The biggest problem I had with bf 5 was the atmosphere and immersion. Say what you will about bf1 but damn they nailed the ww1 atmosphere. BF5 seemed…off for some reason

2042 is a major step back for the franchise in so many ways. The massive 128 player maps lack intricacies and really seemed to bring down immersion I believe.
I thought the tech behind bf1 and bf5 was incredible. Every single moment in those games felt like a movie scene. I don't understand why they downgraded for 2042.
When your really look at these side by side, you can tell the only thing connecting these 2 games is the engine they were built on. The way they were created and designed were done by completely different people and teams and you can tell.

After BFV, around 90% percent of DICE’s original team left due to “creative restrictions”, with a big chunk of them being the main handlers of the FROSTBITE engine. So imagine losing almost your entire game and engine designer team, whilst promising a new entry. Yeah… the suits fucked up
@@lorenzooliveira1157 so basically bf2042 was dead even before arrival, literally was dead in the concept stages..that sucks although admittedly i’d say it’s…*better* to keep it lightly, still doesn’t hold up to older bf titles but it’s good on it’s own it just pains me to see that bf2042 could’ve genuinely been that love letter that DICE was talking about, instead we got a unfinished rough draft of that love letter honestly i think DICE was genuine about the love letter and tried there absolute hardest to make that love letter but unfortunately the people on the game were mostly inexperienced
If the game played like Battlefield 3 or 4 it would actually be good. Hell, that's all they fucking needed to do, just BF4 but with better physics, new maps and updated graphics.
With DICE continuing to release lame skins at the expense of a broken game months after release as well as the player base, that's not too far fetched of an idea
The OG dev who experienced in battlefield development and utilizing frostbite engine most of them are already resigned, so the new dev didnt know how to make battlefield game. This franchise is doomed.
Despite the marketing and controversial decisions, it was a good game, in my opinion. BFV had the features and materials to make a perfect Battlefield game. Beautiful graphics, models, animations, movement, attrition, customization, etc. But for some reason, DICE decided not to use those things and instead created a literal downgraded version of Battlefield. Like, just how can someone screw up *that* bad?
1 because they were working at home most most of the time. 2 because of 128 player count limits hardware 3 because most BF games release in a buggy state 4 but i still have fun in it bc im not that serious where i cant have fun.
@@nepnepguythegreatestofall Yes BF2042 isnt doing well rn. And i dont care to much that they blamed halo. Yes its dumb but it doesent affect gameplay so i dont care about it too much.
My favourite detail in BF5 is how soldiers have stumble animations to break up their running animations and also when they run slightly into an object on the side the soldier will react to it accordingly. Same with explosives and I think suppressive bullets while running. Really broke up the running animations and made them seem genuine and always as cinematic as a trailer
True, those are some nice details! If only the weapons would feel (more) realistic, BFV could've been for me. Too bad they shoot like bb guns imo. Also with all the nonsensical weapon attachments for that time like suppressors, red dot sights, stupid camos and ornaments.. it makes it look rediculous. Not to talk about soldier skins omg. So i went to Hell Let Loose instead and got what I wanted from a WW2 game.
@@sittingduck4771 only 4 weapons have suppressors tho, the M3 grease gun, which you don't have to equip it, the 1911 and PPK, and same as the M3 you don't have to equip them. The M3 carbine was built with a suppressor irl I believe.
Battlefield 1 was nearly perfect. Awesome campaign, OPERATIONS MODE, and maps. The only thing I didn't like was how difficult it was to unlock new weapons and those damn loot boxes.
It got boring after a while too. Too many explosions, too much dying right after you spawn, too much time spent sitting on a flag, too many glitches (early release, but it’s EA so that’s to be expected), etc. That being said, it’s still my favorite Battlefield game. Everything else was really good despite the flaws.
@@ronweasly778 I agree. Plus the immersion level was through the roof! Whenever a new wave started and you'd hear the whistles and everyone charging while the enemy retreated. Nuts.
I personally didn't like it. I'm not into the whole WW1 thing for Battlefield, I like modern warfare type better. I also didn't like how you had to put a whole magazine into a dude to kill him (bf4 had the same thing). In my opinion BF2, BC2 and BF3 are the best ones in the franchise.
I still play Bf1 and I can honestly say this: 1. Yes, some guns were hard to get like the Img 08/18 Suppression due to needing 300 resupplies to get the first half done. But that was the fun of it. I'm currently trying to get the Martini-Henry Sniper which requires 300 kills, God help me. 2. The loot Crates, yes were kinda pointless, but it was never bugging you about buying them. It was just..kinda there. By the time I even realized it was there, I had enough coins to buy a pack or just get one for [Redacted due to EA doesn't like that word]. 3.The only thing I can say that is bad was the "Booster" packs for $9.99 to skip levels in your classes.
