  • We have been so busy harvesting, elderberry, and figs on the farm right now that mowing the lawn has been very low on the priority list. We have had so much consistent rain this summer after the initial drought that the grass has gone crazy. It got to the point where I couldn’t open the gate to the Chicken yard very well because the grass was too tall and thick. we decided that it might be time for the chickens to start earning their keep and do a little mowing for us. This is where being a hoarder comes into play. I had rolls of electric fencing from back in the day when I used to do a big mobile coupe and they were And didn’t work. Of course I held onto I’m going this will come in handy, but they’re such a pain to work with anybody who’s ever used one can attest to that. But let me tell you I cut them into smaller sections so they were manageable, and then created an area for the chickens to be able to come out of their backyardand do a little mowing for us during the daytime and they have done a fabulous job. I can open the gate now! Go chickens! Forever foods Farm. August 8, 2024.
