I watched Super play his first SANFL game and nearly every one of his League games including his last game....simply a brilliant player ...he read the game so well and could position himself on the ground wherever the action went.....one of nature's gentlemen off the field as well.
i love glenelg and loved super growing up. i worked in the kitchen at footy park in the 1990s and a lady i worked with bought him into the kitchen for me to meet. seemed like a very nice bloke. he got 52 hit outs during a game, incredible for a big fella.
As a Port supporter I always liked Carey. Cornes, Mcguiness and Mcdermott not as much. Super was talented but was very unassuming. As Port supporters you wanted to find something to dislike about the Tigers but Super didn't give anything. The other three just mentioned had a bit of "strut" and "swagger" about them which made it easier to dislike. 🙂