I went back to Battlefield 5 and I’ve been having a blast. It’s still such a good game. I know it could have had more content but the quality is so much better than 2042.
@@Half_Finis so as you are playing an arcade fps (this is not hell let loose or anything close mind you) the only thing you care about it cosmetics? But it shouldn’t really matter anyway because I don’t play battlefield for realism and historical accuracy I play squad and arma mil sim for that. I play bf when I wanna hop on mess around and blow some stuff up, you are sad if you rely so heavily on immersion in an arcade shooter that you cannot bare to play it because women are in the military when they shouldn’t be.
@@dysfunctionalorange Yeah we're sad that every "ww2" game wants to include women where they shouldn't be. I've played war games that have women in them. That's perfectly fine. The problem is when you say you're making a ww2 game and clearly have a political agenda towards that. There's literally a quote from EA proving that with their nonsense. If you're making a fantasy ww2 game then go all in similar to wolfenstein. I think the dumbest thing I've read in your post is that somehow you think an "arcade shooter" is an excuse to have historical inaccuracies. Cod games for ps2 are arcade shooters and have way more historical accuracies. Maybe you're just too young?
This is why we loved these games some moment’s especially in BF1 I legit thought I was in a real war or in a movie it can be so cinematic it’s special. They legit took all of it away. You notice all these things removed but you don’t notice them when they’re in it just blends in and makes it perfect.
Downgrades are always a sad thing because it preceeds the death of a studio. I read that all the team behind graphics were new members, and nothing was left by the previous team who knew all the secrets of Frostbite. Not a simple note. The new team was totally unable to manipulate the graphic until 1,5 year on the 3 of development. Moral : when a team change, the entire game change. Like you know everything about Rubiks Cube, u give it to someone who knows nothing ... then leave ...
BFV had great attention to details, I loved how soldiers were so flexible like prone running and natural looking turns when lying on the ground etc. And animations when entering or getting out of vehicles. Gunplay was good. It was a good game in the end, it’s sad they killed it right after Pacific because I think game was going on the right direction. 2042 soldiers are stiff and animations… Well aren’t much of them. And it surely lacks details. I wonder if people who despised BFV back then now can appreciate it more now when we see what 2042 turned out to be.
And then when the next battlefield comes out we’re all gonna look back at 2042 and be like “Maybe we were too harsh on this game. It’s not so bad after all”.
I'm with you at the majority of things you listed. BUT: The animation for getting in and out of vehicels is utter garbage and needs to go and never come back. It simply has no place in a fast multiplayer game like BF and getting shot while getting in or out of a vehicle without a way to counteract it is simply stupid and infuriating.
Same here, still playing bfv on a regulare base since Release and still having so much fun with it. In my opinion, it got more hate than it deserved…especially with that train wreck that bf2043 is
Best thing about BF 2042 ? People started to appreciate BF V more :D I was always on the other side of the barricade - for me BF V was always a blast from the very beginning, one of the best BFs made. BF 2042 is a giant step back in many, many aspects and I'm not gonna buy it even when it's on a huge discount - maybe I'll give it a try when it goes F2P.
For me battlefield was amazing because of all the small pieces. Sure when a bullet hits a window and the window cracks and the bullet hits the wall behind it that seems innocuous and trivial when on its own. Maybe the same thing when there's an explosion and a quasi fox hole is made. It's when all these things happen all at once that the madness and chaos take over. Glass flying everywhere, bullets whizzing by, tank tracks grinding on bricks, the sounds of your squad mates boots. For me it's the totality of the small things that make battlefield unique
Forgot about one of the more incredible details in bf5, being that player soldiers crash against walls for cover, react to scaling terrain, stick to walls if you run alongside them, etc. All in real time
I’ll never forget the first time I played Conquest on Iwo Jima in BFV. Waiting for the ramp to drop and charging out while getting pinned down by Japanese bunkers, looking behind me only to see an LVT get absolutely destroyed before it even hits the beach, and seeing Ki-45’s getting downed by Corsairs is something that every historical game needs. Same thing goes for literally every other pacific map in the game. BF2042 was such a letdown. And the V-1 rocket. Oh the V-1 rocket. Hearing a buzzing getting louder and louder, until it all goes silent. Seconds later, and *BANG*. The entire enemy team and your own is dead. Just watching the A.I. on the outskirts of the maps make it incredibly immersive. Like your really storming the beaches of Iwo Jima and the Solomon Islands. And seeing the ships in the distance, firing off salvos at the island, and the carrier launching aircraft into the air, damn. There really isn’t any WW2 game like it. And before anyone says “Hey, there wasn’t any female soldiers!”, or “Why is the American carrying an MG-42?!”. Just remember, it’s a video game. It’s made to be fun, not entirely accurate. And personally, I think BFV hit it in all the right ways. Sure, some balancing issues here and there, and a few glitches and bugs, but nothing game-changing. Unless you get dive-bombed by a Stuka. That’s a different story lmao
