“And in the meantime, take care of yourself.” Meanwhile, she is NOT taking care of herself… on the bathroom floor, in a hidden wall, on an iv food drip…
I think that’s fully intended… it’s just about every single individual in the social media and influencer sphere, spouting a variety of platitudes about ‘taking care of yourself’ ‘live well’ and ‘mentally health is important’… while simultaneously cracking at the seams indebted, lonely, starving themselves physically and emotionally to stay relevant, popular, increase their following and relevance.
I took my parents to see the first Tobey Maguire Spider-Man and Baise-Moi. In retrospect, the second of those two films might not have been such a good idea!
1:05 sad how as elisabeth sparkle she already filled up the entire hallway with posters as herself and now she's restarting again; truly shows how hollywood is
Agreed, the whole film I feel so sad for Elizabeth Like she still had fame and money and could have been fine but the industry has just broken her self esteem so much that she just chases after affection from the very people who kicked her to the curb once she was no longer useful in their eyes. It’s so sad but at the same time you can kind of understand why she’s doing it, like to her it’s so ingrained into her psyche that this is what she’s supposed to want and she does still enjoy performing. I wish she went on the date with Fred, maybe things could have gone better Sorry for rambling just really love this movie and have many thoughts :3
Literally going down the same path. No wonder she is still not happy. Another message in the film: if you get a chance, don't make the same mistake twice.
@@JustthePhoneGuyYT, agreed with everything you said. Except for Fred. No man in the world could help Elisabeth, for she will always love her looks more than anyone else. And her image--even though it consumes her. And expecting a man to fill that void--well, that's another trap-with-trappings altogether...😈
It's interesting to see the contrast between this show and the original. Sparkle Your Life started off so positive and upbeat back when Elizabeth still had a shred of confidence in her talent, but as Sue she basically sold herself for the sex factor and the show becomes so hollow and vapid in the process, losing the genuineness it once had.
Isn’t it the same whereby ppl today get a beauty cam, and go to OF and call it a career, boasting they are making more money than ever compared to boring Jurassic jobs 😹
The intensity of the movie was amazing. The final scene in particular was shocking. This movie is in my top 10 favorite movies of all time. The overwhelming talent of the director and the two actors is phenomenal.
The fact that she almost forgets to say "Take care of yourself" to the viewers, shows that it's not even about helping them get healthy anymore, it's ALL about Sue.
Well, that was a nice surprise!! A thriller movie that had something to give. Very well made & well-acted. The story is good & the camera work is pretty good too. Some scenes ( the zoomed-in ones ) are great & make you go in the deep of the story. This weekend, I just finished the ASH vs EVIL DEAD series, the 3 seasons and the end of this movie made me laugh. Thumbs up from me.
A nice detail in the movie was how when the crew told her to see Harvey, they were all pissed with her because they thought she messed up something. They don't care whether she gets good news or bad Or they already know it's good news but are pissed that they lost their job and that she obviously won't care about them either. She loses either way. While Elisabeth was wished a happy birthday by everyone and people were sad to see her go (despite the shitty present by Harvey, an old cook book in French that he found somewhere, not the best meal for a slim fitness expert), the crew liked her.
Universal Studios got rid of this movie in the middle of its production. I don't expect any journalists to get an interview of executives who made the decision.
Gah I just adore this movie, literally everything is great. Every beat, every visual, very reference to other horror films just perfect. Absolutely my current fave horror film Ngl the ending is so great and feels so necessary to complete its statement. Also just wow on that statement, I have not seen something more strong in its message and the delivery of said message. Some would say it’s on the nose but honestly I feel like we need to have it that obvious cause idk if Hollywood would be able to see it at this stage if it wasn’t. Just at the baby steps towards progress with the treatment of women and beauty standards atm. (Also just beauty standards in general those things are entirely unrealistic but it is significantly more pushed on women which sucks big time.) Anyways uhm I’ve rambled enough, absolutely adore this one. I’ve watched it four times already and will be watching it many more cause the body horror is so good :3
All the bathrooms: Olivia Newton John's "Physical" music video. And Sue's Pump it up, TOTALLY like you said, Erik Prydz' Call On Me music video. And Dennis Quaid eating at the restaurant is like Lady Gaga and Beyonce's "Telephone" when they poison Tyrone an every person ar the diner. This movie made me think a lot about Jonas Åkerlund, amazing director
Very understandable, personally I don’t think it’s very scary more so will make you a bit squeamish if you don’t like needles and medical equipment and blood/body morphing But I’m also someone who’s somewhat desensitised to the stuff in the film so ultimately you know your own limits ^^ I hope hounds like it if you end up watching it my dude :D

the whole movie is like a love letter to horror cinema. there’s aspects of carrie, frankinstien, and the blob
It's full of homages to Kubrick
Let’s just say, director is very talented. Lots and lots of homages.
The bathroom she walks into at the beginning of the movie is very Overlook ballroom bathroom

An instant cult classic! The last 20 minutes are brilliantly insane and gory. The two hours 20 minutes flies by. Wow.

This scene also counts as body horror and I will die on this hill
Why wouldn’t it?
Agree, i also fear healthy slim women.
@@thetimkazakh.624 It's not the body shape, it's the grotesque way they're zoomed in on/emphasize specific parts of the body.
It shows the brilliance of this film, they are all attractive women dancing in seductive manners, and I just felt repulsed, almost harassed.
The whole entire film is classified as body horror hon
