    Thanks for visiting the #ButteWMM! I was a mine tour guide there for a couple of years, and now do some work with them for their social media! I HIGHLY recommend doing the mine tour next time you visit, it's a "blast"! ;)

    I’m hooked on the video simply because well for two reasons I like the place you travel to, but the most important reason I love your diet the donuts and strawberry chocolate milk takes the prize so far lol have fun safe travels.

    Sydnie, That job at the time working in confined places was no joke, thanks to the men that still do that type of work, plus being brought up like sardines packed in a can, nope nope. That old town sure is full of a lot forgotten history. Thanks for Sharing

    I think it's great that you love working with metal. I was a Tool & Die Maker for much of my early working life. I worked with a lot of metal in a machine shop. That circular sink with the soap dispenser in the center in that dry room brought back a lot of memories. We had one and we'd crowd around the sink, step on the foot pedal that released the water, and wash up at the end of our shift. I was a history major in college so this was an episode that I especially enjoyed. Thanks for sharing.

    Nice job Sydnie. That was an interesting video to watch history on display in such a short tour of a mining camp. Glad that you took the time to make this one. Your editing work is wonderful and doesn't go unnoticed. Don't worry about not responding to my comments, I know you like reading them because I'm not a cyber bully. 😊

    Copper is the main product of Butte now. I got to Butte about 3 times a year for work. It was nice to see where I go on the "richest hill" on earth. With that said, all the times I have been there, I have never been to the Museum. I'm going now!

    That toxic mine/pit, is that the one that has a fish and wildlife technician guarding the edge of it for migratory birds? There is one in the that area (if I remember correctly) who has a technician that sits at the entrance of the pit with a rifle to scare them off so they dont get sick or killed from the toxxic water. Also, pretty funny watch you "geek out" over your old profession.

    I would have never pictured you for mining. I admit I forget that is still an occupation in some areas. Missouri was never a major mining state even though we did have what was considered "dirty coal". It was fun watching you relive part of your life which you enjoyed at least the welding part of it. Once you are ready to settle back down, you can get back into welding and go to trade school for it. The only thing I would have wanted to know is where the ore was shipped to once it was dug up. Butte was a very prosperous town back then and glad it still exist since many of those mining towns become ghost towns.
    As for responding to comments, take your time. I know you mentioned in one of my responses that you are only one week ahead unless you were able to get further recently. Now I know what you do with the pics you take since you uploaded them to Instagram. It wouldn't surprise me you got over 200 pictures to upload.

    I would recommend looking up the youtube channel Ghost Town Living if you enjoy mining history. That's mainly about the Cerro Gordo ghost town and everything that happened with that mine and town in the 1800s. He also hikes around to other smaller mines.

      @@minelifemediallc ACTUALLY I found a list of 21 minerals that were mined in the Butte area.. feel free to look it up and post all 21 minerals … if you’re gonna correct someone do it properly.

      @@guaporeturns9472 I was only listing the major ones lol just was saying more than copper! Copper gets all the love but Butte mines supplied a lot of different commodities!
      And if I was ACTUALLY correcting, I would have answered the original question of what "mineral" was being mined in Butte, not "metal". But there were so many different ore minerals!

      I grew up in Boulder. Butte was the big city we shopped in. When I was 7, in 1975, I saw a huge man beat and kick a chinese guy almost to death. Kicked him unconscious for minutes while the crowd cheered him. Apparently pretty common then. To say Butte has gone downhill forgets that it's always been rough. After that beating, my parents preferred to shop in Helena

    • @ribo451
      @ribo451 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The mine's isolation from the rest of the hill prompted the name of the Orphan Girl, affectionately nicknamed “Orphan Annie” or “the Girl.” An adjacent shaft was named the Orphan Boy to give her some company.