Yes. absolutely but remember that it had a lot of updates and when the game started working they abandoned the project. To design 2042. They promised the Russian army and it never existed in the game. concussion: it sank by itself and many clients like me are waiting for much more content.
It really was a shame that they didn’t just continue with bf5. The game is beautiful and such a fun one to play. The tank gameplay is outstanding in my personal opinion. It makes you think about how you play instead of just ramming every other tank you see. It’s just upsetting knowing that they could have really extended the life of it. I mean, who remembers the when bf4 came out…and now it’s still widely loved today with a lot of active players. They never gave up on that. But yes, at it’s current standing, bf2042 is a letdown. Hopefully it’ll get the same treatment as bf4 did
In the future world of Buttfield 2042, the laws of physics have ceased to exist. That is why you can see the same specialist multiple times on both teams. All the glitches in the game are actually not glitches at all. They are phenomena that transcend the concept of science.
Now suddenly everyone loves BFV, i have been hearing all sorts of things about this game in the past 3 years while i loved It, but now after the disaster called BF2042 everyone loves BFV.
Battlefield 5 totally deserved criticism but not as much as it got, the main complaint was the lack of content and player visibility but now the gameplay is solid the graphics are great
People were also very upset at the lack of atmosphere and grit as well as the lack of major battles. They went with the same mentality of “lesser known battle stories” that worked in BF1, oblivious to the fact that no battles were really ever depicted in games/media about ww1, while ww2 had tons. Look at how well the pacific did comparatively; it literally saved the game and gave replay-ability to this day. And it’s exactly why the long-time devs left; the pacific, eastern front, and US vs Germany were all in the game files from the start bc the old devs were creating that until DICE decided to step in and they all left. The issue with BF5 to this day is that mainstream content never getting finished, besides for the pacific, right before they canceled. Even after the pacific success they were too stupid to realize that listening to the community was their lifeline and they canceled bf5 and created a way worse mess in 2042. BF5 was the perfect lead up and indicator of what 2042 was going to be
@@melcorchancla9431 well yes, who wouldn't set their standard to BF1, it's also Battlefield made by the same devs anyway, BF1 was the pinnacle when it comes to immersion in Battlefield series, at least that's how i felt
I think details are very important for battlefield. I always classified battlefield to not be just a FPS, but its more of a War Simulator. It feels so different, compare to CoD or other first person shooter games. For this reason, I think they should pay more attention towards realism and details.
Agree, for me bf is a nice accessible war „sim“ which has the right amount of arcadyness. The heli controls in bf4 for example it’s the perfect mix out of realism and accessibility. It’s such a shame they didn’t stick to the bf recipe and released such an unfinished „game“
What's crazy is I remember hearing there was no campaign in 2042 which I was thrilled with because the vast majority of players only care about Battlefield for the MP. So I was thinking it was great news because that meant that they can take people away from working on a campaign most people only play once just because they bought and it came with the game so why not play it once and use those people to make the MP even better. What happened with this game. Maybe campaign was actually cut because the MP would have been even worse somehow with it.
I think that the campaign was always gonna be cut so that they could focus on multiplayer, cosmetics, and to save money because it's EA. Also yeah the MP would have been worse if you can imagine that.
Battlefield has some pretty decent campaigns but it was a stupid decision to remove it just for the sake of focusing on multiplayer. 2042 proved that DICE Learned absolutely nothing from the failure of BFV and actually made things worse with 2042. And even without having to develop a campaign they still managed to screw up the game.
I enjoy V. Wish they focused more on V than 2042. Would’ve loved to see the Eastern front or more from the pacific theatre (Japan’s attack on the British pacific colonies, Hong Kong, etc.)
Yeah, I'm not really into the whole almost future war thing, it's been done to death and honestly just feels like a modern warfare shooter anyways (I'd compare 2042 to cod ghosts) at least bf3 and 4 were solid games and those are still my go to for a modern battlefeild.
welcome to the team. I had the same feelings about Battlefield 1. I wanted them to add more to it, rather than work on Battlefield 5. And here we are 🙃
