I was 18 in 1991!!!! 😫😖 This is awesome. I was a skater/surfer girl. I’m a 3rd gen South Florida native born. Thanks for sharing this. Brings back the great vibes! 🤙🏻✌🏽
Ahhhhh yes I do remember these years of skating. Little or no protection yet I don’t recall any of my group ever getting seriously hurt. Anyway, thanks so much for posting.
I watched both videos and brings back so many memories. We had skate demos too and of course the cops spoiled the fun. One thing I did take notice is the support from your parents. My mom was financially supportive to a degree, but to sit 30 minutes to an hour for a demo? No way! My dad did a little more filmed us, provided transportation, sometimes kept security and police off our backs because he was a firefighter....
I got my first real board in 1978 from Val Surf on Ventura Blvd! We used to skate Parkman Jr High, Victory Hill, and the Wash behind my house. Lots of pools and other places. Takes me back!! Thank you!
Oh my gosh! I used to get my hair cut at that Shearcuts in the background! This is behind the McDonalds on Parthenia Street! No way, dude! Grew up Right By There!!! So kewl!!
I remember going there in 87 to watch the bones brigade skate a demo and guy Mariano was busting ho ho’s against Tommy G ! Your channel is rad ! Takes me back ! I skated with guy a bit back then , tripped when he got on Powell . When ever I visit the valley I always stop at Val Sirf north Hollywood. It’s a staple !
Wouldn't be able to determine the year if it wasn't in the title. Early grabs and big jump ramps suggest mid '80s. Shaped boards, skate zone shirt and short shorts look 1987. Rudy Johnson lookalike trying bluntslide transfers is clearly post Video Days (1991). Also, time traveling rollerblader and XXL shirt/puffy shoes guy from the future.
went to the shop today and showed the owner the footage and he said he built those ramps and he actually recognized some of the people in this video said he's 55 years old so that would've made him about 24 in this video.
YES!! bought my first pro board from there... Santa cruz slasher. I need to include this place in one of my upcoming valley videos. I need to find some photos
@@80sLife i grew up in the valley in Reseda in the 80s and left in 95. I remember all this stuff. But i also remember all the gangs and problems. My mom is a valley girl and said it started getting bad in the 80s. Bussing in kids from l.a.and immigration caused issues. But still some great times

That's awesome. I need to get over there and chat with him one day
Mom's are the best lol ❤ my favorite part of the whole video hands down !
Yeah big ups to mom for sure! My mom NEVER would have done this for me
That's just sad when the only one ripping is the rollerblader. This is painful.
Pure gold 👍👍👍👍👍
Just think 30 years ago the US had 100 million less people

You should see it now. It’s one big shantytown. Homeless encampments. Hopefully you were smart enough to leave California
I made a mistake in my previous comment...The barber shop..Steve is the best barber in the Valley....
Maybe I'll give him a try.
Do you remeber any standout kids from these videos? Love this stuff.
There were a few kids from that day that stayed in my memories, yes.
YAY ROLLERBLADES!
