Being in highschool throughout the '90s, this was really the first band to blatantly call out the establishment, government, police, etc in the way they did. They opened the eyes of an entire generation.
Yeah, you should look into music from the 60s abs 70s... Country Joe McDonald "The Fish Cheer/I Feel Like I'm Fixing To Die." Best known version is from Woodstock in 1969 Also, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young "Ohio," released in summer 1970, after the Kent State massacre. Artists calling out the establishment, in their songs, has been going on since the 60s. That's as far back as I know. It might go back even further.
@@Dano_in_Texas I wouldn't be surprised if the names you mentioned inspired RATM. Anti establishment ethos mostly died out by the 80s and Rage brought it back to rock n roll in the 90s and did it in an innovative way.
Maybe the first one you knew of, but far, far from the first. As others have mentioned there was a ton of bands that did the same in the 60's and 70's, not to mention this entire genre called punk. Tons of metal bands in the 80's and 90's too.
Rage opened my eyes in high school in 93 to what the world really is and how we weren't being taught the truth in school. Thier music is more relevant today
Growing up in the 90s as a kid this was always considered rock music and played on the rock stations. The fans were rock fans, you can tell by the crowd, obviously Zack raps. I consider his rock based on the instruments. Rage is a political group, you need to listen to the words to their songs. Listen to Down Rodeo, as in Rodeo Drive in LA, with the lyrics. Also do your homework on the group it will help understand them better and appreciate them for who they are.
This man did not just say it reminds him of Kid Rock? Please never listen to rage again you are clearly not about them. Didn't even begin to try and understand the message of the song.
In my teens in 90's I loved rap, like 2pac, wu-tang clan. But rage was the first CD I bought. A bit earlier, I was gifted a green day - dookie as a cassette. What I'm trying to say, it all works together. Rage has thoughtful rap (public enemy), punk (against establishment and oppression), rock and funk sounds.
They missed the whole message. “The potential of make cool songs” let’s pray they listen and analyze the message next time. Great song Rage against the machine. , killed it like always.
Definitely dive into the lyrics. They do have a message. You may not like the message, but they had the balls to get up there and spit some bars about it.
The message in the music was always something that was needed to be heard, same with all the punk rock songs, the problem I have with rage is they went from anti-establishment to anti-establishment in favor of the left. They’ve def chosen a side and made it obvious the last decade they only dislike one side.
@@justinwilder3514 What are you talking about? Tom Morello has the communist hammer and sickle on his guitar and he has since 92. They've always been left.
I used to do bodybuilding, and i can tell you right now this is this BEST music to train to, every gym play generic dance crap, trust me, wanna power up your work out? Stick some rage against the machine on
NU Metal, like limp biscuit, Slipknot. Rage against The Machine Wake Up. (was the outro music to the first matrix) th-cam.com/video/4lzqUe1Qfec/w-d-xo.html Zack RATM vocals. Zack De La Rocha, KRS-One & The Last Emperor - C.I.A. (Criminals In Action) th-cam.com/video/QXIqkZJzzIw/w-d-xo.html
You are right that RATM doesn't fit in a single category. They are on another level. Another person who doesn't is an up and comer Ren. He's been popping off lately. I highly recommend "Hi Ren" for another artist who doesn't fit in a single genre/category
Absolutely 💯 Perfect 🎶 Music for this time of Life.. Great Working Out Music," Que Vive Zack" Not an accident their music is in the Matrix 1. Stay Woke!😮
Saw them in 93 live in Chicago awesome show anti government hence their name but then they told us if we didn’t get the jab couldn’t come to there show and lost all respect for them
When you say "these guys sound like X rock band", just reverse that and say "X rock band sounds like these guys". These guys laid the foundation. Thanks
You need to listen to Know Your Enemy. You should always have the lyrics pulled up for yourselves when listening to Rage. The words are as important as the music
Also, if you want to join TWA (The Warning Army), then do some reactions to The Warning. Three sisters from Mexico who rock! They have an extremely loyal fan base of 500k followers on TH-cam. It is definitely in your best interest to check out their music. You have been Warned!
Definitely check out the lyrics with RATM. There is always a message in their music that’s still relevant 30 years after they arrived on the music scene.
Brand name commercial types will never really get this music. I would say that Zach is closer to EZ than anything New York. Also, what could be more hip hop than old school scratching ... except Tom does it with a guitar?
Kid Rock? That dude wishes he could be even half of what RATM is.😂
It unforgivable really. It makes me know that they have no taste or ability to tell if something is authentically great or manufactured BS.
get an audio splitter and two sets of headphones, criminal to listen to music through 1 ear
Ditto. You need the music in both ears for full effect 👍
They just need to get another set of AirPods since they could then do audio sharing and play them on both perfectly synced.
Agree.. this hurts to watch knowing they missed too much amazing audio details from the song
Totally noticed Phil was missing Tom's wa-wa chica wa-wa!😂
FACT. 💯 🔥
"They don't have to burn the books they just remove them"... Florida, DeSantis, we're looking at you

Public Enemy did too. First rock band thoigh

You just gave Kid Rock the greatest compliment he could have ever received, comparing Zach to him.
🤭🤫 малыши не в курсе🤣👍
She referred to Blink 182 and Sum 41 as punk. Lol 😂
Based on the politics they are no where near kid rock, that’s an actual insult yo the cause.
He said it reminded him of Kid Rock😂
What a joke
My manz just referenced Kid Rock to a RATM song. Damn sacrilege...
I saw Rage in 1997 they oddly came to a tiny farm town in my state and had a free concert at the fairgrounds. Was epic , love tiger music
The smile that hit your face when he started rapping speaks volumes .imagine the first time we heard it 20 Some odd years ago. It was groundbreaking.