First thing I noticed when I played 2042 for the first time was the graphics. I was expecting an upgrade not a downgrade. It’s not all bad still an impressive game but bfv seemed better especially with the vehicle destruction 100%
bf2042 tried to just get to core roots with destruction and shit, they completely forgot to add in all other aspects though. I supported it for a while because it definitely had room for improvement and it could be a good game, but now it seems they dont give 2 shits
Tbh the most thing I want added to this game is detail. More map design to fit the idea of future war, to the smallest little details remake the experience, make it more immersive.
Cover would be nice. Too much open space. Not to mention for a future war ravaged by climate change, doesn't look too bad. Also, I wish if they're keeping specialists, then say they're clones. Only explanation
LEVOLUTION! one of the main reasons I started playing battlefield was because I thought that was awesome. Halfway through the round, seeing the radio tower, skyscraper or dam come down and having the map be completely different felt so awesome. None of that in 2042 even though its a signature of the series. Also no communication in what was supposed to be a team based game. Plus the introduction of operators with specials ruined the gameplay. just some of the tons of things wrong with 2042.
Here is what confuses me. They went on to create new details in BF2042, like the gunshot through the car windows, before they made sure that all those previous features they had in BF5 were added. It's like, how does that line of thought work?
If you keep adding new features and on top of that increase player count and map size, console can not handle all the demands and stress. So, they have to compromise features.
I think what they were trying to do was optimize 2042 for the bigger battles they'd hoped to have created. Whereas bfv was enhanced to use higher end graphics that most people turned off anyway (often to the detriment of the game since allowing foliage to be turned low gave a huge advantage in spotting people on several maps) Sadly all that optimization was a 1 step forward , 2 steps back situation.
It’s clear that lots of corners needed to be cut due to 1. The fact that they insisted on making this game 128 players 2. If I remember correctly A SIZABLE portion of the DICE devs since the dawn of time left during or after Battlefield V Though I think 2042 is salvageable and is in a significantly better state since the start of the first season, I’d love to see Battlefield get back to the level of attention to detail and atmospheric excellence the last two games in the series were on. Battlefield 1 was, in every metric, my favorite game in the series since Bad Company, and although I had significant issues with Battlefield V’s gameplay, the improvements they made everywhere else were very welcome. Time will tell if the series can get back to THAT level….
All they need to do is build on top of BFV or BF1, add more features, more weapons, more tanks/planes, more weapons on the map, more customisation, more squad leader commands and reinforcements. That would be insane. It’s all there for them. Crazy decisions made with 2042.
What's really frustrating to me is that, historical and single player stuff aside, there was a good three months or so where post launch support for BFV was decent. Bugfixes and patches were coming in pretty steadily, like making the nazi stahlhelms fit the soldiers' heads instead of the little ones it launched with, or adding more authentic-looking cosmetics instead of only the flashier stuff, or rebalancing a few really annoying guns. The vehicles were pretty decent too, and while it's not Ace Combat or anything, I was able to map the flight controls to something I could fly *and* get kills with **and** safely land, which I liked a lot because I've really struggled flying with DICE's control schemes. So it's frustrating to me that the reason they stopped post launch content and fixes was just to allocate a few more burnt out developers for scrambling to make this half-baked pre-alpha quality tech demo hit the shelves. It's frustrating seeing people working their asses off on one thing only to be reassigned before it's finished. And then they work their asses off on the next thing only for it to be ripped from their hands before they're anywhere close to done to fit a release in the financial quarters. It'd be like if a publisher only accepted unedited first drafts for publishing instead of giving writers editors to help refine it, because that way they might save a few weeks' time, at the cost of an unfinished and probably shittier book. Idk, the days of big games being made by some bros in a basement like Wolfenstein or Doom or even recent stuff like Project Wingman, those days are fading pretty fast, and now it all seems to gradually be leaning more towards this kinda direction, and that makes me kinda sad. Rant over; yes I have grass to touch, don't worry.
While I agree with all of that, the thing that killed BF for me was the rampant cheating. Save a few bucks by not having anti cheat software and rely on community policing, then not bother to ban people the community turns in.
@@Onus6688 I agree completely. I don't have a good answer for how to handle that in a game like Battlefield (playing as Warsaw resistance is an idea I just had), but I know what you mean, and it's frustrating when people try to disguise bigotry as "history".

