Rek, hear me out, if you would use just as much time to make auto crafters for making melon blocks as you take to make storage, I think your runs will be a lot quicker to get the melon farm completely running, plus you would save about 89% storage space

Some ideas from a redstoner: 1) Storage, send everything to the sides and use a dropper into powdered snow sending everything to the bottom, here you can collect and send them into autocrafters, then send those into shulkerbox loaders. This could be faster than placing all those chests, you be the judge. 2) Iron Farm, what you built is highly inefficient lol sorry, the biggest thing is "time to kill" I'd guess each node you built is running around 60% efficiency. Check of "Niko is Lost" for better mechanics, I'm sure you can figure something out that's still fairly simple to build but closer to 80-90% efficiency. 3) Speed, get both wither stars at the same time, it's a waste of travel time to go get one, come back, go get another, come back. Just get the 6 heads and the two stars all at once. 4) I'm not sure how efficient your wood farm is, it's nice and simple and easy to use, but have you looked into bamboo auto crafted into logs? would be more passive and still not as build time intrusive as a lot of other wood farms can get to get decent rates. 5) I noticed you made a chunk loader for the iron, did you do any for the melon farms? they only cover a 3x3 chunk area. ANYWAYS I feel invested in this too xD I'm pumped for you! Excited for the day you hit this!!!
Nice suggestions, I will say a lot of this has already been considered and isn't being done for certain reasons, lemme see if I can list them all out 1. I think the current storage solution is the best for a quick and cheap setup. In order to do your idea, rek would have to make dropper clocks to dispense items from every 4 hopper minecarts from the flying machines, which is a little more annoying to make especially for all 8 layers he's building. And then making an array of autocrafters AND shulker loaders that can handle the near 1 million items per hour this farm will be making once built 8 layers tall would be really expensive and complicated. He would also need to make a shulker farm and constantly refill the supply of empty shulkers for the loaders. And if any items that *aren't* melons get into the autocrafting array, it will clog up the system. 2. I've shown him a few iron farms that are definitely more efficient, but take much longer to build. The Ian farms are certainly inefficient, but they are just SO easy and inexpensive to build that he is able to build 6 of them in no time. 3. agreed 4. Bamboo has been considered, but it is just so much easier to use this wood farm. It is super easy to get tons of logs from it, even with it not being a passive source. A bamboo farm requires a lot of space and a flyingmachine and is just so much more complicated, and the rates for that are honestly just not worth it. 5. Keeping the melon farm from breaking is one of the biggest concerns absolutely, and that is why the new farm he is making is half the length of the old farm. He is playing on 32 render distance, so he will absolutely keep it all loaded when he is near it, and therefore won't need chunkloaders. He also knows to turn off the farm before leaving to another dimension or closing the world, which helps a lot.

But you do have a point, simplicity and speed could out weigh complexity and efficiency. Perhaps the only thing I can think of and I’m sure Rek already has something like this, but to have checkpoints so he knows by such and such day all the prep and resources need to be gathered, then do the 8 days to build each layer. Best of luck helping him out Squilly :) he’s grinded so much I want him to hit it!

I think you should plan it out, and write it as tasks, and every task completed you tick it, of course, you have to calculate each time is allowed for said task, to give the rest of the time for the melons to get farmed. Like my plan is to see how much time it takes you to get 10 mil melons in the best run you could get, then from there calculate the rest of the time for the time for the rest of the tasks

Man you’re so much more enjoyable to watch on this channel. Your videos on rekrap 2 melt my brain, it’s too fast paced for me. The lack of editing and live commentary without overreacting create cozy and chill atmosphere, it’s really refreshing to see compared to other Minecraft content nowadays

There were some nice strategic developments in this one, I feel like you might benefit from taking a bit of a break from attempts to practice executing the new stuff, then go into it again when you feel refreshed and ready. I love this series so much. It doesn’t matter that you’re not technically hitting the goal because A I view it the same way I view speed running, it’s less about hitting a specific goal and more about self improvement and getting a better score every time. B at the rate you’re going you’ll hit it eventually so it seems like it’s more about enjoying the ride. All of this to say, I was sad to hear you weren’t enjoying the challenge in the beginning of the video so don’t force yourself to make these videos if they’re getting too exhausting. Take break and we’ll be here to watch sm when ur ready to come back to the challenge

Rek, I genuinely think you're the single best minecraft player there is. You're amazing at literally everything, except for maybe one specific thing... giving up. But aside from that? speedrunning, building, redstone, mining, pvp, parkour, literally every facet of minecraft.

