computer. They tell you to order the Factory Pigtail "Extension" I'd be greatly interested in how your performance tracks out over this heating season. You work very much like I do, in very Meticulous Detail my friend. It will be even more interesting for me as I watch you with your new heater install. Abounding Blessings to You, Gary Larson
love the show guys I'm envious! thanks for showing the extent of that cockpit locker Jorden that's a lot bigger than I thought! just as a side to your heater installation my automotive mechanic explained to me the ( or what he thought was the theory behind ) problem associated with putting electrical components too close to heat sources. The electonics really dont like it they perish and cook /fail much earlier plastics dissintergtrate etc. whats the warrenty on the unit ? stay warm all the best

Jordan, I stopped alcohol seven years ago - best decision I ever made. Cheers from an ex-patron!!

Look into "hull strainer intake" a must to install to avoid anything getting into any water intake under the hull, in French " creepiness "

I hope you put a sea strainer over the engine in take as well as the water maker after seeing the plastic in the intake.

Great vid this week. The boat looks great, Love, GRUBBY
Nice. Just subscribed. Like how you wove recovery into the story. Sober cruising seems an oxymoron, but how sweet it is!!!
Great Video!
Better check raw water pump and heat exchanger for debris from what ever you sucked up that engine intake.. You probably have a sea strainer?