Exactly. The reload animations in 2042 just tried too hard to copy what Infinity Ward mastered, but DICE just began to even grasp: sparing magazines and c-clamping (holding a rifle's handguard with your hand making a C-shape).

As a die hard Battlefield fan from childhood, I waited years and years for the franchise to head back to WW2. With each release, Dice and EA have strayed further and further from the original recipe which fans yearned for. The return to WW2 was suppose to be the greatest game in the series because it finally returned to its roots. Fan expectations were high and nostalgia rates were off the charts. Unfortunately, the game came out when the company was arguably at its worst and well they botched their perfect opportunity to win the hearts of fans and remain on top in the shooter market. What we ended up getting is a lifeless, empty, content ridden, woke shooter that had almost nothing to do ww2 and historical accuracy and was just created with the idea in mind to sell cosmetics after release. IMO it is my favorite BF to date solely because it has ww2 vibes with the help of my imagination, gameplay although rather fast paced at times, is still the most interesting as well. In short, it was a wasted opportunity which destroyed childhoods, dreams and expectations. Then we got 2042 which may have been the final nail in the coffin. I hope it wasn't. The hard-core community has a big heart so it will never die but we'll have to see what they come up with next

Stick to literally any other BF game, because those games were all developed with love and care, 2042 was just a cheap Warzone mix-and-match thingy that isn't Battlefield.
The new frostbite engine is the problem. BF4, 1 and 5 were on frostbite 3 - 2042 is on the new engine frostbite 4 (a guess at the name). It is my belief that the biggest problem with 2042, besides the game play decisions, is the fact that these devs had so little experience with the frostbite engine is that the new one just isn't that good. It would explain a lot of the problems with the game and why they delayed season till summer. They need to fix the engine itself and that I'm sure is a huge undertaking.

I really like bf5 since It released enjoyed it more than 1 the gameplay felt faster, the graphics were better, the gunplay was more fun , I like the building feature it always came in handy for cover and I really liked that squads could build points and the squad leader could call in things like vehicles , smoke barrage and the v1 rocket it made squad leaders feel more important such an underated game but I know its not everyone's taste
To be honest knowing what I know now I would've happily welcomed a complete overhaul and re-release of BFV. Make it 40v40 beef up everything graphically textures the whole nine yards. Add stuff to the game you wish you could but couldn't because of time or tech constraints. then been given this hot shit sandwich we ended up with in BF2042
Honestly they should do the complete overhaul and re-release if 2042. That way the game could be improved and balanced. The devs could upgrade everything, including graphics and textures, as well as gameplay.
I know the same devs that made 1 weren't around when 5 came out, but were the people who worked on 5 also fired by the time 2042 came out? I wouldn't put it past EA to just start firing everyone after a game comes out and replace them entirely. That's the only explanation for how vastly different the games feel after 4.
@@blackvenom597 Yeah, it is, but Cod was never known for being detailed, both the graphics and the detailed are amazing but I think still less than BF I and V
I always thoroughly enjoyed BFV, even when it was in its 'bad' stage. I still have fun on 2042, despite its flaws, but I'm honestly baffled as to how it seems to have been a step back in so many areas. I think it's a case of BF1 and BFV having a gritty, realistic, historical aesthetic, whereas 2042 was an attempt to return to the glossy, modern aesthetic 3 and 4 had, but a lot of the gritty details should have been kept. All wars are horror, not just the major historical ones, and this is not reflected in 2042's style in the same way it was in V and 1.
@@DurangoCzechoslovakia Hence why I used the word 'aesthetic?' I didn't need to respond to the authentic part when your entire comment was irrelevant to the context of the conversation at hand. All I needed was to point out to you that the angle of your comment made absolutely no sense, given the pre-established context of my comment, and the video. Of course, there are games that play, look and feel more 'realistic' than BF games, but once again, I have never said anything against this. Injecting an agreeable, easy-to-digest fact into your comment does not make it more relevant, and does not save your end of this conversation.
I actually did not k ow why people were upset with BF 2042 until I saw this. Detail is very important for a video game especially now, BF 2042 honestly negated this.
how did people hate BF5??? i never understood it, it was my overall favorite BF specfically for the PACE. tanks had weight and meaning, there was more than 1 per map and they were scary but slow. airplanes actually dogfought not just flying around waiting for a helicopter to spawn in for an easy kill. NO LOCK ON weapons. I swear man, modern games are not as fun as WWI-Vietnam era games
Had an eyepatch in the army you could use at shooting range, if you wish, on the not-aim-eye to keep it open but not distracting since for everyone it's simply not possible to shoot with both eyes open due to vison problems and if you spend few hours with one eye closed it affects balance etc
If they really wanted to give their specialists more personality, they could have given them unique lines when in close proximity to a grenade. Or just more unique lines in general.
Battlefield 5 is a perfect example of why you don’t give your fans the middle finger. Why you can’t disrespect the very people who pay your bills. They destroyed one of my favorite games ever for what?
sometimes i just pray dice will go back to bfv and finish what they started bc its a great game and has so much potential, and way more fun than bf2042
The smoke fading away with the wind direction in 2042, like the dust generated by the tank tracks at 5:40, is a nice subtle detail though. Makes the weather elements more believable. Don't know if that's there in BFV?
It would be nice for the game developers to add motion to the snow when your crawling in it. Every little detail just makes the game feel real and filled in in ever crack and corner.
You made a very good video it really shows me how the video gaming industry needs to completely overhaul how they make and update games it's absurd to me that the newest model of a thing (the game in this circumstance) would not retain what the oldest model had, to me for example it's like saying cars made in 2020 all have power windows standard and then now the 2022 model comes out and it's gone no explanation at all and the technology is actually more advanced but for some reason u can't make mud stick on you when you go prone from one game to another a newer game with better technology and it's dumb and this is stupid and it makes no sense and is completely illogical
I feel like Battlefield V was treated too harshly. Like even though it had a lot of things wrong with it like lack of content and bad marketing, but ultimately it was still a Battlefield game. 2042 feels like a half assed attempt, which sure development issues didn't help well with that but still could've been so much better if they delayed it.
You could tell a lot of the development time with pre-2042 installments went into the art and technology. 2042 felt like a halfhearted pivot to de-emphasizing this focus but without clear direction for the gameplay.
the direction is probably a free to play game, the current gameplay and art style is much more suited to a game like COD: Warzone. I could see BF sadly becoming like this over time.
I simply dont see why people call BF2042 a good game. This is literally a huge drawback in content and quality....Battlefield 4 has x4 times more content than 2042....
I reckon it’s about time that Dice make a Battlefield title that last a good few years, rather than the new title every two. It’s incredibly frustrating that previous titles become unplayable due to player base moving on from those games. Considering the majority of player base loving BF3 and BF4s modern setting, it could still very well be maintained as a game today. All they would need to do is introduce more maps and or weapons where they can for it to last as long as 3 titles before giving it a well deserved engine upgrade and all-round update.
I think its time DICE got retired from the BF franchise. The last 5 BF title have been a case of "release now, fix it later" and hardly any criticism/community feedback has been taken on-board, between each title.. DICE just aren't the same anymore.
I feel the same way lmao, that’s if they fix the game though. Only reason battlefield 4 and 5 are now looked at that way is because they got fixed over their life span
If they fix it and it turns out to be a good then sure, thats possible. This is why BF4 and BF5 are great now. Do I think current DICE has it in them to turn this game around? I dont think so. DICE management seems to be too stubborn to make the necessary changes to save this game.
Dude I’ve played every battlefield at launch and while 2042 has been the worst battlefield five was pretty lackluster not just because of the marketing. Only became good a few months or maybe a year later.
I am a COD fan but seeing BF and its attention to detail mad me amazed. I was gonna buy 2042 because the hype was so good around it but thank god i didn't
Any explanation as to why the dramatic change? Perhaps this was overhauled to a whole new game engine and they didn’t have time to do that and add all of these details? There’s usually a lot more going on behind the scenes than we’re aware of.
BF5: Actually fun game to play with terrible marketing.
BF2042: Terrible game with marketing that did overhype the game.

