i’m a senior now and this was the first song we ever actually played at a concert so we revisited it & it was so much fun

As one that has played this song in two of my grades. I have a few minor issues. The tempo for this song is a bit too slow and they need to go up a few tempos in the beginning. The rest is alright other than the slight delay for some of the inertuments. I am a 9th grader and I'm happy to see that Comet ride has made it so into 2019-2021. Besides these minor issues, this is a great masterpiece for the young ones of just entering middle school! I was once in this league and I hope sixth graders now in band can improve like we did.
I believe that the slow tempo at the beginning is to mimic what happens before sighting a comet, or a shooting star. Not the entire song should've been fast-paced, which is why measures 0-8 are slower than the rest.

i am learning this song now and i play trombone but covering percussion parts because pur band is not evem half the size of this band- The trombone section is the biggest section with 5 people - we have an very small band 😭
I swear. The band can never get the "sshhhhh" right. They say "SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP" instead, which always makes us laugh, so you can imagine what the concert was like.. but they said ssshhh. When we were playing, the audience clapped, thinking the song was over. I always think the "ssssshhhhhhh" part was meant to make the audience think the song is over, then shush them as a clue that the song was over.
My school is preforming this in May and we all the girls have to wear black fancy dresses and the school is not providing them that’s not a problem I’m just clarifying

It was good but the clarinets could have done a bit more crescendo and de crescendo on the slow part! All in all it was really good :))
To be fair everyone hates having to play crescendo and de crescendo so can you blame them for not doing it.

Amber Lilly it's middle school, they're taught to tap their foot. As for the uniforms, once again its middle school, don't expect them to come in fancy business casual.
Luke The Walrus very true im in band and they tell us to tap our foot even in concert to keep with the tempo. Also uniforms dont really matter for us all we have to wear is a navy blue shirt and kaki pants
