I am amused that both my nose and eyeballs have been attacked this morning by this ink 😂 Its honestly not a colour I would have looked twice at, much too fluorescent, but it is fun, and unlike anything we've gotten from the calander yet, so now that the smell has dissipated and my eyes adjusted, I can say it's been fun 😅
Fruit cocktail is exactly what you said, those small fruit cups with diced up fruit in syrup. They also come in tins, and are quite often a starter or dessert for children at Christmas.
I know I am in the minority here but I kinda like it. The colour looks good and the smell is nice (imo). My only concerns are how scented inks hold up on paper (too wet, feathering, etc.) and how the ink will hold up over time (will it go 'rotten' after sitting a few years?).
All great questions! I find that scented inks are the worst behaved on most papers, but thicker GSM seems to do okay with them mostly. I haven't had a scented ink go rotten yet so that's a positive!
i think this colour looks very similar to peach haze by diamine, if you're interested in the colour ^^ im honestly so curious to try this one because i'm kind of a fan of the scented inks, especially if they arent feathering even in heavier swatches💭
I haven't tried peach haze by diamine but it sounds like they would match haha. I am really surprised at how this year's scented inks are behaving. They are doing so well!
It smells like soap to me but the color is unexpected and fun. Winter where I live is citrus season. I’ll send my friends in snowy places mail art using this color.
I think the color is beautiful. It's definitely unique in my collection. I smelled it in the bottle and I find it pleasant despite my sensitivity to scents. I think you smelled it more because you were using a dip pen. I doubt you'd notice the scent much if at all if it was in a pen. Sorry you didn't love this one.
I did not like this ink but I liked that it was very wet so I added some to Marley for a swatch and got a new color. It made Marley a little more pink and not so dry.
I quite like the smell, although I wish they didn't include two sweet scents. A spice, something herbal, something grassy - there are so many options beside fruity scents. The ink feathers horribly for me, which I'm a little sad about as I was really impressed with how well Forest Gateau behaved so I thought maybe they finally cracked the code to a well-behaved scented ink haha
This ink looks super juicy... and while I love a wet ink, I think this is definitely one of those inks that is a miss for me. When I saw the name I hoped for a deep dark pink, but I guess that would have been too close to Forest Gateau.
I think it would be a bit better if it was a bit more "peachy" or had some red shading, but I think the scented ink formulas are a bit different and don't have great shading.
Your intuition was spot on. This is by far the worst ink in the calendar. On TRP it feathered so bad for me. It's too neon to write with for me. I tried mixing this with other inks (once mixed, I didn't smell it anymore) and that is basically all I will use it for. It surprised me that it didn't feather for you.
Man my meditation practices must be paying off! hahaha I'm surprised it didn't feather too! I'm glad it didn't though. Good to know the smell goes down with mixing. It is really neon...
I didn't get fruit cups, it reminded me of the dolls you could get in the seventies and early eighties that smelled like this.. it's an incredibly fake fruit smell. Not going to try it since my pen still smells like cherries from the other ink, which I liked! Lol
For me this was the very worst ink in the calendar, as someone who doesn’t like perfumes, strong smelling flowers or the scent of the vast majority of artificial flavoring, this one made me feel sick right away. Since none of my friends are into fountain pens I just threw it away. And honestly, it actually felt a little liberating to decide that I didn’t HAVE to keep and store it just because it’s a fountain pen ink and I generally love inks. This one just wasn’t for me, and that’s alright; I absolutely love the vast majority of this invent’s colors :)
I have really been loving your daily reviews by the way! I spoiled myself and swatched all the colors as soon as it arrived and it is a lot of fun to revisit one color a day along with you :) (and every day I’m more grateful that I didn’t go for the color verse one)
I have thrown away inks too haha. It is very liberating :) I'm glad you're enjoying Inkmas!! I think the Colorverse calendar would be great for a beginner collector but for those like us with 100+ it is a bit meh.
It‘s to bright for me. I simply don‘t enjoy to read such bright inks, so I guess I will not use it. The smell reminds me of the bath bombs my daughter uses. So of cause she liked this sweet smell. 😊
I really hated this one. Neon orange like a bad highlighter. And I just dont understand scented inks. That's two super bright highlighter inks so far that I wish Diamine would have just kept.

Hahahah not the attack on the nose and eyes! 😂😂 It is a fun ink and very bright.

I used to eat them all the time when I was a little girl. I think the smell is really close.

Thanks for describing the scent- I will pass on this one (nice color though!)

How fun that you have citrus this time of year!

It is a fun orange! I'm going to try mixing it to see if the smell will be better for me.

Oooo that is a great mix! I bet it is beautiful!

You are so right about the scents! It would be fun to get a peppermint one. I think that would be perfect for a holiday calendar.
Who are scented inks for?? Who asked for them?? 😅😅😅
lol, yeah it is a bit odd! 😅
I would love to know the answer to this haha. I think it is a fun concept but I don't know many people who like them!
This ink looks super juicy... and while I love a wet ink, I think this is definitely one of those inks that is a miss for me. When I saw the name I hoped for a deep dark pink, but I guess that would have been too close to Forest Gateau.

This is a really cute color! At least I think so!
Ancient Song - Moon of the West River
Deatramentis - Mahatma Gandhi
It is a fun orange, and very bright! I think it would be great for summer time.

@ yeah definitely neon. Lol keep that meditation practice going. I need to get better.
Christmas is fast approaching
It is!! Merry Christmas!
Just wait until you have a cold and you can't smell it.
Great idea!! hahaha
I didn't get fruit cups, it reminded me of the dolls you could get in the seventies and early eighties that smelled like this.. it's an incredibly fake fruit smell. Not going to try it since my pen still smells like cherries from the other ink, which I liked! Lol
Oh goodness! What a scent! haha
No indeed
Like the color/ bright and happy. Never liked those fruit cocktail cups so this is a hard pass,

I didn’t mind the color, but the scent made me nauseous. I absolutely despise the scented inks.
I'm not a big fan of scented inks either. This one at least didn't give me a headache!
Scented is a no for me. It isn't a bad orange, and so many are dry to write with so bummer that the scent sounds overpowering. 😕
I don't find the scent overpowering and I'm very sensitive to scent and scents trigger migraines. I find it kind of pleasant actually
Others have mixed it with non-scented ink and have reported that the smell dissipates. It is a fun orange!
It‘s to bright for me. I simply don‘t enjoy to read such bright inks, so I guess I will not use it. The smell reminds me of the bath bombs my daughter uses. So of cause she liked this sweet smell. 😊
Your daughter and I use similar bath bombs haha. It does have a "bath bomb" smell :)
I really hated this one. Neon orange like a bad highlighter. And I just dont understand scented inks. That's two super bright highlighter inks so far that I wish Diamine would have just kept.
It is interesting we have 2 "highlighter" colors this year!
I was not a fan on this one at all.
It is an "aquired taste" I mean smell ;)
The colour is pretty amazing, but that smell is so bad!
Eww it was so stinky, I don't like scented inks!!
Yeah... the smell on this one is not for me haha