I still play Bf1 and I can honestly say this:
1. Yes, some guns were hard to get like the Img 08/18 Suppression due to needing 300 resupplies to get the first half done. But that was the fun of it. I'm currently trying to get the Martini-Henry Sniper which requires 300 kills, God help me.

Expect the launch when you’d couldn’t see anyone and get killed by some invisible person
BF1 have that in full. BFV in some moments can be like you are real in WW2
Absolutely all those small details are vital to immersion
In battlefield . Soldiers look at each other. Noticed that in all bFs i played. Except 2042
That's because all Soldiers in BF2042 are same
@TV Pines xD
Then they f-up with 2042 taking down the franchise with them
It really was a shame that they didn’t just continue with bf5. Hopefully it’ll get the same treatment as bf4 did
Also panzer storm with the Al Luke vehicles and infantry charging is awesome too

Dude dice has billions of dollars
@@billc6773 money doesn’t solve problems lmao.
All they need to do is build on top of BFV or BF1, add more features, more weapons, more tanks/planes, more weapons on the map, more customisation, more squad leader commands and reinforcements. That would be insane. It’s all there for them. Crazy decisions made with 2042.
🤯🤓🤓🤓💯
Whenever someone cries about “historical” in a BF game it just sounds like “no women and minorities in muh game”
Let's make a game with modern setting that's everybody is wanting, but remove all the amazing detail feature that where in previous title.

@@Pepespizzeria1 the initial buy isn't the profit margin anymore, it's whales who consume in game purchases. If you have nobody for whales to show off to they will not buy.
You never miss something until it’s gone this is a amazing example of that all the little details are dust in the wind on 2042 it’s gone
Me looking back at bfv after bf2042 :
"Perhaps I treated you too harshly"
Battlefield 3 and Battlefield Bad Company 2 had more attention to detail and allowed the player to interact with the environment more than BF2042! It's like the game went back in time 4 or 5 generations!
Yep. Sounds about right. I’ve moved away from BF. It’s what it used to be, and it never will again. I’ll remember the times I played and enjoyed it, but I’m done. World War 3 is a good game and is tons better than 2042. Mind you, it’s only 15 dollars and just got put in beta (it’s been out in alpha since 2018). Definitely worth the money.
@@R0gueM been looking into world war 3 is the servers populated ? I think we will never see games like bf3 or 4 again because most of the developers on those games went on to work for different companies
Damn I miss the good old BF3
The little details that you could witness in the past Battlefield is what make them so incredible and immersive, but this one looks like the every year cod.
Even COD looks better then 2042
Exactly. The reload animations in 2042 just tried too hard to copy what Infinity Ward mastered, but DICE just began to even grasp: sparing magazines and c-clamping (holding a rifle's handguard with your hand making a C-shape).
I’ve always insisted that BFV is the most complete and superior Battlefield game ever, in terms of its visual and gameplay aspects.
It’s my favorite Battlefield title thus far!
BfV is a good game but making a world war 2 game without Red Army is a shame.