Even tho we are losing pearl hangs, the new update will let you activate stasis chambers whenever and you don't need chunk loaders, which could save up to days of travel time
Hello Rekrap. Absolutely love the video and the entire melon challenge as a whole. I have one suggestion that could help you better estimate your overall pace. play out a world until you get 10,000,000 melons whether or not it takes you 100 days. Take time stamps on a notepad of when you complete certain tasks, as well as list your tasks into sections of progress so you can reference them later. If I had to make a guess, I think this run could be finished in 100-120 days for sure. With your analysis of time loss and places where you can improve/optimize, It wouldn't be as demotivating if you know where you need to save time already. You got this !
i hope this works as words of encouragement because i genuinely tune into these vids every time i see them posted. you might already do this but you can practice doing different tasks at a faster pace by practicing similarly to speedrun practices (where you press the button and you 0 the dragon lol).
This is amazing, but you gotta remember to take breaks! Farm melons because its something you want to do, not something you have to do for the content. That said, the dedication is insane! Amazing job!!
After the last videos I spent like 5 hours reading the source code for melon growing and testing configurations, glad to see you have an expert with you for guidance. I think the biggest thing limiting you right now is the time to harvest, not time to grow; the faster you can harvest a melon the faster the plant can grow another one. It could be worth it to build the platforms to be wide instead of long if building the flying machines is fast enough. Question: why are you building the first platform so high in the air? Seems like you could save a bunch of time gathering dirt and building the platform if you just find a flat plain to build it on. I just built the same wither skeleton farm and it works great, but it seems like a LOT of time just for two beacons (plus you need all that iron). Could you just brew some swiftness potions instead? They're cheap as hell and you're already growing sugar cane and getting nether wart. You'd have to settle for speed 1 so you don't have to down potions every 90 seconds, but I think it would save time, especially with an auto-brewer.
Finally a minecraft content creator that is actually good at the game. im so tired of seeing tik tok vids of bad players trying stuff like this. Big kudos to you, keep it up
Rek. New idea for a melon farm. Haven’t made it yet but it should work. Like a tree farm but instead of saplings it’s melons and they grow where the tnt falls. But on the edge so it only blows up that one block. As you mine up some gravel and sand. You bring a beacon and a melon farm with you.

Man you’re so much more enjoyable to watch on this channel. Your videos on rekrap 2 melt my brain, it’s too fast paced for me. The lack of editing and live commentary without overreacting create cozy and chill atmosphere, it’s really refreshing to see compared to other Minecraft content nowadays
It's just so goofy that I sit down for half an hour to watch a guy farm melons in a video game and I love it. It's just such a great way to not think about anything.

I love this series so much. It doesn’t matter that you’re not technically hitting the goal because A I view it the same way I view speed running, it’s less about hitting a specific goal and more about self improvement and getting a better score every time. B at the rate you’re going you’ll hit it eventually so it seems like it’s more about enjoying the ride.
All of this to say, I was sad to hear you weren’t enjoying the challenge in the beginning of the video so don’t force yourself to make these videos if they’re getting too exhausting. Take break and we’ll be here to watch sm when ur ready to come back to the challenge

Rek, I genuinely think you're the single best minecraft player there is. You're amazing at literally everything, except for maybe one specific thing... giving up. But aside from that? speedrunning, building, redstone, mining, pvp, parkour, literally every facet of minecraft.

Even tho we are losing pearl hangs, the new update will let you activate stasis chambers whenever and you don't need chunk loaders, which could save up to days of travel time
Hello Rekrap. Absolutely love the video and the entire melon challenge as a whole. I have one suggestion that could help you better estimate your overall pace. play out a world until you get 10,000,000 melons whether or not it takes you 100 days. Take time stamps on a notepad of when you complete certain tasks, as well as list your tasks into sections of progress so you can reference them later. If I had to make a guess, I think this run could be finished in 100-120 days for sure. With your analysis of time loss and places where you can improve/optimize, It wouldn't be as demotivating if you know where you need to save time already.

i hope this works as words of encouragement because i genuinely tune into these vids every time i see them posted. you might already do this but you can practice doing different tasks at a faster pace by practicing similarly to speedrun practices (where you press the button and you 0 the dragon lol).
This is amazing, but you gotta remember to take breaks! Farm melons because its something you want to do, not something you have to do for the content. That said, the dedication is insane! Amazing job!!

After the last videos I spent like 5 hours reading the source code for melon growing and testing configurations, glad to see you have an expert with you for guidance. I think the biggest thing limiting you right now is the time to harvest, not time to grow; the faster you can harvest a melon the faster the plant can grow another one. It could be worth it to build the platforms to be wide instead of long if building the flying machines is fast enough.
Question: why are you building the first platform so high in the air? Seems like you could save a bunch of time gathering dirt and building the platform if you just find a flat plain to build it on.
I just built the same wither skeleton farm and it works great, but it seems like a LOT of time just for two beacons (plus you need all that iron). Could you just brew some swiftness potions instead? They're cheap as hell and you're already growing sugar cane and getting nether wart. You'd have to settle for speed 1 so you don't have to down potions every 90 seconds, but I think it would save time, especially with an auto-brewer.
Finally a minecraft content creator that is actually good at the game. im so tired of seeing tik tok vids of bad players trying stuff like this. Big kudos to you, keep it up

Rek. New idea for a melon farm. Haven’t made it yet but it should work. Like a tree farm but instead of saplings it’s melons and they grow where the tnt falls. But on the edge so it only blows up that one block. As you mine up some gravel and sand. You bring a beacon and a melon farm with you.
