He is the ONLY Artist I would pay serious money to see. Hope this Damned Covid-19 clears up in the next year. I need me a Bruce fix, and I think he was just about to head out on another tour when the World shut down. I have a good 20 to 25 left in me, and I hope to heck I get to go to The Chapel of Bruce a couple more times. Cheers.
There is something about this song--and so many of Bruce's other songs--that just have some ineffable quality to them that I can only describe as truly and completely "human". He has a way of capturing the yearning, the sadness, the happiness, the doubt, and the joy that exists in human life in a way that is so incredible. What an amazing man. I am forever grateful.

Ah, I was upset that I missed Bruce Springsteen's Irish concerts this year. I thought his latest album was the best album of 2012! This is also a superb song. My day will come soon!
I have been to Kilkenny Ireland twice. I toured the castle. I wouldn't have thought that the town was big enough to handle a large Springsteen concert. Population of Kilkenny is only 24,000
Okay, sound it SOUNDS dead-on playing it like that (dropping that high E to D makes it ring out just right), but it still doesn't seem to match what he's playing. Look how he uses his ring finger to play the G notes on the low E string. It looks just like the shapes you'd use in the key of C. So, your version sounds perfect, but unless his chord shapes are different than mine, I can't figure out what the hell he's doing....
I always loved this song.. Greatest Hits version is better than the original recording, but THIS version is just classic. COME BACK TO ATLANTIC CITY! WE ARE ON THE BOARDWALK WAITING. :)

Couldn't agree more: greatest songwriter ever; there's Springy then everyone else.
His working class politics as well as his problems with depression always seemed obvious to me from his song writing.
As a Scotsman who saw him in 81 I’ve been on a wonderful journey with the man and his music.... genuine hero and fantastic man, never lets you down.
Springsteen’s music is from the loving spiritual centre of acoustic experimentation. Even this simple heartfelt piece is oddly tuned
