Literally divulging my age here, but as a 42 y/o all of these references have struck a special cord within me. It's so good! The Data East slate of game references alone like Kid Niki [Radical Ninja] and Karnov, two games I had and played into oblivion. Growing up my Mom tolerated my game culture but try as I might to get her to play with me she mostly wouldn't with exception of 2 games specifically, those being Karnov and Paper Boy. Completely different genres yet those are the ones she favored, and when you're young getting Mom to play video games with me were instantaneous memories being made to be reflected upon in later days for all time. Just one of many, many reasons why having an NES from 1985 onwards will always behold a special affinity no matter my age. :)
@@jayroi1814 NES was a console in which left an impression on many of us, some as early as your experience. I was fortunate enough to get one at or close to its release in 1985, when I'd have been only 3 years-old. The rest as they say is history.
@@frankf684 Nah, if anything I take that as a sign of solidarity for what our childhoods were like and how much of an impression this system was for us. It may sound naive but I just sort of naturally assume TH-cam as a whole or in the least the core of Jared's viewership skews younger so I pulled out the OG card, lol. From one to another... *tips hat*
Hope you continue this, I've been wanting to see a full playthrough since James and Mike did an edited one, years ago on Cinnemasacre. I wish they'd port it to SWITCH
Newgrounds was a daily routine for me, before YT got popular, i need to go back there at some point and indulge myself with the fanmade stuff like this.
You have NO IDEA how badly I wanted another TH-camr that I've been subscribed to to play this game. I got introduced to this fan game through FarFromSubtle and it was such a great homage. I'm sure you've recorded multiple episodes in advance but if you haven't, I do want to warn you that there is some major gore content in the back half of this game.
I remember those guys. I was actually the opposite - I got introduced to FarFromSubtle because I played Abobo's Big Adventure then looked for youtubers who had done playthroughs
Abobo's Big Adventure was like the one game on Newgrounds I saw being pretty popular to give a try when I was a kid, and thought it was pretty cool even if it was somewhat jank. The boxing/wrestling and Mega Man section of the game was where I kept getting stuck at all the time when playing it back then lol
This is such a classic. I remember playing this when I was on school computers like ten years ago and having a total blast. Makes me sad that the Flash era is gone.
I was there, Jerd, I was there one thousand and twenty two years ago, when the strenght of men rose and made this masterpiece. And it's just as crazy and funny as I remember it.
@@Riftweaver1981 The hell are you talking about? We've had only one zelda series recently and it was 5 episodes. Before that, it was nearly 4 months since we had a zelda series, and before that nearly a year. We don't have enough zelda in my opinion! Also, you don't have to watch it if you dont like it, watch someone else!
For an old fan game, the sprite work is incredible! I bet I would have loved this if I played it back in the 2000s. It would have been right up my alley. Sad you didn’t get the Scut Farkus reference. For anyone who doesn’t know, that’s the name of the bully from A Christmas Story.
Just some hints for you Jared Double Dragon level (first leve) has a secret climb in the right wall in the end of level before going to boss door. In the Urban Champion level let the guy hit you it's pretty hilarious and also you get achievement for it.
Kid Niki was called "The Wonderful Yanchamaru" in Japan so no, he wasn't Goku. Although his desgin on the arcade flyer was obviously based on him with the orange and blue outfit
6:12 The "Sticky Jones" dude is the first boss from the NES Kung Fu game and the "Navin Johnson" dude is the third boss from the same game. Don't know where the games came from though.
It's like if Duke Nukem was the basis for I Wanna Be The Guy instead of Megaman, an unapologetically strange mishmash of references for the sake of fun!
This is why I use the Logitech F gamepads, they have a button on them to swap the left analogue stick's inputs with the Dpad inputs which is great for games with problematic analogue stick support. (and for games that are just better to play with a Dpad but the game only supports analogue stick)
Not just any cat, the cat from Chrono Trigger.
Also, that wasn't "Swamp Thing" it was "The Amazon" from Pro Wrestling.
Coulda fooled me!
