Fighter's History was the most competent fighter next to SF2 at the time of the lawsuit. We know enough now to use our BRAINS, though. Genre will have things that are similar, but it doesn't constitute creatively ripping off something. For instance, Mizoguchi is a delinquent student, that's why he was popular in Japan. People who don't know about that aspect of Japanese culture; however, will just see a Ryu clone. He also had rekka kicks, but most people thought that was "just Ryu's tatsu."
Yeah. Plus we got other factors like how its diversity differing from SF2 as well. Since they had a character from France, from Italy, and then with Dynamite, South Korea and Kenya years before SF would. Plus there's also the fact that Fighter's History also is unique with its weak point system for dizzies and added damage, meaning you gotta be pretty calculating.
Yeah but some characters like the French and Yungmie are clearly ripoffs of Guile and Chun-Li. The French guy even has the same animation on an air throw and Yungmie has the thick legs and the multiple fast kicks, only that her's turn to flames. I still like this game, I often play it even though it's not great, I guess it's my guilty pleassure. But , I cannot deny how similar it is to SF2, I mean the music even speeds up when getting close to the end of each round (which I hate even on SF2)
@protoman1214 Around the time the original Fighter's History arcade was released in 1993, Sega-AM2 also created a fighting game during the same year titled "Burning Rival", which has a character name Arnold, who uses a similar kick move called the Dragon Kick. Later, Sunsoft released Galaxy Fight, which Rolf in that game has another similar kick move, which is probably called the Rapid Crush.
That bull got the worse beating ever, LOL! Great combos & set-ups in this video! Does anyone know how to correctly do Ray's hidden Dynamite Special (the enhanced one)?
@MHMemeDoubleYourFun Data East also pointed out that Ryu and Ken could be considered a rip off of Karate Champ with the white and red gi being the only differentiation between first and 2nd player. So in a way Data East was first.
Your wrong. World Heros was made by SNK while Fighters History was made by Data East. These two games are not related. The Ryoko characters in both games was based on the real life female Judo champion/legend Ryoko Tani. Just look for her highlight reels here on youtube.
A character named Ryoko is in both games... and they're both based on a Japanese judo champion from the early 1990s. As for Ox... I thought he was a tribute to the bull you'd fight in Data East's Karate Champ. Don't recall him ever being associated with World Heroes in any way... JR
Can someone tell me how to do that kioko movement that throws the opponent into the air and then jumps and grabs him up I could never achieve it I would appreciate it, good video
Those combo's must have taken a hell of a lot of time to do. Pretty awesome. I like the track that playing during all the combos. Is that from the game as well? Where can I get it?
@MHMemeDoubleYourFun Yeah I know what you mean, it gives alot of original characters to choose from, but I would love Capcom and Data East put this sue thing behind them and make this game happen in 2D, as in Marvel vs Capcom Style, like the first one, art style and all.
From what I've seen in this video, in my opinion, for sheer devestating combo brutality that makes the opponent totally helpless, Zazie and Karnov are the best. Karnov is clearly a boss character as he just beats them across the screen to DEATH, and Zazie can get the fastest KOs without a doubt (I knew he was powerful but this is scary)! For cheap, simple, cheating (haha!) repetition, Matlok, Lee, Jean, and Yungmie. Interesting style and variety, I'd go with Mizogouchi, Ray, and Samchay.
@MHMemeDoubleYourFun You are so right! and I couldn't help but notice that CAPCOM's street fighter 4 ripped off some moves from the fighters history series. The two most glaring examples would be that Ken's shoryuken is now a twirling uppercut all the sudden. It even deals out damage the exact same way as Mizoguchi's. Abel's ultra combo is an exact recreation of Ryoko's super throws and slams.
11:21 - Oh, like Karnov even NEEDS to take advantage of a bug for a TOD combo. Never mind all the others with him in it are 100% damagers, even starting outside the corner. No wonder competitive FHD is Karnov vs. Karnov. Besides, what exactly IS the 'Gottsui Bug'?
Actually Dan is a parody of Ryo (moves), Robert (ponytail look and actitud) and Yur (stupid poses)..even the Dan;s dead Father use the same mask as Takuma when he is Mr Karate. U can see this in the parody game, pocket fighter
The only thing I liked about the arcade version of this game is Ryoko's "MOUNTAIN STORM!" or whatever it's called: she did it here (white-outfit Ryoko) with the upgraded Dynamite version when she set the bull on FIRE for a lot of damage. You could kill someone with 3-4 of those grabs! The coolest part is it's unexpected from someone who looks harmless like her, but I guess that's the idea lol.
I saw a flash game online once that had totally different characters, but based on SF4's character models, like editing how the characters worked. It was okay, but tells me that a character creation mode is doable, especially for 2.5D fighters like Street Fighter 4 and Mortal Kombat 9. Just let me chose my normals and specials, but for balance, don't let me change the amount of difficulty in the move commands.
@MHMemeDoubleYourFun are trying to imply that fighter history is not a direct copy of street fighter. Yes street fighter took some ideas from other games but at least they didn't copy ideas and looks from one major fighting game like fighter's history did.
why in the hell would they make a fighting game where you can do special moves over and over again for an infinite combo until you just win automatically...?
yeah Matlock's a charge character. i have this game on my Sega Saturn. it's a decent game, a collector's item now. but...it's not a computer player. everything is obviously in 2P mode. i know what you mean by that because I remember Guile on SF doing sonic booms when he SHOULDN'T, even on the original SF2 in the arcade! something is wierd and downright impossible about most of the stuff i see in this video! and he's a bull, not a cow. that's mean! he's been beat up, dont rub it in!
@MHMemeDoubleYourFun you know what, instead of calling this a "ripoff" I think it should be called a look alike. True it was popular in its time. But it was mainly because its similarities to sf2.
I am 9 years late but "reliance on combos" is really funny to me. Even SF2 had combos that put you into stun very early. If anything you had to rely on them there as well and that is the mother of all modern fighters.
Capcom were not trying to claim the genre but to protect their IP which FH clearly copied. Never have I seen such a blatant rip off of a single game, well perhaps Giana Sisters. If Capcom were trying to claim the genre then they would have sued the devs of Mortal Kombat, Clayfighter and the many others around at the time. It's remarkable how similar this is to SF2. However for me, it was the best alternative also as it played really well and the WPS was a nice touch. This needs more love imo.
Wasn't Ryo more of a rip-off of Ryu. And then Capcom made Dan as a parody of Ryo, and has been something of a joke character since, but look at the kick move in this game... it looks more like Dan's than Ryo's does
@WingmanVWXYZ really? Do you seriously think that fighter's history character are better? Let me answer that hell no they ain't better. Ken>Ray Ryu>Mizoguchi Bison>Kranov Sagat>Shay Guile>Jean. Y don't u try comparing FH to another SF copy WH? Fuuma=ray Hanzo=Mizoguchi Ryoko=Ryoko Dragon=Lee Brocken=Kranov. See FH=WH
i watched it again...and 0:25 had me like "WTF!!!". that was played out so smoothly it puts just about any pro wrestling match between two experts to shame. almost. haha. and the huge Roman grappler guy reminds me of Leonidas on steroids and with long hair. and once again some stuff makes NO SENSE like the action at 8:30

