Hello sir, if i may give you some advice on tactical movement in forests.
My experiences are from four years in the Royal Danish Army Home guard as a sergeant, 2½ years in the Royal Danish Army, MECHINF, Jutland Dragoon Regiment, deployment to Iraq, Basrah region, British sector and NRF 10 certified (NATO Response Force).
Forests were our domain, our playground, our turf.
1: ALWAYS move as if the enemy is right up ahead.
2: ALWAYS move FROM cover TO cover, in this case always move from and to a tree, stump, big rock, ditch etc, when ever any halt are made, no matter how short, you must ALWAYS be in cover.
For example dont stop between trees, stop AT the tree and always turn your front towards a suspected or located enemy.
3: Dont use a tarp when tactical camping, just lay in your sleeping bag with a cover on, use your ruck as a improvised fighting position/windblocker.
4: KEEP YOUR WEAPON CLOSER TO YOU, your weapon are too far away from you, and its BEHIND you, thats a no go sir, you have a sling on your weapon for a reason, use it.
5: The only reason a weapon cant tip over, is because you must NEVER stand it anywhere, if it tips over alot of things can be knocked off center, mag´s can get unclipped and the safety can move.
6: Please sir, make sure to check your safety, my eyes may fool me but im certain that i saw your weapon un-safe, on single shot, that is unsafe weapon handling and is NEVER tolerated.
7: If you cant use your compass at night without artificial light, you need another compass.
We had Silva´s and Suunto´s and those compass had fluorescent lights that you could "charge" with a flashlight before nightfall, othervise use the moon and stars.
PS, that is one massive bubble in that compass!
8: When sleeping tactical, you NEVER take off your boots, you just untighten the laces; soldiers with no boots on is like a pizza with no tomatosauce; you just dont do it.
9: When you have all of your gear on, ready to move out, then jump a few inches or so up, if your gear makes any sound AT ALL, fix it.
10: No loose straps, strings, un-buttoned pockets, stuff hanging outside your body, everything must be tight and "sharp".
11: Smoking, fire, hot meals, hot drinks are also a no-go, you get used to drinking cold chocolate and coffee after a week.
To sum it up, you have a very good idea of what to do and not to do and kudos for even trying going tactical, you are a person with a serious interest in the tactical, survival and bushcraft, and you have the right attitude towards the subjects.
Just consider the tips i gave you and you are even better equiped for various scenarios.
Take care, stay safe and the best to you sir.
    Brian.

If you are going to be seated a lot... Like in a vehicle, mounting your pistol holster above your waist has advantages. If you are mostly afoot or mounted on a horse the drop leg or belt level is going to be more ergonomic. Ultimately what will work best for any individual is what they have been trained to use. Since you asked,
things attached to legs like holsters and cargo pockets will wobble back and forth and make noise. Put insulation objects like gloves and hats in cargo pocket where you can benifit from cushion and insulation. Hard objects like mags and lights stowed in cargo pockets are self defeating. Noisey.
With a vest, I can only have access to printer when vest is on seems short sighted. And cumbersome.

Nice spot for concealment . Great video as always. All the twigs are great alarm whistles, if someone is trying to flank you. Somebody would have to really move slow to try not to give up their position. Try different ways with your printer, until you are confident where you place it is good for you. That is why we train and practice while there is somewhat less of a threat of shtf .

For your particular situation to run both a handgun and a couple of spare 556 mags I would recommend a light chest rig with 3 AR pouches with flaps. One pouch for the handgun and the other two for the two spare 556 mags. You can add three or 4 more 556 mags to your pack to have a minimal fighting load. If you’re not wounded or dead on first contact you will burn through 2 -3 mags just to break contact. Don’t skimp on ammo. Drop legs are a nuisance, as they catch on every thing and can cause discomfort on your leg and chaffing. Extra pistol mags can go in your smock. A simple Chest rig like from Condor or other China knock off will give you plenty of ventilation ( overheating is a threat all year ) and it will make for an easy on off. I would not recommend a vest. I usually run an Alice like LBE, using m56 H suspenders and a condor gun belt with molle pouches attached to it, to carry both fighting load and more sustainment items. And I have a plate carrier as well, but I have used the simple three 556 mag pouch chest rig for years for vehicle and for permisive scouts. I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Have you ever heard of a company called fire force gear? They make top notch gear here in the USA and they use actual marpat fabric not a knock off lol. The buttpack, triple mag, and pouches are excellent and match perfectly, they are a little pricey but worth it imo and they have several different camo patterns. 👍

Good exercise for testing gear. Great concealment location - make sure you can observe 360°. Looking forward to part 2!
A couple of things to consider:
    1. Look into an ASAT poncho for stagnant observation.
    2. That brand new jacket stuck out like a sore thumb, you may want to ditch the surplus gear for some Real Tree AT hunting camo for slow patrolling in that environment.
    3. A drop leg holster is going to eliminate the use of one cargo pocket and may interfere some with front pocket access on that side. It is also going to snag on nearly everything it touches in a woodland setting. Check out the safe life defense tactical belt to keep everything tight to your waist. It also has an inner belt for easy on/off so you can don your gear quickly if needed.
    4. it sucks to have to lay on gear between the 11 & 1 position for an extended period of time if you have to go prone. Chest rigs/vests are better suited for missions using cover w/o having to go prone.
    5. That pack looked better for long range extended patrols. Try a 72 hour pack, you can get more of the essentials (food, water, ammo, navigation, cover) in them than you think and they are much easier to maneuver in woodlands.

@@redfaux74 Seems to me that you are the one who is intense and defensive all over my comment on glossy buttons and now you are attacking me and making wild speculations about what snake would do in different situations. You need to calm down. And by the way, the ghillie suit has been replaced.

Great video! M.R.E. = My Real Enemy. Doesn't take much for tactical constipation ...
That's why pri 1 is breaking that MRE down to essential components, leaving the bad stuff at home base. Better yet, customized MRE components. Hot sauce never expires, a dab under each eye, great coffee substitute. Add hand/ toe warmers for the dark nights.
I like the observation regarding the cover = that hat shines. That specific sniper veil also very observable when worn that way.
IMO shovel is part of tactical kit. th-cam.com/video/VSmOxWPZV3c/w-d-xo.html don't leave home wo your SF digger. Small trowel ok, lets you practice alcohol fire and Dakota fire hole but prefer to practice with what really needs to be carried.
Also, seems solo tactical should be more like E&E methods.
Lots trees for OPFOR to take cover vs that AR. Level up to civvy .308 AR w can or otherwise. Higher end ammo converts all those trees from cover to concealment and can collect a greater range of game in a pinch. When you're on your own, you need to cover the DM role. Can is essential if thermal sights.
Best solo recon is FPV drone video. Amazon drone OK for general environment. Custom drone where elec warfare is present.
IMO drop holster, belt holsters, tac vest, shoulder holster not preferred. Try small of back carry for small printer and tactical fix blade, aka scout carry.