Scut Farkus is the bully from A Christmas Story.
He had yellow eyes! So help me God, yellow eyes!

Man, I remember when this came out. I miss the old internet.
6:14 Navin Johnson was the name of Steve Martin's character in the movie "The Jerk". According to the movie, "[he] was born a poor black child."
I thought so. I though bubba hanks was pretty obvious.

There's a lot of, "Yup, that just happened" in this video, and I'm here for it. 🤣
This is such a classic. I remember playing this when I was on school computers like ten years ago and having a total blast. Makes me sad that the Flash era is gone.
HTML5 was supposed to replace it, but there is no HTML5 renaissance like Flash brought about.
Nice! The guy at the end with the jet pack is The Amazon from Pro Wrestling.
Oh shiiiit man. I remember playing this back on armor games like, 15 years ago and getting in trouble because my parents thought it was too violent.
Finally, Jerd plays a good game.
Maybe one day we can get Abobo's SUPER Big Adventure.
You can't know how much I needed hilarious random craziness right now. Thank you so much, Jared ❤
This should be called "NES: The Game"
Oh hey my entire childhood mashed together in a blursed mess of magnificence. Excellent!
you know, that humor really is of it's time, but this still looks like they had a ton of fun making this game.
I remember playing this the second it arrived on NewGrounds!
.
God I love this game so much!
.
.
Shoutout to Rog from I-Mockery for such a great game.
I want to say that Naven Johnson was the name of Steve Martin's character in The Jerk
*YES!! This Game Rules!!* 💙
*Classic* ❤️
Love the blog ladies! Keep up the good work 💪
@@lorddreemurr THANK YOU! 💙
Flashbacks to the flash games I’ve played/watched others play in High School/College. I feel old. This is looking good already, can’t wait for more.
Yes! Play all of this, please! I remember seeing AVGN play this years ago and would love to see a full playthrough again!
No matter what we do we can never escape Zelda on this channel.
Zelda is INEVITABLE on this channel lol
I was there, Jerd, I was there one thousand and twenty two years ago, when the strenght of men rose and made this masterpiece. And it's just as crazy and funny as I remember it.
This was incredible, thank goodness there's a part two coming! I was worried the controller issues would resign this to "one-off" status
So glad Jared didn’t die on the first goomba.
It always happens to somebody.
One of my favorites I did on my own channel.
Finally, I had been posting comments on your videos for 2 years, at least for you to try this! Thanks, and enjoy!
Yes!! I was really hoping you'd do this one!
Man, this game's a good ol' classic. You know what else is a classic? Zelda classic (randomizer omega), which is what you should play next ;)
how about no, since we just got many episodes of zelda related stuff
@@Riftweaver1981 The hell are you talking about? We've had only one zelda series recently and it was 5 episodes. this was the golden age of the internet.
8:10 Goonies music!
FInally!!! Now you are up to a Flash CLASSIC!!!!
OMG i was about to ask you next time on twitch if you ever played that .This game was made for you! This video(s?) will be awesome!!!
holy shit I remember this game!!! I could've sworn in was older than 2012 though...
Hell yeah! It's Abobo's! This is a goddamn Newgrounds classic. Never beat it though.
Oh man, I haven't seen this one in ten years! This is gonna be a treat.
The merbobos made me bust out laughing. Wasn't expecting them to be used as a shield!
One of my favorites. Every stage is amazing
An under rated classic. Amazing to see it again, well done sir Jerd!
Can we all just admit that we as a species peaked in the mid 2000's.
We are still in the early 2000s bro
Oh, I remember when James and Mike played this lol. It's great!
I’ve always wanted to play this, but never did. Now I can laugh along with Jerd while HE plays it! Rad.
love the Ironsword music and Pro Wrestling Amazon at the end! lol
For an old fan game, the sprite work is incredible! I bet I would have loved this if I played it back in the 2000s. It would have been right up my alley.

This is the best insanity and I am here for it! Thank you so much for this.
