I gotta tell you what a great experience it was to see Orleans playing at the Shaboo Inn in Willimantic Connecticut Around 73 to 74. I had been a professional singer drummer since 68 and we were playing a couple of their songs in our band. I Asked Lefty the owner of the Shaboo Inn Just before Orleans first album hit the charts to give Orleans a shot of doing a concert there. It turned out to be a fantastic show of elbow to elbow people and the band Was absolutely fantastic the club had super acoustics and lefty had a knack for hiring great talent to play in such a small town. Our band also had the pleasure of opening up for Rick Derringer ( Rock and roll hoochie coo.) Just before Orleans first album hit the Charts. Thank you lefty for all the pleasure and inspiration I got from hearing all the great talents in your club. Love you dude And rest in peace Shaboo Inn. Sincerely Roger.

I saw them in Milwaukee on this tour. Didn't know much about them - went to see Jackson Browne. Orleans had everyone standing on their chairs after the first song, and we stayed there for their full 45-minute set. Fabulous! Then Jackson Browne came out and played a very "downer" kind of show for his set. Talk about a roller coaster of emotions! I've seen both acts multiple times over the years and was impressed every time - by both! Ah, the good old days!

From about '75 on I was tuned in to Orleans. I loved the versatility and obvious talent. The icing on great instrumental playing (always loved up front rhythm sections and twin guitar leads) with smart arrangements was the excellent use of harmony vocals. I continue to recommend less played (on radio) songs like Higher, Dreaming Again, If I Don't Have You, Time Passes On, and Sails for folks looking for the best of 70's rock to add on their playlists.

Jerry Narotta, 20 years old, & killing on drums. My favorite drummer to record with, period

Wow! An amazing show! No wonder Mr. Brown couldn't follow these guys. I wish someone could take this video and clean it up but not lose the energy of the band. Such chemistry comes along only so often. Thanks for posting. I know it was a long time ago but this talent stands the test of time.

Lance, love your insight into what was going on with Orleans back then and now. Warts and all, it helps you get a much better sense of what we are seeing and hearing. Much appreciated.

Great to see and hear this show. I think I caught them at the Harvard Sq. theater during this tour. Whole band is terrific but listen to Wells Kelly on keyboards adding color. His drumming always has been solid but few people remember his keyboard playing. I remember John Hall saying that his tuning was all messed up after "I'm a Bum" was played by Wells on John's guitar. Highly entertaining band that I enjoyed immensely. Larry Hoppen's talent was incredible...such a loss...Yes I love watching and listening to You Tube posts. If there's anything close to this now out there let me know.

I'm no help with the new stuff, but...if you're not aware of Louisiana's Leroux check out their first album from the seventies.

Summer/Fall of 1976 most likely was the height of Orleans's commercial success. I was a young man in Ithaca, NY during the Early 70s when Rolling Stone correctly dubbed Orleans the "best bar band in the US" They gigged around town constantly many weeks, a fan could catch them two or even three times a week. Lots of happy sweating people having an amazing time listening, dancing and overall enjoying themselves to their raw, raucous sound. The Salty Dog, Haunt, Nines, many other great venues.

I always wondered how I missed them. I’m seeing the dates - I left Greene, NY 4/76 to travel as a road musician I guess I was out of town for it. Great band. I love their hits

I'm really digging this. J dig the pump hat too. Lol. Good memories. 1976 was one of the years I spent hitchin a ride across the country stopping to stay in communes along the way. For you young people commune is shirt for community not communist. They were the only honest socialist to ever exist. Socialism can never work in a large country because the rich are not giving up their money so there can be a sharing of the wealth and the powerful will never let go of their power. In fact today's socialism is more about government power than socialism was ever supposed to be. Socialism is a social experiment that has totally failed.

This tour must have been after the last album that featured Wells Kelly, who can be seen on drums and organ. Orleans had recently added Jerry Marotta on drums, which gave them more versatility for live performances. I never had the chance of seeing them live, only John Hall on a solo gig, but you can certainly feel the vibes, and understand what a great performing band they were.

Wells Kelly continued with Orleans until 1982….. passed away while on tour in England with Meat Loaf in 1983. John Hall and Jerry Marotta left the band in 1977.
