Thanks for educating us again Aaron! I'm quite surprised that you mentioned this is long lasting. It never lasted more than 2-3hrs on me. Same with the Mandarino di Amalfi
I tried neroli portofino 4 times now, the first it seemed like it disappeared very fast, then I went to the fragrance store again and sprayed my arm quite a bit, and I thought it disappeared fast and that the remaining smell was just the soap I was using. Then I tried a 3rd time at a Duty Free store in an Airport and went it lasted around 5 hours before it disappeared. Then I tried it again at the Duty Free again and it lasted very long this time. I guess I was nose blind the first two times, the 3rd time the employee barely did 2 sprays on my arm since the bottle was almost empty. The fourth time I got a full bottle and sprayed my arm 2 times and my neck 1 times. This time The fragrance lasted a good 8 hours, but it became a skin scent on my arm pretty fast, but I could get whiffs of it from my neck for very long. I will buy a 10 ml bottle to test it properly and if I like I will get the full size.
I've just got narciso Rodriguez bleu noir edp for him, you have to use it in abundance BUT when you do it delivers the desired effect beautifully, for the price its quite lovely, layer it with a couple of sprays of ormonde man by ormonde jayne and BANG literally beautiful. Awesome summer scent.xx
I love Narciso-Rodriguez Bleu Noir For Him EDP. The dry down smell on my skin is amazingly crazy, it's so sexy, very addictive. Personally i would describe it in the same DNA with AQUA DI GIO EDT/EDP & ISSEY MIYAKE L'EAU D'ISSEY POUR HOMME. This Narciso-Rodriguez Bleu Noir EDP is quickly becoming my signature scents.
Hard Candy and High Voltage are fantastic! I'm proud to own them, and your unicorns hooked me up! Hands down, you're my favorite fragrance creator. Top tier. Unicorns for life
Neroli Portofino triggers old, old scent memories for me. It smells like a powdered "orange blossom" laundry detergent my mom used to buy when I was a kid. Great stuff.
I discovered you from seeing your appearances on Frag-Mental, and I'm delighted to find that you have your own channel. You, good sir, are bloody brilliant, and clearly a MASTER of your craft. Thank you for making these wonderful videos.
This is one of my favourite fragrances by TF, but like Aaron, my skin also eats up weaker fragrances. This one doesn’t last on me at all but the smell is top class. Amalfi radiates off of my skin while this one sits very close to my skin. As always, amazing review! 💯
A beautifully detailed explanation... i love it, someone with a true passion, instant fan! I can pick out a Tom Ford fragrance as a gift. It will be Neroli Portofino. Thanks for the awesome review Aaron👌
"This will be long-lasting." Neroli Portofino lasts about as long as I do. Even the Forte version is out the door in 4. Gorgeous scent, but it simply doesn't stay. Maybe it's just my skin, though.
I’d like to nominate Invasion Barbare by MDCI for review. I’m currently burning through my sample with a full bottle on the way. I am absolutely smitten with it. Soft, complex, masculine, modern - Just gorgeous. I’m smelling myself constantly like a raving narcissist. I love your reviews so I would love to hear your breakdown.
Good review there Aaron, it’s interesting to know from your perspective that you get good longevity. I sampled this in 2014 and yes it is an awesome scent for the summer, but I didn’t get the longevity. Maybe it’s improved and I’ll give another try. There is also Neroli Portofino Forte
I don't think he tested the longevity during the review, just gave us his opinion on how long lasting it should be based on smell, that's definitely far away from a long lasting fragrance.
I was so happy when you mentioned that it smells very similar to Mandarino di Amalfi, because that's what I thought when I smelled it for the first time. I was surprised about longetivity tho. Neroli Portofino has neither Longetivity nor Projection on me. 1-2 hours was maximum I could get. Doesn't work well with my skin chemistry, I guess. Mandarino di amalfi lasts on me Longer so that quite surprised me. Great review! Thank you!
Neroli Portofino is one of the few fragrances that actually smell like how it is described in the sense that you feel like you're on a coastal town in Italy...
Thanks Aaron! I always look forward to your reviews. You animate the perfumer science and your descriptions communicate the scent to the point I can smell the product without actually smelling it! You’re an amazing communicator. Keep it up!!
I'm a little confused that you say it should have long longevity, on my skin it projects like 30 min and last max 2h, on cloths 3-4h maximum (only if I bath them with like 10+ sprays), it's the only downside of that fragrance, it's the reason I can only wear it on the morning when I'm at the beach (I'll go into water no matter what I wear, so at least I don't waste it, but will not buy another bottle). Did you tried to see how long it lasts? I mean, if I didn't knew better, this sounds like Tom Ford payed you to say "long lasting", they have to create an "intense" version because everyone complained about how weak this performs, and the intense version it's way overpriced.
