    Another great video, Kevin 👍
    As to the price, the $899 Lectric XP can't be overlooked. At $1,599 does the extra $700 for suspension, a few more mph, and no seat height adjustment sound fair? I'm not convinced.
    Nearly at 900 miles on my XP so headed over & under the hump of $1 per mile of operating cost. Riding my XP every day that weather permits.
    But on that note just bought a used Toyota in good condition for $1,100. Yes, keeping this car running will be more expensive than the Himiway moped but with a range of 400 miles to a tank of gas and four seats, sometimes a car wins. ✌️ out

    I have watched quite a few e-bike videos (I caught the bug and bought a Rad Rover just before quarantine...phew) and this review is the best overall I have seen on these "eMoped" class of bikes so far. The shot angles were helpful for a virtual examination of the bike, fit, finish etc.
    Himiway also has a Step-over Fat Tire but this could be their Bread and Butter bike... currently on "sale" from $2150 to $1600 and $1950 with 2 Batteries (as of late March 2021) .... with a Two Year Warranty.... this is an above average deal....and no, I am not shilling.

    You should look up the puch maxi. This design is inspired by an old school Moped that also had a pedal on it. They gain popularity for how cheap they were and a they got 120mpg in the late 70's and early 80's. If you have seen the movie Bumble Bee the main character rides a green one

    The question is reasonable, Kev, and given your ownership and experience with mopeds, I can see it. But for me, the design of these e-bikes with fat little tires and high-rise bars and a long seat is like total modern mini-bike to me. And back in '75, I got a Honda 50 Dax when I was a teen in Frankfurt, West Germany, and that little motorcycle was a kick, my first. And a friend had a 50cc Yamaha and we'd go riding together on two-lane roads and trails through the woods. So yeah, I would call this e-bike a mini-bike before a moped.

      @@TheCharleseye Yeah, neither did I and I never rode a mini-bike ever, but I had my Sting-Ray and I was good with that. But I was just making a personal observation about the general styling vibe of these e-bikes and to me, they look like fun, modern mini-bikes. But I should probably revise that to say that look like fun, modern mini-cycles and mini-cycles was the term back in the day for the Honda Dax and such. And unlike mini-bikes with their mower engines, you could actually ride a mini-cycle far from home and my friend and I did that as 15-year-olds in West Germany--our farthest trip from home was a ride to Darmstadt and it was the day after we had competed in a bike race sponsored by the USO and 7-Up for American teens in downtown Frankfurt. And we rode those mini-cycles like our ten-speeds in the race, taking turns in the front and drafting each other. And we did ring all the performance we could out of those little motorcycles.

    • @robbchastain3036
      @robbchastain3036 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Def Style I am fine with your take on it, no worries, but for me, as one who was an American teen in Frankfurt, West Germany in the '70s, mopeds will always mean smokey machines ridden by lazy dudes who should've been pedaling bicycles, lol. But they were fun to chase, so much fun. The shiny orange and chrome ones could not be caught, too new, but the old smokers could be chased down and overtaken, always with a cheery "Guten Tag" from me, as I was hiding the pain of the chase. Good times.

    I'm trying to decide between the Himiway Escape, and the Rad Runner 1. I'm leaning towards the Escape because the Rad Runner doesn't have any suspension. The Rad Runner Plus does, but the price is alittle out of my range. Update: I'm going with the Rad Runner, because it doesn't have any gears or derailer. Less headaches.

    • @jackorchard1279
      @jackorchard1279 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right, Kev, ta- To hone in a tad more I was asking if in your opinion this Himiway Escape was 'likely' to be a good choice for an ole codger with some physical limitations who would be doing fairly short rides whilst towing me dog. (Perhaps liability issues of some sort won't allow you to give an opinion- forgive me ignorance, lad, should that be the case.) I love the front & rear shocks & style as you do, & the solid feel ya describe. Is there another E-bike you believe that I should be considering instead that perhaps stands out as possibly a better choice? (I am experimenting to see if the seat height would be correct for me.)

In addition, any Electric Moped that is over 4k Watts is considered an Electric Motorcycle and must be registered, tagged, and licensed as a Motorcycle. you certainly can, but you'll likely have to get one in a smaller frame size. That makes recommendations hard to give. My Schwinn Aluminum Comp fits me at 5 ft 9 in, but only bearly. in the lower price bracket, you're looking for anything in the 26" wheel size or smaller pretty much. The best recommendation I can give you would be to go to wherever you can buy bikes locally and sit on a bunch of them. Going used can save you a lot of money as well, but I'd avoid buying *most* used department store brands.

      @@KevCentral You may be right. I've never ridden a moped that couldn't do 30 to 35 up hill but my experience is limited. Up to 20 mph I imagine it'll outperform many ICE mopeds.
      I may also be jaded against the hub motor. I've converted 2 e-bikes with a BBS02 & a BBSHD and both can outperform any of the popular e-scooters.

    I have the similarly styled Hyperscorpion from Juiced Bikes (their Scorpion model is more directly comparable to this bike but I wanted torque sensing) and while my butt likes the scooter style seating I'm going to raise it up to normal bicycle height. Juiced sells a riser but even then it'd be too short for my liking, so I'll DIY one.

    • @KevCentral
      @KevCentral  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      How is the torque on the hyper scorpion? Hill climbing wise? Juiced was supposed to send one for me to review. Got to the point of getting my shipping info, then nothing 😂. Haven’t heard a word from them since, and that was last spring.

      @@KevCentral It's done well up hills thus far but I haven't done anything too serious yet. Being my first ebike I've nothing to compare it to.
      Yeah, their customer service was not exactly amazing when I found it came with a bad torque sensor. Very slow to respond, with a week between each message so the back and forth dragged out a couple months. Only got it working a couple days ago. Weather was cold here anyway so I didn't miss much, but not a good impression.