Ironically enough, Ryu ended up having almost the same Rekkas as Mizoguchi in the EX series, so there's that.
Looking forward to seeing another Fighter's History character in the new KOF games like what they did with Regulation A
@protoman1214

poor bull
That bull got the worse beating ever, LOL!
Great combos & set-ups in this video!
Does anyone know how to correctly do Ray's hidden Dynamite Special (the enhanced one)?
In Japan, most players choose Makoto Mizoguchi, followed by Samchay, Ryoko Kano and the protagonist, Ray McDougal.
Ray:
It's a bagel!
D-D-D-D-Dynamite!!!
@MHMemeDoubleYourFun Data East also pointed out that Ryu and Ken could be considered a rip off of Karate Champ with the white and red gi being the only differentiation between first and 2nd player. So in a way Data East was first.

Wow, Lee seems like hes top-tier.
A character named Ryoko is in both games... and they're both based on a Japanese judo champion from the early 1990s. As for Ox... I thought he was a tribute to the bull you'd fight in Data East's Karate Champ. Don't recall him ever being associated with World Heroes in any way...
JR
Considering this game's reputation as a shameless, soulless cash-in, I didn't expect it to look so... competent.
that bull is the secret last boss when u beat the game with no losses. the bull has some related with Ray
Can someone tell me how to do that kioko movement that throws the opponent into the air and then jumps and grabs him up I could never achieve it I would appreciate it, good video
Am I wrong to think after seeing this that Ryoko's training regimen consist of suplexing bulls?
Exactly what I was thinking! What's up with the bull? Or better yet, whose idea was it to put a bull into a fighting game?
@IcecoldSaiyan88 those came after the Fighters History games, you know that don't you?
Those combo's must have taken a hell of a lot of time to do. Pretty awesome.
I like the track that playing during all the combos. Is that from the game as well? Where can I get it?
karnov is so overpowered
@ManosHammer ya i just remembered that but ken was flames not blue wind. Also this came copied the shoryuken to began with.
I'd really love to play this game.
gotta beat the game without losing a round, on at least difficulty 4
doesn't Mizoguchi's flying kick attack look familiar??
haha maybe thats where capcom got the idea for Dan's move XD
jean should return he looks so cool and original
Impressive Combos :)
such a good video
@MHMemeDoubleYourFun
Yeah I know what you mean, it gives alot of original characters to choose from, but I would love Capcom and Data East put this sue thing behind them and make this game happen in 2D, as in Marvel vs Capcom Style, like the first one, art style and all.
@kayokango naw man ken been had the spinning flames around his shinryuken since the vs series.
@VideoQuestEx
Hold back for at least 3 seconds and then press forward twice and press a punch button.
Yeah: I see it now. Must have forgotten about my comment from like a year ago, LOL!
some one knows how is the ultimate move of lee? plz i need to know
No it was from SNK Ryo Suzaki was a parody of Ryu
Actually, World Heroes was made by ADK, which went out of business and now belongs to SNK Playmore.
Good to know: Thanks!
Do you know the Command Inputs for how to do the move?
I think the track is from when you fight the ox, although I've never played this game myself.
From what I've seen in this video, in my opinion, for sheer devestating combo brutality that makes the opponent totally helpless, Zazie and Karnov are the best. @dmayfield2 You can't be serious. Did you watch Lee's combos?
Wooah! Cool! Now that's what I call a combo fest!! This game brings back so many memories. Lol!
Never seen that bull before. Is it a hidden character or something?
I like Mizoguchi's Senpuukyaku of doom.
I have made a infinite combo with HK + Senpuukyaku, cancelling after two blows and then HK.
@MHMemeDoubleYourFun You are so right! and I couldn't help but notice that CAPCOM's street fighter 4 ripped off some moves from the fighters history series. Can you do an exhibition for the first game on the SNES? That's the only game in the series I own :'[
11:21 - Oh, like Karnov even NEEDS to take advantage of a bug for a TOD combo. Never mind all the others with him in it are 100% damagers, even starting outside the corner. No wonder competitive FHD is Karnov vs. Karnov.

