    I find that since last year when I went through a phase of keto, cutting out sugar, and intermittent fasting, my metabolism was reset very well. Subsequently, I no longer intermittently fast so much anymore. I eat breakfast, and my main meal is lunch. I occasionally snack something light in the evening. My body seems very well adapted now, I'm so grateful. I can moderately eat good carbs now without gaining weight. I am convinced the single thing that made all the difference was cutting out all sugar.

    Never apologize for changes in your diet. You have the right (as do all of us) to try whatever you want. Isn’t that what life is all about? Change is natural. You’ll find that different diets work best at different seasons of life, too. Life is about evolving-not locking ourselves in a mold…including social media ones

    Kait I want you to know I loved your vlogs! You were a big motivation for me 3 years ago to become a health coach and in the process I reversed my PCOS symptoms, got my cycle back and put Type 2 diabetes into remission via low carb, keto and carnivore lifestyle. Thanks for all you do! bring back the vlogs! haha only if you enjoy them. Low carb high fat high protein is the best!

    When I started weight lifting while on keto, I felt so tired. I similarly made the decision to be low carb listening to your videos. I had to add complex carbs to my diet such as Ezekiel bread, sweet potato, or apples. I aim for 80 to 100 grams of net carbs a day. This helps me have energy throughout the day and not have to nap after my workout.

    Myself being 73 years long in the tooth. I realized, with your help, beer was not my friend although one was in my hand almost every waking minute. Long story short; I cold turkey quit August 17th at 255lbs as of this date I'm 230lbs , I think it all boils down to how serious you want to get, I'll have one beer when I reach my goal of 180lbs. Thanks for all your guidance!🥰

    Hi Kait from the USA. Your oatmeal example was spot on. When I joined your channel, I was an oatmeal for breakfast guy until I learned from you that it wasn’t the superfood I thought. So your point is spot on, you need to educate new subscribers on a regular basis. Long term subscribers need to understand that not everyone is at their level.

      Ya finding the balance between creating for newbies vs those who have been in the weeds of it for a while is difficult. I’ll occasionally get comments suggesting cover very niche topics. Things that will make marginal improvements. And well I do think those can be helpful for those who are at that point in their journey… it’s such a small % of people. There are SO many more individuals who are having trouble mastering the basics, and those are the people I want to simplify things for. I do try to branch out still 😅 Thanks for your comment!

    Hi Kait! I rarely comment, but I've been following for years 🙂 It's nice to see when people are in tune with themselves and realize that no matter what, the focus is on their health and WELL BEING, rather than if they stay inside some specific group (which is always changing, by the way anyway) I know I can come to your channel and get honest info and always appreciate all that you share about your journey. Also- CONGRATS on making the national team!!! I know you're modest but come on- this is a BIG deal!!! 🥳🥳🥳👏👏👏

    Hey Kait! You're help and coaching has been HUGELY beneficial to me in my health journey! I have to be honest and tell you that I have been a bit on the "trial and error" side of things without being OVERLY strict with my diet. I am 60 and have a sedentary lifestyle due to physical injury and I have experienced a lifetime of emotional trauma, so my weight skyrocketed. Since stopping everything traumatic and giving myself permission to heal and also paying attention to my body's signals, I have lost 33 lbs in 3 mths. It's slow, but sure and I am mainly focused on low carb-high protein, but I am not "stressing" over ANY decision (which is difficult at this age!). I think balance and moderation in ALL things is the best approach because I can maintain it without feeling deprived and guilty! Good for you!!!

    • @HealthCoachKait
      @HealthCoachKait  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      33lb over 3 months is awesome!! Slower results mean you will be more likely to keep the weight off. It sounds like you have found a groove that is easy for you to stick to! Keep it up! 🥰

    Being so strict takes a toll mentally and very isolating!
    I’ve gained weight back & I still struggle with some stuff but sometimes being so strict just to have perfect health metrics & be aesthetically pleasing just becomes too overwhelming. Glad to hear you listen to your body.
    Edit: I made my comment about half way through watching/listening. Honestly I resonate with you so much & like I mentioned before, trying to be “perfect” is very isolating! Very! And can be pretentious if you do try to only surround yourself with “health” friends. There does have to be somewhat of a balance. I think we are all trying to figure it out! It’s not black and white! Life is shades of gray!

    • @HealthCoachKait
      @HealthCoachKait  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      The mental toll is huge! And when you get caught up in the online bubble it can make you feel really bad about yourself… agree about surrounding yourself with “health” friends. It’s great to be connected with like minded people of course! But you shouldn’t cut out or look down on everyone else. We’re all just trying to do our best. Thanks for your comment! ❤️

  • @karengrahl6645

    Kait, I’m not sure of the full tone here but the fact is everyone has to find what works for them. Change is inevitable and it includes what you eat! What I used to eat as a young g adult is in no way what I “can” eat now. I would be grossly overweight. If you don’t eat according to what your body needs you won’t feel well or be able to perform at any athletic level! You present the information very well and it’s up to the listener to determine what will work for their lifestyle. Congratulations on making the ice hockey team and thank you for all the information you provide!

