These guys understand music. Whether it’s heavy or more melodic, it doesn’t matter. It’s next level music no other band can reproduce. I adore their heavy stuff but I’m thankful for every album we get from them. Most bands would have broken up by now.
Right, and the end of Sacrifice live is like nothing I’ve ever seen at a show, it’s unfathomably heavy 😂 They still drop the breakdown. And contrary to some whiners on Reddit (what else is new) they seem to have no problem embracing their old stuff too.
I mean it's not like their old songs disappeared off the face of the earth. Imagine writing the same songs, same style, same screams, same breakdown rhythms for decades. Shit gets old. Nothing wrong with growing up people...
@@spectre722 no, but they were very young when they were writing these older "heavier" songs. TDWP is still heavy. But some people think just cuz it's not open chugs anymore it's not metal. They've grown and matured and their music has evolved along with them. Everyone else who saw this got the point, so you must be brain dead.
Big fan of TDWP. That said, I haven't really connected with anything post Space EP. Bands evolve and TDWP shifted into as direction that I didn't resonate with. It doesn't mean that music is bad, and it doesn't mean I've dismissed their new stuff altogether. I still wish them the best.
They're still heavy in my opinion. The Color Decay was heavy in my opinion and a damn near perfect album but they've developed their sound so much since their first album. People fall in love with a particular sound from their favourite bands. Embrace the growth folks. Edit: I love Finn's content he's been up there for the past few years with Punk Rock NBA.
I was super obsessed with left for dead game when this album came out. Got to be honest. At the risk of sounding like a douche. I was so mad when I heard that album because I felt like I had been writing very similar music With a similar vision for a long time (in a garage band with undedicated members) and I felt like Vocalist perfected a sound that I had in mind.. Almost to the T. The vocals and the aesthetic were perfect. Someone gave me a burn cd specifically for me to check out and I threw it out the window of my car Driving down the road the first time I listen to it. All I did was bitch about it for like two weeks to my friends. Not to mention the vocalist style on stage, cut off Jean jacket, 50s style hair covered in tattoos ect. I was pretty young though and since then I’ve learned to just really appreciate the style and not worry so much about music in general but especially in the”original”. It’s not for me I suppose lol it’s not for most of us in fact. Originality is very uncommon. On a Philosophical level, it’s hard to argue that it truly exist. Just teenage BS on my part at the time. I stopped wearing my Jean jacket that had a massive patch on the back for the movie “ Night of the living dead“ because my friends were thinking it was influenced by the band. Moral of the story, a lot of us are stupid as hell as teenagers. Pretentious and we don’t understand how the world works until at least 25 lol
So here is my thing, its not that their music has changed and its terrible and not heavy, its the fact that their lyrics are not the same as they used to be, for instance the song they did way back "Big Wiggly Style" The lyrics have a really deep meaning to them "My regret is not writing more for you, Lord. As this ocean comes to be deeper our vessel becomes less stable. Look to the sky. Encourage the elements of God. rather than the jars that contain them. If only the ingredients of man were of such elements. If only." But in their newer songs i feel like they have kinda gone emo (no offense) Like in their newer songs "Exhibition" the lyrics just talk about how life sucks "It's so hard to recognize That these diamonds fail to glow Take pills to ease my mind As long as I don't feel alone In debt to become incomplete Step back 'til we hear the song repeat Watch as I become obsolete Step back and Welcome to the way down Keep on telling, selling me a way out Another offer of a faultless life now But I think I'll just keep it inside Stitch it up and wear it with pride (pride)" Look im cool with songs that are talking about how terrible life is, because sometimes it does suck, but i love it more when in that song they talk about a way out like For All Eternity's song "Vacant Room" "There must be more to this life of mine There is something deep inside That testifies of a greater kind I cannot simply reach out for something better I sit here incapable of such a feat, predetermined defeat Unable to see past these walls around me My mind, an empty room with no windows to see through Isolated from the truth, from the truth Do my eyes deceive me by what they have not seen? Freedom, the one desire that will never cease My heart It needs to change I need a change I need a change" Here it talks about our minds being a empty room being isolated from truth, but in the end they say "My Heart, It Needs to change' it leaves a positive message at the end
For me, it's not even about how heavy they are or aren't. I'm currently releasing a deathcore album, but my next project is a funky progressive rock thing. I just haven't liked anything from them since the first Zombie EP. It's just not for me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It's wild to me that as much music as they have made in as many different styles there isn't ANYTHING you like. You probably haven't listened to anything beyond the occasional single if there was legitimately nothing you liked
@@brendangibson8200 To be fair my preferences altered as I aged, naturally. Even if the following albums sounded exactly the same, it wouldn't have been what I was looking for at that time. But I read your comment and then did go skip through their albums. I downloaded Dead Throne when it came out, but remember not being into it. At this point, I'm getting the most enjoyment out of an entirely different style of music, so I'd have to go out of my way to sit and listen to TDWP's whole discography post-Zombie. I do still love riffs and breakdowns and screams and blast beats, that hasn't changed, but I spend more time listening to cute stuff. 😅
im with you in that i loved the first zombie ep, but i gave the space ep and the zombie II ep a LOT of attempts to listen to and i've warmed to them. but their recent 2 or 3 full albums are just..... well i cant get into them. at all. But im pleased to see that in live shows they proper mix it up and do a bit of everything, which is nice.

Since Chris left, the sound def changed. For me personally, I prefer the sound that Chris added to the band. I enjoyed his writing style more. Just had a diff energy, and overall feel. The branches above album and zombie ep will forever be in my top 10 fav albums of my entire life. Hands down. Much love for TDWP. I’ll always support them. No matter what changes are made
The band changed with Dead Throne. There was a noticeable lack of volume for the keyboards done by James with little variation from previous works, then led to the band kicking him out. Once the band kicked out James, the corruption of the world had successfully won. More booze, more cursing on stage, more tattoos and more Masonic symbolism in their presentation. Chris was still in the band during 8:18, however, the band was already not as heavy as they were in previous albums prior to Dead Throne and that lack of aggression made its way into the obnoxiously sad and overly electronically dark album that came after Dead Throne, which was 8:18.
@@AGuyUwUyeah man. I pretty much totally agree. I think my personal preferences lead me to like the zombie EP just a little bit better. I know that they also change producers on dead throne. "There must be more to this life of mine