Dude, good call on the public enemy reference. There's definitely that slight infusion similar to what PE has always done amazingly well
They even toured together as the supergroup Prophets of Rage for a short while.
This man did not just say it reminds him of Kid Rock? Please never listen to rage again you are clearly not about them. Didn't even begin to try and understand the message of the song.
Best band in los angeles california😍
Excellent Rage reaction..hope u do more..
Killing in the name....and Down rodeo should be next
Tom Morello is neither underrated or overrated he is rated “just right”. Saw AudioSlave live and it was great!
I agree. If you know music and rock in particular, you know him, and he get's A LOT of deserved recognition.
it’s impossible not to bob your head listening to these guys 😂🤘
Facts! When I was camping with my family i played Rage and bet them they couldn’t not bob their heads…they lost lol😂
Kid Rock? You have to be kidding.
Hip Hop, rock and funk...all fused into some amazing music.

They've made many cool songs! This one is my fave but you can't go wrong with anything from them really. ✌❤

Guitarist Tom Morello once described them as Rap/Punk/Metal.
Needs to be heard in STEREO.
"Killing in the name" is the song which you should start RATM journey :)
I used to do bodybuilding, and i can tell you right now this is this BEST music to train to, every gym play generic dance crap, trust me, wanna power up your work out? Stick some rage against the machine on
You'll really like "guerilla radio". One of their biggest hits. Very funky, excellent rapping, just a bit faster but still about that groove.
Saw rhem at Coachella 1998 .
Epic. Im 50 and still RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE
Take a deep dive. They are amazing. Morello is a wizard on his guitar.
Don't ever Compare Rage with kidrock 🤬 . kidrock is gay.. ! Please don't let this happen again. Thank you.✊🏼✌🏼🙏🏼Rage is real talk.
Tom Morello is one of the most underrated and innovative guitarists ever!!!
Everything and everyone are 'underrated' according to TH-cam comments. He is highly regarded in the guitar world.
Said no one
need to quit splitting headphones. Might be getting half the song
Rage against the machine = a Metal band with an MC.
NU Metal, like limp biscuit, Slipknot.
Rage against The Machine Wake Up. (was the outro music to the first matrix)

Awe big mistake ya'll. Never share ear buds. You missed a lot of the music.
Yeah I saw the in a DC club in 95 with Public Enemy opening up for them. The most intense show I’ve ever been to!
Their bassist, Tim Commerford, is into lifting as well

Public enemy got with Anthrax for a Bring the Noise redux. Got this feel to the spades.
Freedom is one you guys should appreciate
Guerilla radio was always my favorite.
Listen to the music. Listen to the message. It’s the same song. That’s the way
Saw them in 93 live in Chicago awesome show anti government hence their name but then they told us if we didn’t get the jab couldn’t come to there show and lost all respect for them
Lol
You can't match the Power/Passion and Funk of RATM. They took Rap/Rock to the next level and made you feel what they felt.
When you say "these guys sound like X rock band", just reverse that and say "X rock band sounds like these guys". These guys laid the foundation. Thanks
It's "DA BOMB 💣!!!" 😂
Straight BANGING
Fun fact. Tom Morello, guitar player. Harvard grad.
Yes bulls on parade is slang for cops in riot gear… just a fun fact
Rap-Rock and SO much BETTER than kid rock
How can you possibly share ear buds for music? Left and right are separate channels. At the start of the song, only the right channel plays…
Good point, I didn’t see the shared earbuds till you said it
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏treinta años y siguen haciendo que te levantes a bailar 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌👏👏👏👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥😜🇪🇸
Kid Rock-ish?????????? Dude. No.
Lol right
Canny believe ye mentioned kid rock mate yer lucky your chick loves you!!
Tumb up guys!!
RAGE IS HARD CORE TURNT UP DA FUNK
If you like this genre of music, then I suggest y'all check out the bands Downset and EDL (Every Day Life)
1st.... both need headphones.. This is audiophiile stuff... You need to both have full sound. Okay, carry on.
These guys were and still are SUPER anti government and it's fantastic!!!! Great choice. You should DEFINITELY go down the Rage rabbit hole
Welcome in RATM water, I hope you'll stay.
WOOW the great song with the nice reactors..the next maybe you can react to VOB with Killing In The Name Of live at Rennes France ( RATM cover)..
I wonder how much RATM would live having "copyright" bannered across this video that's reaching the people they intended it to
This is a step above regular Rock and or Hip Hop.
The student massacre in Mexico in 1968 at min8:00
Definitely listen to more Rage, I would recommend Wake Up
RATM used to tour with public enemy
I'm here to claim RATM for punk rock.

If you are interested....check out VOB, Voice of Baseprot. That new band from Indonesia was heavily influenced by RATM and Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
zach was very beastie boys sounding
Evil Empire is a great album!
I recommend wake up, no shelter and down rodeo by them...
No idea
It's rap-rock. Like Lincoln Park 😂
Oh please react to Korn Freak on a Leash & Shoots & Ladders 🤘
Definitely rock
Black panthers at min4:38
The reaction has to be from their live performance
funny how you never want to talk about what the song is actually talking about. don't miss your gym appointment.
You guys should listen to Zappa.
Dont ever categorize Rage with Kid Rock. NOT THE SAME KIDS!
God I miss them

Reacting with half a headphone is the way to go
Love the band and song alot. My only gripe is how repetitive it is.
Latest from Morissette BRUNO MARS EVOLUTION MEDLEY reactors talking much about
How dare to compare Zac with kid rock … yeah def need to get school about music 😳

Did you really mention Kid Rock in this reaction?
