I really don’t think people should be so surprised, Dubois has boxed at a higher calibre of opponent then Joshua for awhile now and gave Usyk a better challenge than Joshua did imo.
@@bradgibbs3570 my thinking too. I made some easy money in dubois there. After his hrgovic performance and AJs recent opponents I could only see it going one way
You called the fight accurately on The Pain Game. The fight was definitely more even than many people thought, myself included. Power and strength of schedule play a massive factor in fights and Dan was able to put on the performance of a lifetime because of those things.
Joshua is a good boxer going forward but he's useless on the back foot. D Dub's strategy was perfect, just come at him fast and aggressively from the start and get inside. It was like watching a young Mike Tyson. Congratulations to him.
I would call it “anxiety” vs “confidence”. Over-thinkers do it for a reason. They are afraid so need to think it over million times to feel safe. DDD didn’t have those doubts.
There are two types of fighters, those that learn from their losses and get better, and those who never learn. Dubois looked in peak form and better than he ever has. That shows a lot of maturity that hes still able to learn and progress. Gotta be honest I did not see him winning.
After I watched the fight, I watched most of the reactions and watch alongs'. I saw True Geordies and You were the only person who seemed to know what they were analysing. Well done and what an amazing fight.
The whole boxing community needs to put more respect on Wladimir Klitschko's name. They're now seeing how hard it is to be champion for so long and he never got the credit he deserved. He let AJ off the hook too and without that his career would never have taken off like it did.
Wlad had the drug testers and the referees in his back pocket. He was a weasle and a bully. He performed admirably against AJ considering he was 40 + and inactive but the cheating and corruption in the Povetkin fight alone ruins his credibility.
I have to say mate you said something on the Pain game production after the fight which struck a cord with me. "It's not a shock, we have been so starved of 50/50 fights that when we finally do get them someone will get beat and it seems shocking" something along those lines and it is so spot on! So many fighters these days have padded resumes and it shows when they come up against some real adversity like AJ did with Dubois. Hats off to you for bringing that up!

With all the constructive criticisms that I've had for boxing over the years, I've never thought of having commentary options for pay per view watchers. What a cool idea!
I think this again shows that activity is very important look at the development Dubois has gone through and he's had 4 fights in 18 months. I think it could be a smart move to fight Parker and then the winner of Usyk vs Fury. Keeping up the activity will be useful against guys who fight once a year, especially against a great experienced boxer with a unique style. Interesting fact James Braddock was considered retired in the 1930s because he didn't fight for 9 months, they thought he'd never be able to compete at a top level again because of that extended time off.
Don’t forget either, that last right hand Daniel threw was a one punch knockout. He fought brilliantly. He handled the occasion like it was nothing. His tunnel vision must be incredible.
Your ending comments were so true, I'm so glad it's happening and hope it continues to happen. Rocky Marciano is the only Heavyweight world title holder ever to retire undefeated (and that's because he'd beaten every top ranked heavyweight and wanted to spend time with his daughter). We were getting close to the point were we could have had 2 or 3 retie undefeated in a single era. Which would have really shown how bad heavyweight boxing had gotten with avoiding fights, luckily that has been avoided.
@@augustuspatrone6790 I mean seen as Ali specifically said the only person he couldn't beat is Rocky Marciano is probably not a great example to use. And Lewis's era which isn't a thing if you mean 90s in which the transition to 12 rounds meant people in their 40s could still compete at the top level. Compared to an era where if you did not have stamina for 15 rounds, you would lose, it is incomparable. Marciano hit so hard they had to change the springiness of boxing rings to the level they are now, because people were wacking their heads off the deck so hard he paralysed one of them. When Lewis was fighting there were a lot of successful inside and pressure boxers. So I think the best inside boxer the world has ever seen is probably going to do well. If you comment about the weight well all he'd have to do is drop from running over a half marathon a day in training to 10 miles a day everyday, which would over double that of any modern boxer who do 6 miles 3/4 times a week. And he'd weigh around 220lbs with the extra calories not burned.
I've notice Dubois team always come in with great gameplans going for the body against Usyk was the best chance, here constant pressure never letting AJ get settled. Using Hrgovic poor stamina to gas him out for the 8th round stoppage.
