    I'm glad at the end that eggs that aren't good enough to be sold as eggs are sold off as liquid eggs. Less waste.

      Usually even the egg shells are saved as they have many uses also.

    • @hamsterama
      @hamsterama 6 ปีที่แล้ว +97

      +RealAnimoji It wouldn't surprise me if the eggshells are made into fertilizer. I toss all my eggshells in my garden. They are too valuable to throw away in the trash. They break down and add calcium to the soil.

      travbrack during the summer i was running this little omelet bar, about 30-40 omelets i made alone between 7 and 9am. Each omelet had two eggs in it.
      Daily i was cracking 60+ eggs this one week because my supervisor had ordered the wrong eggs (in shell instead of bags)
      Those pre packages, bagged, eggs save me soooooo much time 😂
      Still, for my own cooking needs ill use shell eggs usually, something satisfying in the crack mostly i think.

    I'm glad they're not wasting eggs, but I still find it amusing that the liquid eggs you pay a premium for are more expensive than normal eggs when they're actually rejected product. They know they can charge people for laziness. ...Not to say that I'm never lazy

    • @alejandrorobles6865
      @alejandrorobles6865 6 ปีที่แล้ว +58

      Yeah maybe its because they have to undergo more complex procesess than the normal eggs, its not like they live from these if you consider that the liquid egg production is smaller than the normal egg, and needs more procesing.

    • @Amy-qc2qq
      @Amy-qc2qq 6 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      Yeah I get where you're coming from ... liquid egg is normally pasteurized so I guess that's why it's more expensive? When I was a pastry chef we started using liquid egg for anything that would contain raw egg (eg chocolate mousse) even though it was more expensive because it's safer for vulnerable people (eg pregnant women) ... I don't resent them for that 🙃

    • @ichLWmich
      @ichLWmich 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      When you buy liquid egg white it's heated a special way so it doesn't turn solid while still being clean. It's important when you want to eat it raw. If you're going to cook it you can go with normal eggs

    • @Cheerleader1Waverley
      @Cheerleader1Waverley 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      farms vary greatly in animal care and farms like these are way more common then 10%
      just cause animal rights groups paint a picture of all doom and gloom doesn't mean it is.cause just like how a factory farm won't let you film in it a animal rights group will only show you the bad side.

      There are agricultural engineers who make all kinds of food grading machines. I visited an onion farm that used a machine, originally designed for New Zealand apples, that would hold an onion in a cradle of rollers, and spin it on each axis in turn, and a machine vision system would grade the onion. The cradle would then drop the onion at the appropriate place along the processing line, with high-quality onions being boxed for premium markets, lesser ones bagged for the grocery store trade, and irregular onions crated for food processing.
      For a different machine, search TH-cam for "SketchyPhysics Chile Cleaner Model "

      It’s definitely a feather, likely stuck on by bird poop. ;) You see it in the crack test too.
      For some reason we require suppliers to wash eggs in the USA, which removes a protective coating and accelerates their spoilage at room temperature. That’s why supermarket eggs are supposed to be refrigerated in the USA. My mother totally doesn’t though and she uses them months past their expiration dates.
