    Good video, I’d stay cable with your speeds and price as well. I’ll add a little more about starlink though so people don’t get the wrong impression. I’ve had starlink for over a year, work remote, and attend meetings all day. I’ve had 1 instance where I had some lag and needed to repeat myself.
    20mbps upload is pretty good and the stability of the network has been great, so long as you have a clear path to the sky.
    Ping will be slower yes, but your ping was just fine. For bandwidth, you have to remember with cable it’s shared bandwidth with everyone else to the node, whereas satellite is dedicated bandwidth to the point source.

      That’s great to hear! I think the dish could have been mounted much higher on a pole to give it a completely unblocked view of the sky to reduce interruptions.

      @@Ryunohara It would not have helped much. Even clouds interfere with the signal.

    Good video as always, it's exiting to see Ryunohara steadily improve over time :). I have a tiny rant though, of course cable is going to be faster and more reliable than Starlink in most cases. Starlink meant for places without network infrastructure! People go from 3G celular network to satellite. Not from cable (I assume coaxial cable or fiber optics) to satellite.

      @Ryunohara  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes cable is usually much faster, but people were saying Starlink could be paused and unpaused so I thought it would work out to be cheaper than cable since the house it was meant for wouldn’t be occupied year-round. Most of Japan has 4G though so it’s really only unpopulated offshore islands where Starlink might find customers in Japan.

    I've found cable to be very fast and reliable even vs. fiber optic (NTT, usually), as long as you make sure you have your routers configured correctly. 🙂 The setup fee was reasonable (at least in my part of the country), it came with a free DVD/digital player/recorder, and it includes cable TV (which I never watch, but...). I pay about 7,600 yen a month (about US$58).

    • @Ryunohara
      @Ryunohara  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Wow that’s expensive. How fast is it though? Cable is fast here because almost no one subscribes to it.

    good thing there is buyer's remorse program on this devices. But to be honest, that's the customer's fault not checking the information before getting it. Starlink is good on those area that were remote and no access to fixed internet. It was never designed to be used on developed area as Japan as he mentioned on one of the comments that almost all area in Japan is covered by mobile data 4G

      Hi Jamil Starlink has been promoting its services in Japan and most people are trying it out in the cities. Their website made it seem like the service could be paused and unpaused but did not make it clear in the sign up that Residential contracts could not be paused or unpaused.

    Cable will always be better. just need the right ISP to handle the connection just right.

    "that's really quite slow" my 3rd world country's 2mbs is considered fast. On a brighter side, at least we know what a preloader looks like.

  • @madeofnapalm

    Starlink would be an option if you have no access to any other solution. Otherwise not worth it (at least as it is now).

    • @Ryunohara
      @Ryunohara  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it would work if it could be paused when unused but it can’t so it doesn’t make financial sense at the moment.

    Hi Ryunohara, I would like to ask you about the Refund fee, did you get the refund?
    I had similar problems with Starlink and I returned on time, but I am having some troubles with refund, " bank rejeced refund... bla bla ..." " we need an official letter from your bank... bla bla.."
    Please let me know how was your case, did you get the refund without problems?
