Let’s be honest, this Hasbro edition is as good as the big $$$ ones, unless of course you need the “prestige” of owning the super high priced versions that few can afford. For 99% of fans who just display these, they’re brilliant.
It’s pretty damn good!
It's hard to argue with the price point if you are a collector starting out and it presents well. However, what drove me to the legend edition was the lineage, the pistol and the fact it was a signature edition. Those factors tend to drive a higher price point for the discerning collector. I'm sure Gabe would agree.
For my needs and budget definitely hasbro all the way as a shelf display, that I'm the only person looking at. Sometimes, I see the more expensive screen accurate ones and think maybe. But the massive price difference for what you're getting seems insane to me. And then the really expensive ones, for the most part, seem to use really obvious stickers. The weathering can be really cartoony, and the inside of the helmets tend to be unfinished. I would just expect a lot more if I was paying such high prices.

If you want a proper Scout Trooper helmet then you go to RS Props in the UK. That will be made exactly as the originals were with vacuum forming and the little bit of black felt in the open ear section - just as it was in Return of the Jedi. It will be around £500.00 and they should be making them again soon as they are preoccupied with their Boush exclusive pre-order. The Black Series is a toy and the EFX inaccurate and expensive. The EFX is part ABS. That’s not how it was made back in 1982. I own an RS and I have the EFX on PO although I am considering cancelling that. It does come with a nice signed plaque.
Hate to say it, but the Hasbro helmet looks way better than the other two.
The inaccuracies on the Hasbro helmet seem like improvements to me. Shame it wouldn't be 501st approved. Especially for something like the vents at the back are actually cuts and not stickers to look like cuts.

Great review of the Biker Scout helmets. I also picked up the Hasbro Black Series Biker Scout a few weeks ago. With this helmet, I have the Black Series Artillery Stormtrooper's, Bo Katan, and I'm waiting for Axe Wove's to ship in October.

Nice review of an awesome helmet. It would be interesting to see how the Black Series compares to the helmets of the biker scouts who turn up in the newer series such as The Mandalorian as Hasbro usually model these from laser scans of the items seen in the more recent appearances. I wonder if those sculpted vents are correct to those newer versions a bit like how the vents are sculpted on the Black Series Stormtrooper to match what is in Rogue one rather than the painted on vents from the OT. It's often unfair to compare Black Series to legacy lineage items as often that is not what the Black Series is modelled after.

I did a pre-order for this yesterday on Hazbro Pulse for 99 dollars. I might have gotten lucky because they charged my credit card later that same day and now their web site shows out of stock and no pre-orders. Keeping my finger crossed. To be honest, I was never really to much into this style helmet, but (like you said) Hasbro did a great job on this and I really like the way the front section looks. Especially the sun visor section. It might be hollow, but I like the thick appearance. Speaking of which, I wish they would have done something similar with the Vader helmet.
I love this helmet!! I only own two black series helmets I recently started collecting them. I got the mandalorian death watch trooper in a big GameStop haul of mine, that was my first one. My second was Trapper Wolf from Ollie’s. I hope to collect more in the future but I try not to be partial to any one type of collectible in my collection, I love collecting anything Star Wars. I’ve seen people post this helmet a lot it looks really cool. Subscribed and liked! And can’t wait to keep supporting your channel!!

Now that I see them side by side, the give-away on the BS is their rounder goggles and narrower inner face area that meets the hood. The batter cover also, of course. I think it would be easy to alter the shape of the goggles to make them look more screen accurate though. I think I need to get one as well. 😁

I think the black series one looks the best, accuracy be damned. The decals always look cheap in person regardless of their accuracy in screen. The black series looks more of what it's supposed to look like in my opinion.

That’s what I said! I believe the black series is what it should have looked like in the og films. I find it cringy every time I see stickers or non functional vents on cars body kits or bike helmets.
Only thing I wish this one had, is the vents on the side when you open it up like the og,.. but can’t complain. This one is the best hands down

I would go with RS over EFX if you are looking for lineage. But I agree, the Black Series is looking good... for what it is- idealized.