I love this fragrance and the Mandarino DI Amalfi he mentions. I alternate them. They are both equal as far as amazing fragrance goes in my book but I do find that they have a low projection after about 45 minutes. But its perfect to hot summer days and when you are around a lot of people.
Nice review aaron, i am a guy and really love this perfume. It is so classy, definitely unisex but leans little bit feminine. Idk why so many people said its only last around 1 hour in fragrantic*a. I hope they didnt get any fakes because there are so many fake tom fords in the market. And maybe for additional info for readers, we must compare a perfume with same atomizer, i mean my aventus atomizer is 3x much more spray than neroli portofino. So my point is maybe because tom ford’s spray is not as loud as any other brands, then it will affect the volume of the perfume that sprayed out. This is truly HEAVEN in a bottle.. I hope you guys like it 😀🙏🏻
@@danielclv97 yess.. i have it. I spray 5 times. The sprayer doesnt spray loud of perfume like i said in the previous comment, like a 2ml vial sprayer. Two in the neck (left & right), two in shoulders, and middle chest. It projects 2-3 hours, and last around 6 hours (its not vanish but its still there). And i will still be able to sniff in my tshirt after 6 hours. I dont know how many people complaining about this.. i bought it on harrods UK website for 275$ for 100ml btw.. send it directly to my home in indonesia. Took 2 months long to received it, this is really top 3 blind by of my list. Where did u bought it btw? Can you tell me stories with it?
Thank you very much for the material information. It's soo good to know what you spray on youre body. I like Neroli Portofino a lot. Great summerscent. Is it possible you do a special about perfume ingredients and more background information about the manufacturing of fragrances. And allergies and toxics and other IFRA related information. Greetings!
I have a sample of it. Tried it. I think it comes across as a very refined and well put together parfume... but weird memories. It smells so clean, so immensely clean. And it reminds me of a cleaning crew. I don't recall exactly where, but I immediately picture the cleaning lady and rubber hand shoes and gear. I just cannot remember when and where. I blame it on the neroli and found a cheaper, less intense perfume to get used to neroli.
awesome review. I am from USA and I just bought your sampler set Aaron from your website and it should be arriving next week :-) I am really looking forward to trying all of your fragrances :-)
I’d love to hear your take on Nishane Ege. I’m looking for an aquatic for summer/warm weather wear. Hopefully something a little unique. Appreciate any recommendations. Thanks!!
I have a sample of this and I love it it is very similar to Mandarino Di amalfi but I think that one is more orange like. Apparently Neroli Portofino is similar to 4711 .
I just get samples of it I think it is overpriced the pricing seems too high 4711 is way cheaper at just £11 or something like that. I like the other Tom Ford fragrance but in my view it isn’t as nice but not bad at all.
Thank you Aaron and video crew. Today I really enjoyed the molecule spellings top right of video. I have a clone of this, "AH Neroli canvas" and the correct spellings helped me understand the Ambrettolide in the base? and I hadn't been able to find Ethylene brassylate because I was spelling it wrong :) I also may get some hedione to give this some lift since my clone lays so heavy. I am seeing 2 hediones? Differences? hedione and hedione FC?
If you want to have a fragrance to wear outside of work, that's light but beautiful and feels almost therapeutic, you MUST try Tom Ford's Fleur de Portofino (not the Acqua, as it doesn't have as good of musks).
I love this fellow’s reviews and they are very informative and interesting. I think he is brilliant in chemistry and perfumery unless he is just making things up as he goes along. I don’t know him but I would say he knows his stuff. 😆 LOL. He should be working with a big fragrance house but they probably demand a PHD degree.
Way over priced. Standard neroli fragrance, (IMO). Longer lasting, intense? It's one of the worst performing citrus fragrances on the market. More like a 5/10. You have to spend almost double for the Forte edition to get any kind of performance. For this kind of price, go for Xerjoff Nio. It's better than NPF in every possible way.
Aaron please, try any of Perris Montecarlo. Cedro di diamante, lavander romaine.... I'm interesed on know your opinion, they claim to be very natural....
Thank you so much Aaron. Most of the people reviewed this fragrance also said that. It does not last long. That's why I was a bit in question with myself if I should buy it or not. But great reviews. Thank you again .
