Why listening to the second story it came to my mind an alien running from a riot policeman equipped with a riot shield and a club, they start panicking because every time they look back they see that the human is staring at them and not were he is running and he is making closer and closer even fully equipped
1:47 Yeah, we can do that. Every human being on earth has the power within their muscles to hurl a multi-ton boulder through the air, the thing is, as mentioned, it tears the ever-living heck out of your muscle tissue, so your brain doesn't let you unless, say, your body is being crushed by said boulder, or you're a mother whose baby is under a burning car.
Actually it doesn't even have to be someone you love. I have seen an account of a man that lifted a big American 4x4 pickup's front end off a person being crushed by one of the oversized tires. Everyone else was panicking or looking for a jack he said the wasn't time for a jack grabbed the front of the truck and lifted. The surveillance video was terrible but a dozen odd witnesses agreed on what happened.
That’s an understatement. Doing something like that will rip your muscles to pieces, and can cause your bones to break. Just because we can, doesn’t mean we can do it whenever. If our minds didn’t have those self imposed mental blocks, we’d had all killed ourselves off simply by performing normal tasks.
So it's not an imposed "limiter" is adrenaline, you can do all this because when adrenaline hits your heart beats faster, flushing your muscles with more oxygen rich blood and your body burns a ton of is fuel reserves to feed your muscles and necessary organs (i.e lungs, heart, liver, etc). So you could lift absurd amounts as much as you want, it's just convincing your body to release the adrenaline needed is almost impossible. Save for moments of extreme stress like being crushed, having a car fall on your uncle, or getting shot at. It's also why being injured or maimed in a near fatal way does particularly hurt until after you've calmed down. Your muscles are your muscles they don't get bigger or stronger they just get more effective, because every time you get sufficiently scared your body activates a "kill everything in this general vicinity," mode.
@@lqg4395 For the being crushed and throwing cars thing; your muscles only ever use about 1/3 of their potential so as not to tear themselves, snap ligaments, and put extreme stress on or break your bones. They can actually work at three times what you can will them to, it's just that your brain puts a limit on them so you don't hurt yourself, but will release that limit when you're, say, being crushed by a boulder.
"BUCKMAN! Why is the lard where the coffee supposed to be? You think when we get up in the morning we're all going to come in here and enjoy a nice hot cup of pig-fat?!" "Well, if it's a cold enough morning, sir..."
"She had the most beautiful dark brown skin and her hair was a giant halo of softness that seemed to explode off of her head" I never want to hear writers say they can't describe dark skinned characters. This is fantastic and a great example. And it can be even easier than this.
The problem is when dark skinned people in real life get sensitive about being described. I describe my hair as Velcro-like and "dark brown," is vague the only real indicator is the hair. The main issue I've seen is almost every brown or black person is pretty much guaranteed to have brown eyes and dark hair. Not a whole lot of variety and therefore less room for descriptions. This does however have the secondary benefit of forcing writers to write good, memorable brown/black characters. But if people get too hung up on the skin color the overall character and personality tend to suffer as a consequence.
hmm.. the same way like if one have to describe someone of great affection ,that is very 'look alike' of ther demographic ...a 'good' description often just leans into the classic ''he might have the same blue eyes like all th rest..but its the most ocean deep blue of them all!'' or such things either way..yhee.. always nice with a good description it dont need to be long after all just 'on point'
@@Amoth_oth_ras_shash it's OK to be classic, it's ok to be a cliche, just be honest, "she had a beautiful skin that made me want to hug her and feel her body heat", what color was her skin? It doesn't matter, I was honest with you and myself and described it the best way I could. BTW, her body was warm and her hair smelled nice, I'm not blind but don't see very well, so I focus on other aspects.
Infrared, a spectrum of the infrared spectrum, though light, can be considered heat energy, or heat light, when in reality, it isjust a wavelenght range on the electromagnetic spectrum. If it was merely an indicator, it would give off when things get get, but it's more accurate, quite different than that. Infrared light is easily absorbed, and heats things up more than visible light, even though visible light probably has more energy, since it is litterally a higher energy wavelength; when visible light gets aborbed, it get's downgraded to infrared. It's not like micrwavaes. As microwaves, don't exactly absorb and heat up. A specific frequency resonates with water, and that causes friction when it vibrates, so it's more like microwaves get tricked into producing more energy than their wavelenght, and a bad anology to infrared. Infrard more seems less reflected than visible light, so all the energy goes into the object. This is porbably why infrared toasters work better or faster than microswaves: your not waiting for the a microwave to resonate.

I have been searching for a story pertaining to the eyes. I don’t remember the title and I have been scouring TH-cam for a collective month. I recall the story being about a Terran walking into a bar or diner with after a gang had walked in. The human sits down and then the gang leader struts over to try and pick a fight. Pulls a blaster and shoots the Terran point blank only for the Terran to not flinch. A bit after when the group dies or runs away the Terran pays for their drink and the barkeep or server locks eyes. “Blue like blood”? I don’t know if my mind is just making stuff up or what, if anyone can point me in the proper direction I’d be much obliged.
Ya know, there's more to the eyes thing than just mumbo jumbo. Ever seen the white of an ape's eyes? Think about their eyes - remember if you can. They're mostly black, the vast majority of what you can see is pupil. Human eyes are specifically evolved to have large whites and small pupils precisely so that someone could tell where someone else was looking with just a quick glance at their eyes. It was a useful thing for group hunters, but outside of those hunting situations, such stealth wouldn't be terribly useful, as seen by the fact that it really isn't as pronounced in other apes. It likely would be a rare occurrence among aliens with eyes, unless it happened that our evolutionary pathways to intelligence was a very common one. So, instead of something about "a fire burning inside" it'd be more of a "they're staring into your very soul" or "eyes boring holes into you" thing, as every indicator that would be normally used by a species with much larger pupils used to judge these things would be pushed into overdrive whenever eye contact is made. And in that vein, things like "undressing someone with your eyes", or "staring right through you", or even staring into short versus middle distance might be indicators or behaviors totally unique to human eyes, yet understood by many species.
Most of us have social anxiety now, and cannot and will not intentionally look someone in the eye. To us it isn't an acknowledgement it's a threat. Don't do that. And don't expect us to ether. I would honestly rather be anywhere else than speaking to a perfect stranger for any reason.
