With the change from Les Absolus d'Orient to the Absolus Allegoria, Santal Royal, once the iconic poster child of the collection and Thierry Wasser's darling, has now been reworked. Let's talk about the differences.
I'm late for a comment but I really enjoyed the comparison. I will have to test the new version, this is intriguing. Could the differences be explained by bottle aging ?
not at all, you're still early. Well, i did think about this, but then again not even when my bottle was new did i get these nuances that much. But you can never tell, our noses are weird
The oud note reminds me a bit of Oud Palao, and to me there is a cookie/praline note along with rose which reminds me of 500 Years. I'm quite impressed with my samples of this and Rose Amira.
I have kept meaning to ask, but have you seen that Guerlain have overhauled the packaging on all of their Eau de Colognes. I noticed at the end of the summer when I was restocking a couple of them. The boxes and labels are completely different now. They've removed the unique crests from each of them, and replaced them all with a generic label, but I noticed there is a highlighted emphasis of the original perfumer on the packaging. It made me wonder of Delphine is going to be releasing a cologne of her own sometime soon.
I had no idea because I have no Guerlain boutique near me to check on this kind of news. This is awful, i was really hoping they would leave that collection alone, but alas. I hope her cologne smells like l’instinct 😅
I wanna test this one I own the santal royal the old one I thing and smells amazing the sandalwood make it wonderful I don’t know if I like the other one owning scents like : oud palao , 500 years , oud ispahan, oud rosewood , santal noir .
Didn’t it always have oud? The oud in the previous formula was mildly barnyardy for the first 4 hours then later the sandalwood came around later in the formula.

looking forward to see you compare cuir intense, because i think the new one is even better
I will search for a sample, old cuir intense is a bit too much for me, curious about the new one

I think it’s great albeit a little weaker than the original

I’m sure it did, at least as a note if not an ingredient.
