Lovely video and playing. I have one like the one you are playing and it's got November 1956 stamped on the bass Reed blocks. Also the Reeds appear to be coated in a bronze paint. Thanks again for a lovely video.
Thank you. Interesting about your 1956 stamp - the older accordion has 1873 stamped on it's blocks but that isn't a date... I can't find a table of Hohner serial numbers and dates but you can get a certificate from hohner if you pay 30 euros. I've seen an Atlantic with those coated reeds once, they look very nice but I don't know what it's for. I just got a message on Facebook sugesting that the Atlantic changed from wood to metal in the late 50's so that fits!

The Musette is a beautiful slohhhw so actually very unwet!
I have tuned my Hohner Corso to a very slow Musette so it sounds like somebody singing.
Bit like yours.
I have an Atlantic 4 deluxe.
The musette beats to fast but I have Dirks Tuner and hearing yours, you have inspired me so much.
I have never seen a grill like that on an Atlantic 4.

Hi Peter - Yes I tuned it so I'll take that as a compliment - thanks. I just checked my notes and I spent over 6 hours tuning!

It takes me a bit longer than six hours as I have only just started learning to tune.
At a guess( and I would really like to know). Hohners are normally wet tuned we are told with -20M M M+20 gradually increasing in beats as the pitch gets higher.
At a guess you went for -15 and +15 increasing?
I love it .
You did a geat job.
I am not altogether in agreement with the beats increasing as the pitch gets higher.
I really like the slow warble like a singer

@@petercane6376 Hi - Here is my tuning chart - (the values I measured before I tuned it) The red circles are where the tuning was too far out, and crosses are reeds not working, so I do all those first and then tune by ear. It may have ended up about +/- 20 cents up to the middle of the keyboard tapering to about 12 cents at the top so wetter than we both thought....It is definitly the correct chart because the date matches. Okay, now, I saw you give a tiny finger tremolo at the end. (This is my day 2 on the accordion, and I'm checking out as many sites as I can for help.) I found myself trying a tremolo last night, and I was surprised that it actually worked. Is that a thing with accordions? Is it a reed you are jiggling or a tiny influence on the bellows, or what? SO much to learn. :)