Thanks for this. I JUST recently broke my personal Scout bucket (I am a 501st member). I was wondering if this would be approvable. They decided that it is NOT approvable for some of the reasons you mentioned, indents on the vents, seams all around, the ears need to be worked on, and esp the visor. It's a shame, but it was very tempting to replace my old bucket.

This one 💯 better than my 501. Makes my 501 look cheap … love the actual vents, unlike the sticker vents which is cheap looking. Sure, that’s what they use in the og, but let’s be real, all of us that are into the car /bike scene, find sticker vents corny and cheap on any kit. Cringy.

If i understand, clone, imperial and first order helmets have voice changers so when activated, you'll speak and it will sound kinda like in the movies yet it seems Mandalorian helmets can't

I’m into collecting toys but hasbro has put a majority of the helmets out for $99. & this is one of them. I bought 3 & had 1, so I ’m trying to build cubbies but I find conflicting information . I guess I’m going to have to wait until they come in. I’m guessing 12.5 inches cubed should fit (helmet only ). Crazy for this one being $99. Because didn’t it just release for black series?

Hasbro one is based on Mandalorian Season 1 Scout Trooper.
The EFX version looks Warped up in the Top right corner of the helmet.
For a collector that wants something with a strong likeness to the original without any concern for accuracy the black series is an unbelievably good option considering how much it costs. However, for anyone that is looking for accuracy or a genuine replica... the black series is so inaccurate it's borderline impossible to get it approved at all for trooping unless you go to extreme lengths to modify it.
Here's some of the major items in terms of 501st approval (sourced from the Pathfinder boards and touches base on everything that is inaccurate):
- Ear openings would need to be drilled out.
- Mesh on mic would need to be painted black.
- Any and all seams, such as those around the battery compartment and around the ears on the sides would need to be filled, sanded, and painted. You'd probably have to paint the whole helmet.
- Indented features or "vents" not present on the original helmets, such as the faceplate decals, the black parts of the rear traps, or the black bars on the lower rear, would need to be filled, sanded, painted, and replaced with the proper stickers or decals.
- Bottom edge of the face plate should be all white, not half black, half white.
- Rotator bolts have no indent and would need to match the 3M bolts (Level 2 criteria).
- And here's the big one: unfortunately, the inner part of the visor shroud is a major issue with the helmet. For approval, a helmet needs to be "true to the shape of original screen used helmet", which means that the inner portion of the visor should have a return edge. That's not the case here, as the inner portion of the visor shroud seems to be flush with the rim.
The visor is a major issue. I have the RS Props scout which is one of, if not the most accurate helmet a fan can get their hands on ( considering it's lineage) and have compared it to the black series and it's night and day. There really isn't anything you can actually do to fix how the visor is constructed.
I just wanted to share that info for people that see this black series helmet as a "replica" or a 501st level of accurate.... It's certainly not but it's likeness despite all these issues is incredibly good. I think this is one of the best shelf queen helmets for anyone who wants a decent looking scout helmet for very little $$$ but when you see it side by side with a genuine replica helmet you can easily see just how "toy-like" the black series helmet really is. I myself have 2 of these black series because I think they'll be a lot of fun to customize and display. One of the coolest helmets the black series line has given us... it's just a shame they made a few of the choices they did when designing them.

Neither the vents or the mouth piece is inaccurate, becouse this helmet is actually based on the mandalorian version, wich indeed has cutout vents and a different mouth piece. Not sure why they labeled it as an ep6 helmet tough.

The shitty seam on the limited has nothing to do with is being fiberglass. eFX just screwed it up. Black series all day long over the wonky limited and the price of the Legend, with a bonus that nobody had to wait a decade after pre-ordering for delivery.

The back is not supposed to be cheapy, especially biker helmet. The black series is what the vents suppose to be. Stickers for vents??😂 Noooooo .. fc looks like a cheap body kit from VIS.