The nostalgia googles people have for Battlefield games is partially why EA thought they could get away with releasing something like 2042…5 had legitimate problems ( which still haunt the game) but they did major improvements before they canceled content for it. Alot of people seem late to the title so yea it’s refined now.
What nostalgia? Tell me that BF2 isnt the best BF game up to this day.
The reloading stations for vehicles like tanks and plains in bf5 was more fun than having unlimited ammo and the explosions animation
@@JV-hr6ss it's okay to disagree but that how you balance a game by giving limited ammo , cause for reload they have to head back to the base and not just wait in the sky to reload , for me bf5's feature to reload on specific spots made it much better experience than other battlefield games
The hard-core community has a big heart so it will never die but we'll have to see what they come up with next
i feel you on everything you’ve said. i also have to rely on my imagination to enjoy this as a ww2 game. i really wish that it went on a proper direction in terms of the historical accuracy
If you want a realistic ww2 game then play post scriptum or hell let loose lol Battlefield is not made to be realistic it's an arcade game
@@johnbridger1403 well i’m sure as hardcore battlefield fans we just really appreciate the core mechanics mixed with the historical settings. those games you’ve named can be too realistic where you can’t be as laid back as much like in battlefield
Huh? BFV wasn't a return to its roots, it was an 'upgrade' of BF1, a Battlefront knock off. That's not to say those games weren't great--I played more BF1 than I did BF3 or 4 combined--but it wasn't Battlefield. It was Battlefront reskinned.
Bad Company or bust!
@@randytrashcan i didn’t say bfv returned to its roots, i’m saying we like battlefield for its roots lol
BF5 is underrated af! There's a reason the player count is back up. WW2 is also the ideal setting for a battlefield game.
they messed up the bf5 launch with politics.
I did not know such details exist in Battlefield 5, it's disappointing to see how Battlefield 2042 went for less detail instead of more. Thanks for taking the time to point them out. If I were to choose between one or the other, I would go for Battlefield 5.
I’m fairly new to the Battlefield franchise and absolutely love it! Haven’t played 2042, by the sounds of it I shouldn’t
Yeah seriously don't play battlefield 2042. Play 5 and below, 4 will always be the best one but battlefield 1 and 5 they're just beautiful

@@roskcity dude once you get the hang of the game it becomes fun. I remember getting my ass whooped I almost quit bf4. I just kept playing and I got good and it was amazing. Never touched cod for a good year 😂
Stick to literally any other BF game, because those games were all developed with love and care, 2042 was just a cheap Warzone mix-and-match thingy that isn't Battlefield.
@@Twentiethrogue i think 1 is the best with 5 then 4 but I've played the 3 equally
Nah, the problem with 2042 its poor general decisions, that cant be fixed, like all the operators thing
@@podrepodrinho5592 the operators are fine stop crying none of the them are game breaking.

bf shouldn’t be no god damn hero shooter
I'm glad Battlefield V got the love it deserved
You forgot to compare the animations like when getting in a vehicle. There’s a huge difference. These animations are on BF1 as well as on BFV and they’re super immersive.
I noticed that too, didn’t realize bf5 had that until I saw this video, the older games never did
Thanks for this! Just goes to show you that EA/DICE didn't care not one bit during development.
It’s truly incredible how many steps back 2042 has taken
To be honest knowing what I know now I would've happily welcomed a complete overhaul and re-release of BFV. Make it 40v40 beef up everything graphically textures the whole nine yards. Add stuff to the game you wish you could but couldn't because of time or tech constraints. then been given this hot shit sandwich we ended up with in BF2042
Honestly they should do the complete overhaul and re-release if 2042. That way the game could be improved and balanced. The devs could upgrade everything, including graphics and textures, as well as gameplay.
@@devinsethna1287 I agree but there's no way they're going to do that.
I wish they added the Eastern Front.
@@xXxKAMIKAZExXx would of loved to see that.
I know that Battlefield V had a lot of problems but it was very, very detailed, even more than MW2019 in most aspects if you ask me

