    Phenomenal videos with so much detail and thought put into every word. I usually don't have time to watch long format videos, but you've done an amazing job of having zero fluff! Production quality is also impressive and I love how when you talk about visual effects in headsets (in other videos), you filter the video to show exactly what you're talking about. I'm shocked that you have fewer than 10k followers. That number is definitely going to go up if you keep releasing videos! I don't subscribe often, but you made that easy.
    I'm really sorry to hear about your father. I'm glad you're back and able to produce such great videos. I wish you all the best and look forward to your videos! Good luck and keep up the great work!

      Thank you so much! I really appreciate this. =)
      The visual effects are definitely fun to do - the goal was to increase the level of immersion in the video content rather than just looking at my blank face vomiting words at you. I love to hear that it's working!
      More videos are in the pipeline! I've spent a lot of time upgrading all my filming equipment, built some dedicated filming areas to make it easier to sit down and start yapping, and am building a schedule to allow me to release a video every 1-2 weeks in 2025. I have a bunch of videos coming out this year, too! I just got a VR treadmill so I'm excited to test that out to see if it's worth it.

      @@aline.tech.reviews sounds like a recipe for success! I can’t wait for the next video! I’m also optimistic on the VR future and have vacillated between the screen real estate of a 8k monitor or using a VR headset. I’m hoping the latter wins soon.

      I truly appreciate that! ♥ It's great to hear my videos garner this response, it's immense fuel for pushing forward. =)
      I also understand completely, and am sorry to disappoint! Making videos takes way too long in my current state of affairs. I've been hunkered down building a dedicated filming room + building a process for writing scripts/editing more quickly + upgrading my local network storage (it's insane how much space 4k videos require!) - all to streamline that process to get videos out more consistently in 2025.
      There's also a personal hurdle I need to overcome - I spend weeks writing scripts and obsessively editing them (and the videos) to get everything "perfect". Even that Tuesday Newsday video took me 12-14 days to finish (which is waaayyy too long). I need to get smaller videos out in 2-3 days, while I'm working on a larger review in the background. I'm going to experiment with a few smaller video ideas between my bigger reviews in January-February to see how the audience responds.

      Patience is definitely the key.. all the ecosystems are so new and fragile that basically nothing works without a ton of tinkering. Something as simple as recording the footage from inside the Apple Vision Pro for this video took like 2 hours to get working (and then you can only record for 60 seconds, but it's impossible to get your recording right because the whole headset starts lagging and its FPS drops to like 12).

    • @aline.tech.reviews
      @aline.tech.reviews  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Most definitely! I couldn't get into a flow with the Quest 2/3; the resolution was just too low - reading text for long periods of time caused a lot of eye strain for me that compounded over the week. I still use it, but for max like 1-2 hours a day. 4k per eye seems to be the minimum sweet spot for regular and long work sessions for me.
      I've ordered the Immersed Visor, though! I'm going to their IRL event next month; I'll be sure to make a video of my initial thoughts.

  • @DavidOgletree

    I switched Quest for this. I could not get used to how heavy it used to is. Mine has been in a bin almost since day one. I pull it out every one in a while to see if immersed has gotten any better. It has been a while. I need to try again. Also I have never tried any of the new headbands. I need to pull it out. The AVP is superior in many ways, but it is heavy. Also the eye tracking or any kind of tracking sucks so bad compared to the hand controllers. If somebody could get hand controllers like the Quest the AVP would actually be useful.

    • @aline.tech.reviews
      @aline.tech.reviews  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My first thought when you mentioned how heavy it was to ask if you have tried a "halo style" headstrap for the Quest, then reading further it sounds like you haven't. I'd suggest picking up a BoboVR S3 or equivalent.. it not only evenly distributes the load over your head, but also has a battery on the back that acts as a nice counter-balance. In this setup, I'm way more comfortable than the Apple Vision Pro.
      AVP is definitely heavy, but I've also managed to get it evened out some with the 3D-printed clips that allow you to attach another soloknit band on the top of your head. You have to buy another $99 headband, which sucks, but this setup is much more comfortable and if one of the strap gets a bit too uncomfortable through the day, you can loosen it and tighten the other one to get back to a comfortable state and just alternate as needed. Highly recommend it.
      I agree it would be nice if controllers worked just to be an optional input. I know folks have the Index Knuckles working in ALVR for gaming. That said, I've been a big fan of the hand and eye tracking over controllers - I think I'd argue that I'd rather they spent more time dialing in the hand tracking to match the precision and latency of the Quest 3.

    Tell desk companies to make their desks wider I thought about getting a standing desk for many years and I'm on Vernal's website and 27.5 is not enough I've been to other desk sites and some of them are much better but I'm telling you the first standing desk company to come out with one that's 35 - 40 inches are going to make a lot of money from people like me. I have an old-school I don't even know what you call it. From maybe the 40s and it's beautiful it's wide it's long it's heavy and it's hard to move but it's awesome to work at however you can't stand up... anyway that's my two cents you did at least get my money .. They look like nice desk though just too skinny... lol

    • @aline.tech.reviews
      @aline.tech.reviews  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yea, I assume the reason is that it's a bit more of a niche audience (e.g, there's not as many of you that want larger). 27.5 is a good standard size because most can't reach past that when at the desk itself (meaning they'd have to lean way over or walk around). I'm tall at 6'3" and find the 22-inch desks too short because I can still reach all the way across when sitting, but 27.5 is the perfect distance.
      I will definitely send them this feedback though to see what they say!

