🦄Uniswap Recap & AMM Explanation🦄
Uniswap was founded in the fall of 2017 by mechanical engineer Hayden Adams. Uniswap is a proof of concept for an on chain automated market maker protocol detailed by Vitalik Buterin.
In contrast to the order books you see on centralized exchanges, automated market makers or AMMs determine the price of a cryptocurrency based on the ratio of two cryptocurrencies within a pool.
🥃Liquidity & Impermanent Loss🥃
If you’re wondering where all the crypto in these AMM pools comes from, the answer is liquidity providers AKA LPs.
LPs provide the appropriate ratio of both assets to an AMM pool to receive a cut of the trading fees taking place in that pool as a reward for doing so.
The difference in profits between providing liquidity and simplifying holding the cryptocurrency involved is called “impermanent loss”. This loss becomes permanent if funds are withdrawn.
💱LP Tokens & DeFi Composability💱
Whenever an LP provides two cryptocurrencies as liquidity to an AMM pool, they are given a corresponding amount of ERC-20 LP tokens which can be used to redeem the liquidity.
These LP tokens are one of the backbones of DeFi as they can be used in other protocols and dApps to lend, borrow, and earn rewards.
👨🏫Uniswap V3 Explained👨🏫
Uniswap V3 has been in the works since last spring, and The details for Uniswap V3 were officially revealed on March 23rd.
The reception was mixed given it does not do much to address Ethereum’s high gas fees. It will be launching on Ethereum on May 5th and on the Optimism scaling solution in the summer.
🧪Concentrated Liquidity🧪
Concentrated liquidity completely redesigns the way LPs can provide liquidity for AMM pools on Uniswap by letting them choose which price range they want to provide liquidity for.
🤑Capital Efficiency 🤑
As a consequence of concentrated liquidity, liquidity providers can earn up to 4000x more in trading fees for providing liquidity.
👀LP Risks & Features👀
Another byproduct of being able to provide concentrated liquidity in V3 is an increase in impermanent loss, and the risk that your liquidity will be made inactive.
Also, since it won’t be possible for a single ERC-20 LP token to represent all these different concentrated liquidity positions, LPs on Uniswap V3 will receive NFT tokens that represent that liquidity.
⚖Uniswap License⚖
Uniswap V3’s code will require a license to use for the first two years after it launches. This is to prevent the project from being forked by other developers in the space, which has happened many times.
💸UNI Token Analysis💸
At first glance the UNI token seems overvalued relative to the total value locked in Uniswap. However, UNI tokens are able to vote to claim a portion of all trading fees on the DEX, which could provide them with lucrative passive income. This seems to have been priced in.

The gas fees problem is solved with Wanchain xchain and wanswap Defi app. Have you had a look into that yet? It really is impressive plus they have just announced a huge partnership with the 3rd largest company in the world. Can't understand why all the big you tubers are sleeping on Wanchain?

I'm finding more and more parables with short gamma strategies with the new Uniswap V3
viz. Ability to choose a range, impermanent loss increasing with the price going outside that range is very akin to gamma loss in short options strats, the possibility of more consistent profits but huge losses once in a while.
All of these are characteristics of theta gang trades in stock markets. I think Uniswap V3 will attract a lot of the same minds that do theta in current stock markets

The technology for a lot of the best and most promising alt coins is bleeding edge in both the financial and cryptography space. Don't feel bad at all for not understanding everything. Great video! Unfortunately, I'm certainly a less sophisticated user and have chosen the wrong price range multiple times across UNI/ETH & ETH/USDT pools. I feel the UI/UX of the V3 system is completely lacking for inexperienced users. With that, I certainly see the upsides of the V3 system and am super frustrated because I want to get it right. However, I'm also now very hesitant about taking another risk and entering a pool incorrectly again as the fees without gains are killer. It's just not intuitive, and I don't know where to start.

Bancor Network allows for single-sided LP with Loss Impermanence Protection. You can simply set and forget and gain mostly fees from the opposite end of a pool that you are in (IE. Add liquidity for Aave/BNT with just Aave, your rewards are mostly in BNT and some Aave.). Without the risk of Loss Impermanence, staking in Bancor is essentially a high yield savings account, minus the gas to provide/withdrawal liquidity). Obv not financial advice, but I highly suggest looking into it.
Uni gas fees are still going to be too high for most day traders looking to just spend $100 on a shitcoin even with V3

Yeah your right that's why most people have fled it and ran over to the bsc network. However bsc fees have been going parabolic recently. I have stop using it for this reason now I'm using the Solana and Avalanche networks

With these gas fees I’m going to go out of the ETH soon. It’s getting crazy. Many times it’s bigger than the amount if you play with small amounts. Why don’t they make it be some percentage of the value of the coin you use?

I recently added liquidity for a WETH-AMP pool in V3. I set my price range to 40k-60k. Even though, the current price is still within my range (by small margin), uniswap says I’m out of range and not receiving rewards.
Do you know if they set a price for the whole day at the beginning of the day?