BF1 or 5 are not authentic or realistic in any way.
@@DurangoCzechoslovakia Hence why I used the word 'aesthetic?' No game is realistic in regards to game design or game mechanics, some try and some are closer than others, but ultimately there's no such thing, obviously. Now, once you watch the video, and then contextually understand my comment, you'd perhaps better understand that my comment is referring to the screams, dark aesthetic, mud splatters, and destruction compared to the comparatively tame BF4 and BF 2042.
Doesn't take a genius to work out what I'm saying, just someone with a little less belligerence than yourself.
@@mattgames7543 realistic was just a half of what I said, and you can't deny the second fact. Also, there are way better and more "realistic" WW2 games than this.
@@DurangoCzechoslovakia It doesn't matter that 'realistic' is only half of what you said, when you ignored the context of my comment in the first place. As I've already explained to you, I was talking about the aesthetic comparison between Battlefield games, specifically the overarching 'style' of BFV and BF1 compared to other BF titles, such as 4 and 2042. I didn't need to respond to the authentic part when your entire comment was irrelevant to the context of the conversation at hand.
0:16 to be fair someone didnt throw the grenade at you, as far as scripting goes I'm sure the panic dialogue gets triggered by enemy grenades
In Bf1 it triggers on all grenades so im sure its also in bf5
how did people hate BF5??? i never understood it, it was my overall favorite BF specfically for the PACE. tanks had weight and meaning, there was more than 1 per map and they were scary but slow. airplanes actually dogfought not just flying around waiting for a helicopter to spawn in for an easy kill. NO LOCK ON weapons. I swear man, modern games are not as fun as WWI-Vietnam era games
Tell me why Battlefield 2042 thinks water explosions sound like sand 0:39

This is exactly what i mentioned in a discussion with battlefield developers on twitter. This video just shows the evidence. Awesome work!
Had an eyepatch in the army you could use at shooting range, if you wish, on the not-aim-eye to keep it open but not distracting since for everyone it's simply not possible to shoot with both eyes open due to vison problems and if you spend few hours with one eye closed it affects balance etc
Looking back at Battlefield V: Perhaps we have treated you too harshly
If they really wanted to give their specialists more personality, they could have given them unique lines when in close proximity to a grenade. Or just more unique lines in general.
I swear BF 2042 has so many downgrades in terms of attention to detail
Battlefield 5 is a perfect example of why you don’t give your fans the middle finger. Why you can’t disrespect the very people who pay your bills. They destroyed one of my favorite games ever for what?
It’s better than 2042 by miles but yeah that sucked but it got to be a good game and I give them that
They should honestly leave BF2042 and go back to BFV
sometimes i just pray dice will go back to bfv and finish what they started bc its a great game and has so much potential, and way more fun than bf2042
hard agree
The movements and overall gaming experience and effects in Bf5 is🔥🔥🔥 should've put the same into 2042
There will never be a game like bf1 so perfect, even every single bgm in it. Attention to detail at its finest.
because most talented artists from previous BF creators left the dice.
It takes a while to realise how static 2042 is, several steps backward from BF5 in every way and Bf5 is a good but not great BF game
Couldnt have phrased it any better, "static" is just the perfect Word, lifeless.
Battlefield 2042 has none of that it’s a real shame
Thank you dice for making this game. It ensures battlefield 1 servers will be populated at least until the next title comes out
You made a very good video it really shows me how the video gaming industry needs to completely overhaul how they make and update games it's absurd to me that the newest model of a thing (the game in this circumstance) would not retain what the oldest model had, to me for example it's like saying cars made in 2020 all have power windows standard and then now the 2022 model comes out and it's gone no explanation at all and the technology is actually more advanced but for some reason u can't make mud stick on you when you go prone from one game to another a newer game with better technology and it's dumb and this is stupid and it makes no sense and is completely illogical
Battlefield 3 has been my favorite fps game of all time. Idk why its so hard to make a good game anymore
I've always said. The voice acting in BFV was ELITE!!
They actually lit a man on fire and recorded his screams... I loved it
You could tell a lot of the development time with pre-2042 installments went into the art and technology.
I'm more and more convinced that 2042 is a reskinned BF4 build. It looks and feels so aged compared to BFV, it's so weird

Im sure when the next bf comes out 2042 will be a "under appreciated gem" lol

Awesome video. Not so awesome for BF 2042. But we knew it already.
Any explanation as to why the dramatic change? Perhaps this was overhauled to a whole new game engine and they didn’t have time to do that and add all of these details? There’s usually a lot more going on behind the scenes than we’re aware of.

What happened dice? Seriously why is 2042 so bad
The third person movement animations look so much better in bfV, 2042’s are so rigid and just look so much worse