Yeah this scent profile is similar to 4711 that is gone in 30 mins to an hour so it's no surprise that it doesn't last very long. None the less it's a perfect beach scent so I'm taking it with me on my travels today. Tom Has a forte version of it that has added performance.
Hi Aaron. A quick question do you know of a site where you check to see if the fragrance that you've purchased is safe? I have a vast collection and have a few middle Eastern fragrances which I would like to know if they are safe as you have mentioned in previous videos about how certain ingredients are banned in the UK, but not in other parts of the world . By the way I love your content , brilliant stuff x

One of the best smelling fragrances of all time in my opinion but the projection and longevity is absolutely poor! 🤦♂️ Are there any alternatives that smell similar but last 8hrs plus?
This video is a prime example of why you should actually take 12 hours to test the longevity of the cologne in question rather then just guessing based on smell alone. Anyone that is familiar with this genre of scent in the same family as 4711 knows it doesn't last long. Epic fail that could be prevented by testing.
Same - Was very underwhelmed when I sampled it….. I was like meh When you can produce Tobacco Vanille, Ombré Leather and Tobacco Oud, this Neroli certainly disappoints 😔
Hi Aaron. I have one request for you. Can you review Sean John 3 A.M? It's really popular in frag community, and it's really beautiful scent, but longevity is almost non-existant, so it would be wonderful to hear your expert opinion why that happens...thank you and have a good one :)
This used to be one of my most beloved and cherished scents back in the day. Last week I tried it out in the store on my skin and I was severely disappointed. This used to be just a sunny and happy scent that turns gorgeous creamy from the musks. This time however it almost turned cat pee on my skin and the great dry down was compromised ´.
This is a very good review as always. He is unique in dissecting any scent that is given to him. The only problem? Aaron conveniently overlooks the fact that this is a shamelessly overpriced blatant clone of 4711. Because Tom Ford can do no wrong.
The problem with Neroli fragrances is that they all smell similar. Having multiple Neroli fragrances is redundant. Neroli Portofino is nice but terrible longevity.
This - to me - smells almost exactly like 4711 which is just a fraction of the price and has been around for about 200 years...it's basically a dupe, sold at a much higher price point, there's nothing original about it and personally I think it's Tom Ford's low point because it's just such a flagrant copy
I’m Philippino, Oriental doesn’t offend me in the slightest. Why should it. Orient means of the East. If someone is telling you that Oriental is offensive, they are properly some white college elite saying it is. Keep using it. It’s the most accurate way to say where you think the notes are from.
Hi there from Paris, Sorry but I don’t get why so many people here do praise this review, as this review is very misleading about TF Neroli longevity… This is a fact that is almost of a public notoriety! So much that we can really question the reasons why this professionnal reviewer states the contrary. And I dont really trust the « on my skin » typical argument (unless you are an alien with a skin from planet Jupiter^^). Cheers !
Wouldn't you be interested in doing videos explaining perfumery language and stuff like that other than reviews. I mean if you've got the time to do so obviously

I’m Philippino, Oriental doesn’t offend me in the slightest. Why should it. Orient means of the East. If someone is telling you that Oriental is offensive, they are properly some white college elite saying it is. Keep using it. It’s the most accurate way to say where you think the notes are from.
Hi there from Paris,
Sorry but I don’t get why so many people here do praise this review, as this review is very misleading about TF Neroli longevity… This is a fact that is almost of a public notoriety! So much that we can really question the reasons why this professionnal reviewer states the contrary. And I dont really trust the « on my skin » typical argument (unless you are an alien with a skin from planet Jupiter^^). Cheers !
It's actually a clone of "4711 Kölnisch Wasser", which was created in 1792 in cologne. That's where the term "Eau de cologne" comes from.
Inspired by 4711
Smells like Holiday at the beach man….
Wouldn't you be interested in doing videos explaining perfumery language and stuff like that other than reviews. I mean if you've got the time to do so obviously
👍👍👍👍
Bro got surgical with it
I tested many times, not my cup of tea 🤷
Bro your nose is expensive and accurate.
Tom Ford’s WORST scent , it’s an extremely overpriced BABY COLOGNE.
This is really weak to me, lasts about 20 mins and absolutely does not justify the price. Just a total cash grab by TF.
Wth is this explanation!! I just need to know if the perfume is nice or not and what best occasion to wear it 😅 I guess I am sticking to Jeremy
The scent reminds me of toilet cleaner.
To me is feminine 😅
I really wanted to love Neroli Portofino, but it just smells like toilet cleaner to me. Such a shame as it's clearly a classic.
