A little story: When Sri Lanka practicing on the day before the match against Scotland, the last match before quarter finals and Sangakkara had already 3 consecutive hudreds infront of his name, after finishing practices when all others going out of the ground, Sangakkara the Legend took another batting session. It was against SCOTLAND! But that level of commitment!! It along gives me goosebumps. What a personalty! What a Legend! He was Hungry for more!!

Always love to watch sanga batting. Still remember his last double hundred in my home town galle that he gifted to his big mate maiya.. i met him few times in galle.a great man i have lot of respect u sanga. Why Sanga is an ICC tournament great, esp in knockout matches, according to me:
(1) 2003 ICC World Cup Semifinal vs Aus: He stood there and scored 39* even when the rest of the team wilted under pressure, and SL had to bow out of the tournament.
(2) 2007 ICC World Cup Final vs Aus: Was the only SL player to score 50 at a strike rate of over 100, even when SL were chasing a mammoth target against the invincible Aussies. SL lost again, but Sanga won respect yet again.
(3) 2009 ICC World T20 Final vs Pak: 64* off 52 balls (highest scorer of the match) when rest of the batting collapsed. SL lost that tournament too, but Sanga didn't give up under pressure!
(4) 2011 ICC World Cup Final vs India: Scored 48 (2nd best score after Mahela), after team lost early wickets. Took responsibility as a captain, and a smiling face, even when the team lost the match.
(5) 2012 ICC World T20 Final vs West Indies: Scored 22 (3rd best) as team failed to win yet another ICC final, this time in front of home crowd.
(6) 2014 ICC World T20 Final vs India: SL FINALLY WON an ICC tournament after 18 years. Sanga scored 52 not out (highest of the innings) at 150 strike rate, in a tricky chase. Sanga was Man of the Match.
(7) 2015 ICC World Cup Quarter Final vs South Africa: Score 45 (highest score), taking team from 3 for 1 to 127 for 9, even when no batsman (besides Thirimanne) supported him. SL had to bow out in what would be the last limited-overs match for both Mahela and Sanga.
In short, he is perhaps the only player who fighted till the end for so long, regardless of the conditions, opposition and the result. And yes, he ensured SL WON a WORLD T20!
