    Hi ,
    Thank you so much for your video. My Discus looks exactly the same as your and his belly is very big now.
    I have tried some Table Salt (cooking Salt) but it seem not working .
    I am going to try some Epsom Salt then . Hopefully it will work

    Epsom salt age old treatment I use to treat the fish separately for ten minutes and return it back to the main tank it seemed to help many ailments

  • @hoomanity2715
    @hoomanity2715 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I thinks maybe u should treat the individual fish instead of the whole tank because all of them popping together can cause an ammonia sprike....an also i been told that u should dissolve the salt in advance before adding to ur tank

      Yes I treated mine that way. Put it in 2 gallons of water and it worked just the same. That way I didn't have to deal with the whole tank.

      @@SimpleAquariumsLauren I think he overeats, or eats to quickly but I used food that sinks to they pick up the food, so he shouldn't be taking air into his belly but I'm gathering his is caused by fermentation in the belly.
      He had no signs last night this morning at about 11ish turned the light on and he was struggling against the buoyancy of his belly and floating on his side via his belly.I've Beens spending the rest of my time stressing over him. I've got the light off rn because he prefers it, I'm hoping it'll calm him so he just let's the epsom salt do it's thing(they bet a bit of natural light so they can still see)

    Salt put into main tank not kill the good bacteria?

    • @wabalaka1565
      @wabalaka1565 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I usually add a little bit of salt into the water everytime I do water change. But curing fish is different we gonna need more salt and after the fish get better do 1/3 water change to floss the salt out it gonna be fine a little bit of salt in the water kill very very little bacteria but it gave alot benefit to the fish and bacteria gonna grow back. U should start using salt for your fish but do some research fish because u can overdose easily water evaporation is more likely to cause the overdose

  • @MajSiddiqui

    I'm currently treating an adult Discus for bloat. I'm following instructions where it says 1 tablespoon Epsom salt per 10 Gallons. And same dosage after 4 hours if fish doesn't excrete waste...and another same dosage after 4 hours. Repeat next day starting with a WC.
    So im wondering here it says 1 tablespoon per 40 gallons. I'm treating in a 55-gallon aquarium. Am I overdose?

    SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!!
    I’ve just done a water change (I do a 50% once a week). I haven’t tested the water yet, because I just did the water change and are letting the water “cycle” for the night before testing it in the morning.
    But! My Gold Dust molly is bloated and hasn’t defecated in about a week! I’ve only been in the hobby for about 3 years and have NEVER dealt with this situation before. Long story short, I’ve done research and performed an Epsom salt bath.
    US measurements called for 1 tablespoon of Epsom salt per 1 gallon of water for 10-15 mins, place the fish in 1/4 tablespoon of Epsom salt per 1 gallon of water for 5 minutes, and then place the fish back into the main tank.
    She still has not defecated and still seems to swim in circles, though not as frequently. How often do I give my Molly an Epsom salt bath? Should I increase the amount of Epsom salt placed into the gallon of water? If so, how much is the increase? If not, what can I do to save her life?
