You said "this is a change" but actually each Abba song is unique and has a style of its own, influenced by different genres. This song is one of Abba's best known and rightly so. I can't believe you hadn't heard it before! It really was a massive hit in most territories.

I’m LOVING your ABBA journey. Although it won’t scratch the surface:
    1) Super Trooper 2) If It Wasn’t For The Nights 3) The Visitors 4) Move On 5) The Piper
Best start with album 1 and come forward!! 💚

    • @masseysmaineentertainment

Super Trooper is my next song. I guess as an 11 year old kid - I was stuck on pop music and a little new wave. I should have kept my head up for bands like ABBA.

Knowing Me Knowing You is fantastic. Angeleyes has awesome harmonies in the chorus. Move On has a great message for our journey through life. It's difficult to pinpoint any one song. Put On Your White Sombrero and Cassandra are very good. Oh, and Agnetha sings another break up song on the Arrival album called My Love My Life. I kind of envy you discovering ABBA'S music for the first time, but then again I've been enjoying it since 1974. Have a nice journey.

"The winner takes it all" (1980)
is Their most saddest song, it's a heartbroken song, although at the same time it is a beauty of music and song, with a raw but excellent lyrics, it's a Masterpiece
the blonde singer Agnetha has said in other interviews that She likes to sing melancholic or sad songs, because She can act and interpret the feeling of the lyrics.
that's what She does here, in this song; the lyrics are not about the reality of Her marriage and divorce with guitarist Björn (although it can include part and was inspired by), She acts interprets and sings, it is Flawless Unmatched and Unforgettable
Agnetha and Björn separate at the end of 1978 with two small children; the legal divorce occurs in the middle of 1980, a year and a half later; and that's when Björn writes the lyrics, on a melody that the pianist Benny had already elaborated, and Björn himself makes a demo with his voice
"The winner takes it all" was voted the best ABBA song by British fans between Their 25 singles edit in UK
it is also the favorite song of both: Agnetha and Björn
For a next reaction I suggest their First worldwide hit:
    "Waterloo" (1974)
    but Not the Official Video
(it's good and now in 4K Quality)
it's better to see and react the live perfomance at the famous Eurovisión Song Contest, when ABBA win with these iconic song and begin your worldwide career:

A four chord structured masterpiece !
(Think there are a few more linked chords but i just love this song) Probably eight in total but i’m no expert. Abba fan since 1975.
Vocals superb. Lyrical gem even though it’s very sad. Think they said they liked it as they said it was a “complete song”

As far as I know I've got all 110 ABBA songs (not including the new releases or non-English). All their songs are good with many great and most lesser known. Jeez where to begin... "My Love My Life" (beautiful) "Lovers (Live A Little Longer)" (hard beat) "Summer Night City" (live especially) "I Am The City" (positive energy) "Lay All Your Love On Me" (so cool) "My Mama Said" (funky) "Put On Your White Sombrero" (awesome harmonies) "Two For The Price Of One" (more awesome harmonies) "Hey Hey Helen" (poignant) and "On and On and On" (fun)... I mean really on and on and on with ABBA. Have fun!

This was written by Agnetha's ex husband Bjorn right after their divorce and he asked her to sing. So it was a really emotional and hard piece for her. Bjorn commented in his interview during a scandinaivan talk show in 2014, that more than hard, it was also a cleansing of emotions for both.

Abba off the beaten path: Try "So Long" (glam rock, 1975), "Move On" (*one of their most beautiful melodies 1978), "Hole In Your Soul (rock opera1978), "Eagle"(prog rock, long version 1978), "That's Me (pop 1976), "If It Wasn't For The Nights" (disco, 1979), "The Visitors (new wave pop/rock 1981).

Great reaction! Actually, this is one of their more famous songs. I think it was number one on the UK charts. Of ABBA's all 108 songs this is my number one favourite song by them. This is a very emotional song. So I suggest that you look at the the official video on TH-cam by yourself some time since you can't post it here on your TH-cam channel. In the official video Agnetha really manages to convey those strong emotions.
The angelic voice of Agnetha gives me the chills in this song, especially those long notes. It has always bothered me that both her and Frida got overlooked by so many when talking about the greatest female vocalists of all time.
Here are a few lesser known songs:
Dance(While The Music Still Goes On) - Waterloo Album, 1974
I Let The Music Speak - The Visitors Album, 1981
Lay All Your Love On Me - Super Trouper Album, 1980
Move On - The Album, 1977
Hole In Your Soul - The Album, 1977
Disillusion - Ring Ring Album, 1973
My Love, My Life - Arrival Album, 1976
Tropical Loveland - ABBA Album, 1975
    That's Me - Arrival Album, 1976
As Good As New - Voulez-Vous Album, 1979
This is only 10 songs because there are a lot more great lesser known songs by ABBA I could add to this list, but 10 songs is a good start I think. Hope you find them great.

I would honestly struggle to narrow down my top ABBA songs to just 5. Here are a few of my favourites, one or two I would say are not their big hits but I think are fab (album name): My Love My Life (Arrival), I Wonder (ABBA The Album), The Piper (Super Trouoer), Gimme Gimme Gimme (Voulez Vous), Voulez Vous (album title track). That’s just a sample of my favourites.

As an ABBA-fan since the 70`s, I could never put together a list of just five favorite Abba-songs. But this one, The day before you came and Eagle would definitely be up there. I love the whole discography, really.
At some point during your Abba journey, if you are interested, I would recommend for you to check one of the documentaries about them as individual artist, who they were before and at the beginning of Abba. It tells a little bit about all the things that influenced them as musicians and contributed to what later would be known as "the Abba -sound".
I would love to hear your thoughts about it.

I grew up in a household with my 52 year old grandmother - how much ABBA you think she was spinning? I bought my first vinyl record in 1980 and it was Rolling Stones Tattoo You - other than that K-tel records - which was all watered down pop and new wave. When you are a poor white kid living in SW Virginia - you listen to what you can.