    Great video, one big issue I have with the vision pro is that it's basically incapable of showing HDR content.
    Now apple does advertise it, it does say HDR10+ and Dolby vision on Disney plus and apple tv movies but with a peak brightness of around 110 nits, it is way below average. For reference, the 10 dollar square monitors that you can find in dumpsters can do over 200 nits.
    With modern tv's, oled and miniled, boasting numbers in the range of 2000 to 5000 nits, apple should have no rights putting such weak displays in a 3.5k device.

    • @aline.tech.reviews
      @aline.tech.reviews  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Appreciate that!
      And yea - the limitation is understandable (both due to power and the light-sucking nature of pancake lenses). I think it's estimated that the screens are ~5,000 nits but the structure of the lenses and such reduces that to the ~100 mark that's been estimated. [ I believe I got those values from Karl Guttag ]
      It's a place I'm admittedly not experienced enough in to comment, but should aim to test more of. I rarely watch content so even though I have monitors and TV's with HDR support, I've never actually bothered to use it regularly.

    • @spookhidde
      @spookhidde หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @aline.tech.reviews I agree, it's unfortunate that HDR is neglected so much because when it's properly executed then it's like going from black and white to color tv.
      Think about it, if you're for example watching a movie, does it make sense that a lightbulb is as bright as the wall next to it? Because in SDR it's like that, this also applies to explosions and other things that should be bright.

    • @Gatitasecsii
      @Gatitasecsii 22 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Dude you don't need 1000 nits of light blasting your retinas under total darkness, that would feel awful even if realistic. It's like you're asking to look at the sun, which if I were apple, I'd definitely say no to that lawsuit.

    • @spookhidde
      @spookhidde 21 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@Gatitasecsii you are overestimating 1000 nits, its really not that bright. The large led panels and micro LED can reach 20 000 nits which is closer to real life. But I get it, some people are more sensitive to light so it certainly should ask you before watching a movie if you want maximum HDR.
      Personally, I love when an explosion in a movie looks real and blasts my eyes with light lol, it just looks so cool.

    • @Gatitasecsii
      @Gatitasecsii 21 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@spookhidde
      You are thinking of not very dark places tho, inside the headset it's pitch black, so you don't need as high brightness to achieve a high contrast sensation. Also you don't ever watch your microLED TV one inch away from your eyes, there's no comparison there either...
      And idk about you but i value my retinas, and putting myself on Apple's shoes, i wouldn't want to deal with possibly damaging people's eyes just because they decide to be irresponsible.

    I've recently been thinking of purchasing a vision pro as well, and I wanted to ask if it would be feasible for me to wear the vision pro all the time instead of the screen if I'm in a situation where I'm using the computer for a long period of time? Will it damage my eyes. Also, very great video!

    • @aline.tech.reviews
      @aline.tech.reviews  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I appreciate that! Thanks for taking the time to watch.
      I've been able to use the Apple Vision Pro for extended periods without issue! This is contrary to the Quest 3, for example, where the lower resolution and aliasing of text strains my eyes a lot to read (and where it gets quite hot inside the headet around the eyes - the AVP has much better ventillation, is much cooler, and therefore more comfortable). The Quest 3 is perfectly viable for consuming content and playing games because your eyes aren't trying to focus them in the same way as text and other elements for producitivity/work.
      AFAIK, there is no concrete evidence that using a headset for extended periods will cause any extra damage to your eyes over a traditional screen. I'm not a doctor; I've searched quite a bit as I had the same concern with my first headset years ago, check out "The Dr. Eye Guy" on YT - he recently made a video. Myopia is increasing in general due to the population's screen use and focal distance, but I believe the general sentiment is that VR should reduce this to some extent, vs. traditional 2d screens, as there is an increased engagement of the eyes.. meaning it should be slightly better for your eyes long-term. I think we need more studies to be certain.
      Lol, also the way the Apple Vision Pro's eye tracking works gives you a nice eyeball workout. Typically when staring at screens it seems your eyes move very little, but in the AVP you constantly are moving your eyeballs around all over to target windows and interactive components.. so you get like an all- day workout and stretch of your eyes over a traditional screen.
      Edit: I'll also add, getting a used Vision Pro is a great way to save nearly $1,000. Many people purchased it, used it a few times, and it's collecting dust now.

      Not nearly that much! 😆
      This setup was about $9,000 USD total - but that includes the $3,500 Apple Vision Pro + $2,500 Legion Laptop which I bought specifically to review.
      From the other video, that was the cost for PCVR hardware and sim rig setups for a future video series that I'm working on which requires a lot of high-end graphics cards and CPUs - I spent $15,000 on that in hopes of bringing new content to TH-cam. I will be releasing a lot of CPU/GPU comparisons over the next year.

      For ease, check out "Dr. Eye Guy" here on TH-cam; he makes some good videos on the topic. Everything I've read suggests there's no additional damage to your eyes over traditional screens; they may even cause us to become less myopic, over traditional monitors, because your eyes are more 'active'. Of course, I'm not a doctor and it feels like we need a lot more studies.
