  • A deep dive into the options for setting up a 75 gallon aquarium for the least cost. For a setup I am looking at the minimum to run an aquarium properly so the tank, stand, filter, heater, and light.

      What size lid/ hood fits this tank

    • @TheAquaticCoder
      @TheAquaticCoder  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@davidmcallister9331 The foot print of the tank is about 48 inches long and 18 inches deep. So lights made for 48 inch tanks should work. The tank itself comes with glass lids and lights. So unless you are buying it used and they are not included I would personally use the included lid. I understand wanting to upgrade the light.
      If you do need a lid though the tank is split in half by a brace. Most lids 24 inches by 18 inches should fit and you would need two. I don't see any officially sold by Marineland but I could be wrong.

      I'm in the process of getting ready to upgrade from a 29 gallon tank to a 75 gallon tank. I bought the 75 gallon tank already but trying to find a stand that will allow me to sleep well at night without fear of it collapsing in the middle of the night is turning into a real nitemare. Why do all these companies sell stands made of partical board? I just don't trust it to hold over 800 pounds for years and years. I want solid wood that will be very sturdy so I am now making plans to just go to Lowes and buy the lumber to build my own. With the prices these stands cost you'd think they would at least use real wood. 🤷‍♂🪵I saw that same metal stand for sale also but I thought it looked too thin and in my mind I pictured it buckling under the weight. Do you know if the metal is hollow inside or is it solid on the inside? Does it feel like it has weight to it?

    I had the privilege of purchasing the marineland 75 kit at the $249 sale price a couple years ago. The stand was the selling point. Looks very clean and modern, great color. I do wish it had a little more storage space as my fx4 canister filter dominates the one compartment. Otherwise It's a solid, quality setup for anyone looking. I do suggest upgrading the lights if you're planning on doing anything other than very low light plants.

    Heard alot of issues with Petco tanks lately leaking not the most budget but I strongly advise in getting acrylic aquariums no worries clearer stronger retains heat better only downside is cost

    A very good source for someone who is interested in a 75 g.....IMO it's just a beast and for most of people that are interested in the possibility to have some serious space to work with and I have had most standard sizes , this is the one that has been my favorite. 60 b 2nd best!

    Awesome stuff. You don't need the best of the best for an aquarium. I use two smaller heaters just in case one gets stuck. That way you don't cook your tank 👍

    Some things to think about. I am subject to power outages. Sometimes a few a day. Even if the power goes off then on after a few seconds, if you have certain filters and lights, they wont come back on. I use tidal filters because the pump is in the tank while the box is a hang on back. So when power comes on, no suction is needed. I first bought the haager light. When power is restored, all my settings go back to factory. All my lights are now just on and off on a timer. Jjst something to keep in mind while budget shopping.

    Best option in my opinion is getting a tank secondhand. You can find some insanely cheap but great condition stuff if you look well. Just yesterday i picked up a 100 liter aquarium with filter and heater for €35 from my countrys equivalent of ebay

    I'm getting an aquarium for a non fish purpose, as a display case, and Petsmart has a nice Top Fin 75 gallon aquarium with a full LED lid for $175 available for pickup at their local locations. I'm not a fish person but that seem like a pretty good deal. Could be wrong, I don't need any of the other stuff so I'm not sure, but for what it's worth.

      @@TheAquaticCoder A large colony of Platies (will be breeding for feeders to feed to the two future male Map Turtles that will go in the tank next Summer. I'm also planning on putting in 1 Clown Loach, 1 Super Red Bristle nose Pleco, 1 Cosmic Blue Glo-Shark, about 9 Glo-Tiger Barbs in Electric Green, Galactic Purple, & Star fire Red. Also 1 Electric Blue Dwarf Gourami. I'm also going to try to breed Cherry Shrimp with Bloody Mary Shrimp to make a "super red" shrimp.

      @@GregChambers-bu2go If you don't mind my input Clown loaches are school fish and require 4 to 6 to seem active and not shy. Keep in mind they get hugh. So a 75 might not be the best place for the school😅 but only one would make him feel out of place. Happy fish keeping