    I did carnivore over a year and have started doing a more Saladino like approach over the past few months. I appreciate the transparency in this video- I se so many people who are struggling to do carnivore, which absolutely was worth it for me and can be for them, but goals can change with time. Great video, and a lot of it resonates with me. I’d just recommend caution with drinking. If you truly feel a need to drink in spite of knowing how it negatively affects you, that doesn’t sound healthy. On the other hand, if you enjoy it, can do so responsibly, and in awareness of the tradeoffs, do what makes you happy.

    I appreciate your new approach Kait, being perfect in an imperfect world is difficult, and can also be stressful for the mind. It’s good everyone knows what the best diets and quality foods are, and it’s okay to lean off of it sometimes yourself. I’ve also taken this approach about the past year.
    I try my best to eat local, grass fed and grass finished, but was recently on a roadtrip, where I couldn’t find all my super healthy snacks and top quality foods, I realized it was okay myself.
    Now I indulge every now and then, even with seed oils too. I avoid if I can, but I do not stress if not.

I am trying to lose weight but at the same time I am VERY active, I run 4 miles a day, walk 3 miles, and weight train 4 days a week. I also think I'm IR. so I've been low carb (75G a day) from Whole Foods for a few months and I've lost about 15lbs but I find I my runs are always a bit labored... can't figure out how to eat? I eat about 1800 calories a day for a deficit but every few days I do a refeed day and I do eat a couple pieces of toast and WOW what a difference my workouts are awesome!! but I feel like I won't lose weight if I eat toast everyday

      Focus on fuelling your body and how you feel during your workouts! Focus less on specific numbers, nutrition labels can be off by 25% over or under anyway, so it’s never going to be exact. A piece of toast WILL NOT stop you from reaching your weight loss goals! You’ve got this Anna ❤️

    I think Carnivore is a great way to reset your gut and cure autoimmune issues. People should add some food back if it works for them. If it doesn't, then don't eat it. Just get rid of as much process and ultra processed food along with any seed oil related food.

    Haven't finished your video yet... 2/3 way through. Really interested in your next post! Would love to do Targeted Keto with goal of using it to perform well in tennis matches. My matches are usually in the early evening when I play on weekdays. My competing needs are this, for matches, I want to play well and finish well and still perform well at my job which is mentally demanding (keto really helps). Maybe this is not necessarily only a diet question... I want to carb up periodically throughout a match which doesn't have a set time length, I need to carb up if I am close to winning a match or if I am close to losing. i.e. I need to finish strong (win or lose), so my carbs are up. Is the solution to do post match exercise till I bonk? Thank you and congrats to success!

    I'm 49 and a Type 2 diabetic since 2006. I've tried keto, I've tried carnivore, nothing worked for me. So my endocrinologist recommended that I change to a low fat diet to get the fat out of my cells and improve my insulin sensitivity - whole foods, mainly plant based, with small portions of lean proteins like fish and ostrich and some red meat like steak. I still eat carbs like oatmeal, brown rice, whole wheat pasta and whole grain bread/natural sourdough plus lots of fruits, legumes and vegetables. But no junk food and sugar. To date I've lost 55kg and my A1C now is below 5 and I don't take any medicine for diabetes, cholesterol or my blood pressure anymore. All my vitals are normal. Now I also do four HIIT classes a week at my local gym.

      That’s awesome you have found something that worked for you! I think cutting out the junk that is processed food makes the biggest difference. By default you will be eating fewer carbs and fewer seed oils. Keep up the great work!

      I was in good shape before though 😅 my initial reason for going low carb was to be able to cycle longer distances without relying on carbs. I was out exercising a bad diet though at that point and feeling shit.

    I dunno, feeling you have to drink because of social stuff sounds like peer pressure, I'm aussie and I know how australia is so big on alcohol, but no body HAS to do it, not even for socializing. Again, I'm aussie and I never drink even in a social setting.
    Just opt for ice water or tonic water or ice tea or coffee.

      No one is pressuring me. But if we’ve just won a game and go to the pub after I sometimes want to have a drink or two. I’m probably being too hard on myself because I then regret it when I see my WHOOP recovery score the next morning 😂

    24:00 i feel the same
    I suffered from several eating disorders (pica, anorexia, orthorexia, binge eating), I hurt my kidneys during carnivore, its a shame for me to admit it. Now I eat what I have at home, unfortunately I have to, I dont want to scare my parents, I see how they get nervous when I dont want to eat, or when I tell them im full, it makes me sad because ive gained too much weight. Now im not afraid of potatoes, and other carbohydrates and fats... But I dont feel or look healthy

    The mainstream have turned against 100% low carbs. So also you tubers. Therefore do not believe every hype. Because the you tubers want clicks at all costs.
