People ask me "What's your favorite Tool song?" and I in turn ask "What day is it?" They say "Tuesday" and I say "The Grudge" but it's all bravado built upon a bed of lies. My favorite Tool song is the last one I heard because it's still bouncing around in my soul. Tool stands alone.

TOOL is so effing good. There’s no other way to say it. Every instrument (and the man who plays it) is next level, and Maynard’s lyrics are from another dimension. I agree with you. It’s not fair that all 4 of these musical geniuses are in one band. But I’m glad they are, because I love every masterpiece they create, and there are many.
I just really would like to hope that there'd be an (ascending) on the new album . But that's just cuz I LOVE this song

10,000 days is their best work. They have so many elite songs!!! “Lost Keys” and “Rosetta Stoned” are meant to go together and is up there with Descending!
if you like the slower Maynard you need to get into A Perfect Circle and Pusicfer

I'm so thankful for Tool. I fucking love music, but Tool is the only band that give me a feeling no other can.

The video in the CD case (on a 7" screen), called Recusant Ad Infinitum, plays twice over, for a total of 13:37, the exact length of Descending. So you see it once with vocals and another time with only music.
"Solos", yeah. It may be an unpopular opinion but I think Maynard was less into this one. Or to better put it, Adam and Danny really stepped up their game.
Or Maynard added what the song needed… nothing more, nothing less.

"Salvia" would blow your mind for different reasons .. "Salival" is an often overlooked piece of Tool's discography that should not be missed tho.
Here for it! As for what this song is 'about' my own interpretation is our DESCENDING political environment and the end to our Great Experiment.