where can i find an accurate "special moves list"?
Actually Dan is a parody of Ryo (moves), Robert (ponytail look and actitud) and Yur (stupid poses)..even the Dan;s dead Father use the same mask as Takuma when he is Mr Karate. U can see this in the parody game, pocket fighter
I never knew you could use a bull in this game.
SPINNING WANG
The only thing I liked about the arcade version of this game is Ryoko's "MOUNTAIN STORM!" or whatever it's called: she did it here (white-outfit Ryoko) with the upgraded Dynamite version when she set the bull on FIRE for a lot of damage. Yungmie
Likes: Kicking, infinite combos
Dislikes: Punching, pants

I did not know that...
this game is batshit crazy!!!!
Great !!
it's pretty solid. i mean, so many games at the time were SF2 knockoffs, so I don't understand all the fuss.
My favorite characters were Ryoko kano and Lee
damn right
I know. That bull is getting his ass kicked by everybody and he has no chance to defend himself!
02:57 FICAIGAUEU ,FICAIGAUEU ,FICAIGAUEU ..
Check from the second minute man
Ole, toro!
I was wondering that, but trying to read past that is beyond me. I think it's something that you have to delve into Japanese forums for.
the punk guy is almost exactly like guile, down to the arm-whip sound projectile to a rising kick moves (albeit a spinning version)
@dmayfield2 sf2 might not b but ssf2t is
I wanna see that bull shoot some fireballs! XD
@MHMemeDoubleYourFun are trying to imply that fighter history is not a direct copy of street fighter. Yes street fighter took some ideas from other games but at least they didn't copy ideas and looks from one major fighting game like fighter's history did.
@ZioIsPwnzor:
Thanks: I'll give it a try!
That, and... not many Capsule Computer fans seem to actually care about the other fightng games from said company.
why in the hell would they make a fighting game where you can do special moves over and over again for an infinite combo until you just win automatically...?
And Ryoko too ... o_O
I like Jean, he's like a mix between Guile and Vega! Matlock is jus like Guile! Put some of these guys on Mugen!! I love "Fighters History"
this game was far more balanced than the early Street fighter games and better than fatal fury they need to remake it
yeah Matlock's a charge character. i have this game on my Sega Saturn. it's a decent game, a collector's item now. but...it's not a computer player. everything is obviously in 2P mode. i know what you mean by that because I remember Guile on SF doing sonic booms when he SHOULDN'T, even on the original SF2 in the arcade! something is wierd and downright impossible about most of the stuff i see in this video! and he's a bull, not a cow. that's mean! he's been beat up, dont rub it in!

whats the deal with the bull.. lol
@MHMemeDoubleYourFun Sounds good :)
nothing like fucking up a bull
Infinite Karnov Works
????
3:20 = MOAR CHEATING
Good game, good video, nonsense comments
Karnov is a beast!! @_@;
i bet SNK made this
down forward low punch = hadou-ken, all the others are copy
One greatest games ever.tragedy wasn't a follow up.I hate later fighters like kof 96 onwards with their stupid complex systems and reliance on combos
Well Data East went broke.
I am 9 years late but "reliance on combos" is really funny to me. Even SF2 had combos that put you into stun very early. If anything you had to rely on them there as well and that is the mother of all modern fighters.
木人形はオックスが多いな
最多段というのは弱攻撃の回数が多いって意味じゃね?
Street Figthers vs. Fighters History
Jean = Vega + Kenshiro [hokuto no ken]
wtf is up with the bull
CURELTY TO ANIMALS!!! LOL. Poor bull.

Capcom would sue.

@IcecoldSaiyan88 i'll agree that Alpha 2 was good but SF2 not so much i mean i like the game but Fighters history was better all around
@dmayfield2 super street fighter and alpha 2 was more balanced than this.
*BaLloon*
