I was raised on fried battered squash seasoned with salt and pepper. When I got married I soon found out about sauteed squash and onions cooked in a little bit of bacon grease salt and pepper. You want to cook the squash and onions until most of the liquid is gone and then you add a tablespoon of sugar. The more brown it gets the better it tastes.
