Nice. I'm trying to find some solution to enable me to translate/convert Midi CCs to Sysex or NRPNs, and vice versa. I've been evaluating Companion, and this might help.
Nice, but how do you link a midi note to a button in companion? I'm looking for a solution to use a Midi Keyboard to trigger the companion buttons instead of a stream deck or in addition.
@@andreaskugel8575 Just assign the new surface that appears to a page in Companion that only has the buttons you want. You can have those buttons press other pages' buttons if you desire.
@@techministry3655 OK i will test. Lots of Option and hard to understand with no visual tutorial. Maybe you can do one more video. For now i created a trigger checking the Midi Type Variable for Note ON and the played note and then run an internal button press if both conditions match. Works perfect.
For some reason in my companion I do to see any of the options you are showing. And when I type in the IP of the Mac that is sending midi data it won't connect to it. Any chance you can help me with that?
@@techministry3655 Hey, thank you for the response! I see the options now. But for some reason when I select midi feedback it says that no midi inputs loaded. But through the app it sees two midi ports open. Any chance you can help me with this? I am trying to send midi notes out of ableton live into companion.
@@techministry3655 I'm running copmpanion 3.1.2 (3.1.2+6243-stable-05c37a10) and midi relay 3.2.0 both on Win11 and the only options I'm seeing are IP, port number, and verbose logging. Nothing about "MIDI Feedback Enabled"

in the config of the module, you can use midi feedback as a surface. Then the notes map to buttons.
@@techministry3655 Thanks for your fast answer. But i only want to activate some specific buttons, not the full field.

If you’re not running the latest companion beta you won’t see these options.

@@amidfilms989 maybe try disabling and reenabling the module with midi relay running.