I got all the achievements in that game back on newgrounds, including balloon jedi! I consider it one of my greatest gaming achievements.
"Dont google meatspin" Jared - 2024
I wasn't expecting an old flash game to be so well made
Wow, this game is so bonkers and so much fun to look at it. I legit laughed a few times at some of the gags 🤣
It's simply the best flash game of all time. Second to none. Zero competition.
I was just thinking about this game recently. It's so fun
One of the best flash games of all time.
@12:49 i really wanted to say batman for the nes, sounds a lot like it. But maybe it's a remix or something.
Still pushing for Jared to play Barkley Shut Up And Jam Gaiden so he can truly learn what it means to Chaos Dunk.
Looking forward to seeing you play the rest of this one
This game is basically mainlining 8 bit nostalgia.
If this be could injected into my veins as an I.V., yes please. My childhood meshed into one glorious amalgamation of awesomeness!!
I-mockery was/is great. Rog deserves much love for not only this game but everything on that site.
This is wild
Just some hints for you Jared Double Dragon level (first leve) has a secret climb in the right wall in the end of level before going to boss door.

I love this game. And I miss this style of humor. Pure, irreverent fun.
Oh hell yeah, man, this one's a classic
You're on for a ride! this game is crazy!
This looks absolutely bonkers. I love it!
That was the Amazon from NES Pro Wrestling at the end when you said Swamp Thing.
Freakin sharks with lasers. I miss this game, thanks for playing it
Man I used to play the hell out of this game, never beat it though so go luck Jared!
Haha. I can understand this reference 22:37 Had to call to Finnish Nintendo hotline back in the early 90's to understand wtf grumble grumble meant.
That's the villain from that wrestling game where (I think) the phrase "a winner is you" comes from
Shut your dirty mouth!!! The Amazon is no villain, though I was more partial to Starman.
Navin Johnson is the name of Steve Martin in the movie the Jerk
Love it when it’s weird and whacky stuff
God I remember this game. Back when I used to spend so much time on Newgrounds.
Almost beat this game until I got to the level with The Amazon from Pro Wrestling. Glad to see you playing it!
Kid Niki was called "The Wonderful Yanchamaru" in Japan so no, he wasn't Goku. Although his desgin on the arcade flyer was obviously based on him with the orange and blue outfit
I'm so glad your playing this if no one has ever seen it 😂 I seen avgn play this a long time ago and it is insane
I was there when Abobo ate his head, thought it was a candy.
Scut Farkus is the name of the big red haired bully from A Christmas Story.
I guess the old man is Super 3D Noahs Ark? This game is a riot, either way!
when the Old Man grew to huge proportions, it reminded me of Smash TV
This game is the reason why new grounds was the best part of the internet for a long time.
I love it when Jared tries to sound like he's not 40... "Keeping it real"
at least he didnt say 'lets go!' this time
I'm pretty sure 40 year olds came up with that phrase.
By the way, Jared, the music that plays when fighting Big Daddy is the boss battle music from _Batman Returns_ on the NES.
Aaaaaa this was wonderful... I miss i-Mockery. They did wonderful stuff..
RIght after finishing Ancient dungeon seeing Abobo in zelda-style give me a good laugh haha
This hack is hilarious. Can’t wait to see you finish it.
Not a hack. Free fan game.
That dungeon music is from The Goonies II!!!
I've never heard of this game before, and now I feel like I've been missing out lol.
This is possibly the most New Grounds game I've ever seen.
Instant click, TH-cam notifications are working. :)
Honestly surprised it took this long for this game to appear XD
6:12 The "Sticky Jones" dude is the first boss from the NES Kung Fu game and the "Navin Johnson" dude is the third boss from the same game. Don't know where the games came from though.
I played through this year's ago.. it was so great. I wish that it could be recoded and put into the app store or google play
dude I remember playing this back on newgrounds
gonna enjoy this series!
This game is so dumb that it is amazing. I'm SO glad you experienced it.
All i want is sharks with freakin laser beams on their head......oh this game has one? Riiigghhhht
